1.01 WR Mike Evans: The St. Louis Rams will no doubt select Mike Evans first overall because he’s the best player in the draft and the team has no clear number one WR for QB John David Booty. Sure, the team has numerous needs and trading down for a massive haul is always a possibility – but highly unlikely. It’s hard not to love Mike Evans frame (tall), feel for the game (AWR) and sure hands (CTH)… when you also consider his amazing out of the block (ACC) and stretch the field (SPD) ability you know you’re getting a generational talent. Don’t count on Mike Evans to climb (JMP) for errant high thrown passes and the conditioning coaches will want to be aware of wear and tare (INJ).
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 225
Age: 21
Key Attributes: SPD = 68 / AGI = 93 / ACC = 99 / CTH = 85 / JMP = 78
1.02 QB Derek Carr: The New England Patriots are a lock to select the heir apparent to retired QB Tom Brady… the team paid heavily to move up twice to ensure they wouldn’t miss out on the best QB in the draft. Though Derek Carr is a student of the game (AWR), his advanced age (23) and average arm strength arm minor concerns… if a mentor is brought in, it should accelerate establishing him as a franchise signal caller in short time.
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 212
Age: 23
Key Attributes: AWR = 75 / THP = 90 / THA = 88
1.03 LT Taylor Lewan: The Tennessee Titans have moved on from QB Mark Sanchez after 3 seasons of disappointment (18-30 record)… enter, QB Ben Roethlisbergr. Having committed to a veteran signal caller in an attempt to be relevant now… it’ll be critical to address the porous front line. There is no better option in the draft (if you’re looking for an offensive lineman) than Taylor Lewan… he instantly enters the SFL as a top 5 offensive linemen. ~ Curveball Alert… probability of this pick being traded is HIGH. ~
Height: 6’8”
Weight: 302
Age: 22
Key Attributes: SPD = 71 / STR = 97 / AGI = 79 / ACC = 81 / PBK = 86 / RBK = 88
1.04 WR Kelvin Benjamin: The Carolina Panthers will likely select an offensive weapon for the disgruntled signal caller Russell Wilson. You can’t coach height, so selecting a tall target is probably the route the team takes. Not as polished (AWR) or sure handed (CTH) as the first overall selection… make no mistake, Kelvin Benjamin very likely will spend the next decade terrorizing defensive secondaries.
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 234
Age: 21
Key Attributes: SPD = 95 / AGI = 95 / ACC = 93 / CTH = 78
1.05 LE Jadeveon Clowney: The Seattle Seahawks probably have no greater need than finding a defensive lineman that can deliver pressure from the edge. The draft class offers a couple of option, in the end I believe Jadeveon Clowney’s frame (an extra 3 inches and nearly 30 lbs) means a little more than the next best option. Though Jadeveon Clowney is a well-rounded athlete and sure tackler… he is a bit raw and has some work to do in becoming a student of the game (AWR).
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 272
Age: 21
Key Attributes: SPD = 81 / STR = 86 / AGI = 84 / ACC = 81 / TAK = 72
1.06 LE Demarcus Lawrence: The Tennessee Titans should address there need on the defensive line, the say games are won in the trenches and that seems to be where the battle is being lost right now. What Demarcus Lawrence lacks in size (6’3” and 244 lbs) he makes up for crazily in his athletic abilities. ~ Curveball Alert… probability of this pick being traded is HIGH. ~
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 244
Age: 22
Key Attributes: SPD = 84 / STR = 89 / AGI = 83 / ACC = 85 / TAK = 68
1.07 CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste: The Green Bay Packers Moved on from CB Aaron Ross, so it makes sense they’d draft his replacement… surprisingly, the CB’s have not been picked over yet so they get the pick of their choice. The “experts” would have you believe there are three clear options at CB in this draft class worthy of being selected in the top half of the first round. The Packers will use height as the deciding factor knowing the top talents at CB are very close in abilities.
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 215
Age: 22
Key Attributes: SPD = 94 / AWR = 61 / AGI = 89 / ACC = 94 / CTH = 64 / JMP = 89
1.08 WR Kevin Norwood: The Atlanta Falcons are desperate for a legit deep threat for QB Ryan Tannehill and are fortunate to select Kevin Norwood. He’s quick out of the blocks (ACC), in and out of cuts clean (AGI) and has blazing top end speed… he’s a bigger target (HTG) who will need to work his hands and knowledge of the game (AWR). Biggest concern, Kevin Norwood has a history of being brittle (INJ).
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 210
Age: 22
Key Attributes: SPD = 99 / AGI = 99 / ACC = 97 / CTH = 72
1.09 CB Kyle Fuller: No one saw Kyle Fuller falling to 9th overall… the Seattle Seahawks waste little time making the selection and knowing they have the STEAL of the first round. Though this isn’t the greatest need on the Seahawks roster to fill, there’s no real downside to adding the player and depth.
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 199
Age: 23
Key Attributes: SPD = 96 / AWR = 60 / AGI = 96 / ACC = 99 / CTH = 63
1.10 SS Jonathan Dowling: The Denver Broncos traded up… for who, it’s hard to predict (for the Broncos or anyone else). Because it can be very difficult to know what will be available to a team at this point of the first round, I suspect the Broncos draft SS Jonathan Dowling (safe bet a safety of their choice would be there at tenth overall). The Broncos love his length (HTG) and above average athleticism. ~ Curveball Alert… if the guy they wanted is gone I see a trade down happening. ~
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 198
Age: 22
Key Attributes: SPD = 91 / AWR = 54 / AGI = 94 / ACC = 91 / CTH = 60
