PICK | TEAM | PLAYER | ANALYSIS |
1.01 | | WR Mike Evans | This is a done deal. It's not surprising, and Felipe also made a comment in Discord about Mike Evans being the guy. It would be a shock to see anyone else here. |
1.02 | | QB Derek Carr | After Tom Brady retired, GM Briston Redford traded up to 1.03 and then again to 1.02. That's unlike him, and it's very obvious he is pursuing Derek Carr. He's one of the best QBs we have ever seen in a draft before. This as much of a slam dunk as Mike Evans to St. Louis. |
1.03 | | CB Kyle Fuller | I have seen many mocks suggesting Titans take an OL here. I don't think it would be terrible, but I don't think Apolo goes that direction. In his play league experience he didn't prioritize OL and has stated before he isn't as confident about what makes a good OL in these leagues. He loves the elite skilled positions, and with Jonathan Baldwin and Josh Gordon, it doesn't make sense to go WR. Although he has drafted a 3rd stud WR before (St. Louis), I would expect this pick to be a CB. |
1.04 | | WR Kevin Norwood | I'm not confident about the Panthers pick. He could go in any number of directions and he has gone in different directions in the past than I thought they should go. The trading of Michael Vick was surprising to me, but I don't think that signals QB here. Being on the hot seat, GM Philip Mellon needs 6 wins to hang on to his job and I have to imagine improving the 30th scoring offense will be a priority. Norwood is a stud, very similar to Mike Evans and should be a big boost to that offense. |
1.05 | | LT Taylor Lewan | I think the Seahawks have their eyes on a few guys here, but Taylor Lewan is an excellent OL prospect and would probably go higher in most draft years. There is some good talent at the top of this draft and Lewan would be too good of value to pass up at 1.05. The team traded WR A.J. Green for this pick, but I don't think they necessarily need to replace him at this spot with Michael Crabtree and Emmanuel Sanders on the roster. |
1.06 | | QB Teddy Bridgewater | It was so tempting to go with LT Jake Matthews here, but as I said I don't know if Apolo will prioritize OL. He just traded Mark Sanchez to NYJ for Roethlisberger and Matt Barkley. I didn't like the trade, but they got a great return on Barkley in my opinion. I don't think Barkley is worth the investment. But Roethlisberger can help Apolo win and save his job now, while also mentoring Teddy two gloves for the future. |
1.07 | | CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste | In a surprising move, GM Gary Hickman traded stud CB Aaron Ross to Indianapolis while the Packers are on the hot seat. Per Gary, this was a cost saving move, which should save them about $2m by drafting a rookie at 1.07. They have a massive hole at CB and I think this is a very obvious choice at this slot. |
1.08 | | WR Kelvin Benjamin | Very few GMs make less noise than GM Garth Pearce. I didn't realize QB Tim Couch retired! It looks like it's the Ryan Tannehill era. I could see Garth wanting a WR to help Tannehill, and judging by Garth's history of liking big WRs, I think Benjamin would be the guy if he went that route. |
1.09 | | CB Pierre Desir | It was tempting to slot the Seahawks a CB at 1.05, but I feel like WR and CB are pretty deep this year, moreso than many other years. I think this may be a surprise for some, but Rock loves super athletic guys and will overlook height. Desir just so happens to be 6'1". He also doesn't care how raw a guy is. A 6'1", 97 SPD, 96 AGI, 97 ACC CB could be a stud once developed and looks to fit a need. |
1.10 | | CB Justin Gilbert | Who will I take? |
1.11 | | LE Jadeveon Clowney | Unless the Chargers are active in free agency, and aside from DE Mike Neal there aren't many that jump out at me there, this would set up perfectly for GM Billy Cook. So much so that I wonder if he would wait until 11 or get happy feet and trade up when the DEs fall. |
1.12 | | CB Dontae Johnson | GM Bradley Barber was just shopping Julio Jones and then quickly closed the door on that amid backlash about market dilution. Could they be thinking WR here? I think it's CB, after Culliver there isn't a lot of talent on the team at that position. |
