2014 SFL MOCK DRAFT V2.0
1.1- St. Louis Rams- WR Mike Evans- Texas A&M
*Previous pick- WR Mike Evans*
WR Mike Evans will come in day 1 and be the go to target and #1 WR they've been lacking. His size, speed and athleticism to go with that CTH makes him 1 of the elite players in this class.
1.2- New England Patriots- QB Derek Carr- Fresno State
*Previous pick- QB Derek Carr*
I think the first 2 picks are pretty much no brainers and even if the Pats land Leftwich in FA which it seems likely, he's only a 1 year option and this is a perfect time to groom a young QB after the Brady retirement. Carr is everything you look for in a franchise QB at 6'3", 75 AWR is excellent for a rookie QB to start off with and will be an 80 by next season at just 24 years old, he does have a rocket arm 90 THP but can add +2 with activity points if need be plus 88 THA is well above average also. He'll be a top QB in a few seasons no doubt in my mind.
1.3- Tennessee Titans- CB Kyle Fuller- Virginia
*Previous pick- OT Taylor Lewan*
Kyle Fuller is the safest CB in this class at 6'0" , 96 SPD, 96AGI. 99 ACC make him 1 of the most athletic in this class and already comes with above average football IQ for a rookie. An elite tackler with average hands and above average JMP makes him even more appealing. He's a bit older than some of the other prospects but in this case he makes up for it with all the other solid attributes.
1.4- Carolina Panthers- WR Kelvin Benjamin- Florida State
*Previous pick- WR Kelvin Benjamin*
His 6'5" frame to go along with his athleticism 95SPD/95AGI/93ACC make him an immediate WR 1 which the Panthers are sorely missing. His hands are good enough and can be worked on throughout the season and despite all the Teddy B avatars I think this is a no brainer.
1.5- Seattle Seahawks- WR Kevin Norwood- Alabama
*Previous pick- QB Teddy Bridgewater*
I don't know why I didn't connect the dots sooner but to me this is a Rock Hewko pick 100%, he's 6'3", and could possibly be a 99SPD/99AGI/99ACC WR and should be able to take over the #1 spot or at the very least play at at #2 WR. He does have the INJ concern but I think the talent outweighs the risk with him.
1.6- Tennessee Titans- OT Taylor Lewan- Michigan
*Previous pick- OT Jake Matthews
I don't think Apolo was comfortable taking an OL at 3 but I think he'd be an absolute steal here at 6. 6'8" 302 lbs., off the charts athleticism, unreal STR and almost borderline on being elite at both the run and pass blocking, this would be very hard to pass up here.
1.7- Green Bay Packers- CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste- Nebraska
*Previous pick- OT Justin Britt*
The Packers traded a top notch CB because of cap reasons, save about 2M and draft his replacement in SJB. He's a very tall CB at 6'2" , excellent football IQ, excellent SPD/AGI/ACC to go along with above average CTH/TAK and elite JMP, he'll fill right into the vacated spot immediately.
1.8- Atlanta Falcons- WR Cody Latimer- Indiana
*Previous pick- WR Kevin Norwood*
Lattimer is a great fit for the Falcons and seems to fit the mold of the type of WR they like to draft. He has excellent size 6'3" 215 lbs., great SPD/AGI/ACC, above average hands and above average JMP, I can see him in the mix as the #1 or #2 WR for them right out of the gate and putting up big numbers.
1.9- Seattle Seahawks- DE Demarcus Lawrence- Boise State
*Previous pick- DE Jadeveon Clowney*
Although Lawrence isn't blessed with ideal height/weight for the position there is no denying he is a dynamic prospect. His 84SPD/83AGI/85ACC make him the most athletic of this class and his 89STR makes it much easier to to get to the QB.
1.10- Denver Broncos- OT Jake Matthews- Texas A&M
*Previous pick- CB Kyle Fuller*
The Broncos come away with an absolute stud at either OT position, he;s a little bit undersized at 6'5" 305 lbs. but that's about all the negative you can come up with him as he has some if not the quickest feet in the entire draft for OL, unreal brute STR to go along with elite blocking in both the run and pass game.
1.11- San Diego Chargers- RB Carlos Hyde- Ohio State
*Previous pick- DE Demarcus Lawrence*
I think Hyde is the pick here, he offers a big bruising, nasty to play against weapon which the Chargers didn't have last year in the very average RB Brandon Jackson who had just about as many FUM (5) as he did TD (6). Hyde's large frame 6'0" 242 lbs. and STR (71) will make him very difficult to bring down plus add in the 81 CAR and 83 BTK and you will have nightmares as a DC trying to cover all these weapons while having to deal with this Natrone Mean-ish style runner (you youngins may not even know who that is lol)
1.12- Oakland Raiders- CB Justin Gilbert- Oklahoma State
*Previous pick- CB Justin Gilbert*
6'0" Athletic, great football IQ, above average CTH/TAK, adequate JMP and an athlete who would be hard to pass up here and of course that will be skew dependent also.
1.13- Cleveland Browns- CB Pierre Desir- Washburn
*Previous pick- CB Pierre Desir*
The Browns are in need of help in the secondary and Desir would be able to come in immediately. His 6'1" frame will help him against bigger WR, his JMP is elite, with adequate CTH/TAK. He'll need to work hard on his football IQ but he can work on that in TC/regular season.
1.14- New Orleans Saints- WR Jarvis Landry- LSU
*Previous pick- WR Jarvis Landry*
I still feel Landry is the correct pick, a big target at 6'1", solid hands, off the charts athletic ability 97SPD, 99AGI, 99ACC. Also doubles down as a KR, he should be able to come in immediately and make a big impact opposite of James Jones.
1.15- Dallas Cowboys- CB Dontae Johnson- North Carolina State
*Previous pick- RB Carlos Hyde*
The Cowboys made some splashy moves in FA, particularly in the secondary adding Carroll, Robinson and Ward but I think in a year or so the Cowboys are going to want to get out of the Carroll contract, Johnson can come in and play NCB for a year or 2 building up his football IQ, he has excellent size at 6'2", already elite JMP, 93SPD/91AGI/99ACC has to be very appealing to GM Anthony Fernandez.
1.16- Washington Redskins- DE Jadeveon Clowney- South Carolina
*Previous pick- CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste*
His 6'6" 272 lbs. frame is a perfect fit scheme wise. He has plenty of athletic ability and should be able to sack QB's and disrupt RB in the backfield with ease. His 86 STR will allow him to shed tackles and already comes with above average TAK (72) for a rookie.
1.17- New York Jets- S Jonathan Dowling- Western Kentucky
*Previous pick- S Jonathan Dowling*
I believe Dowling would be too good to pass up here, he offers great height 6'3" with elite JMP, he also has above average CTH/TAK and the great thing is he doesn't have to start right away so he'd be in a perfect situation while he gets his Football IQ up.
1.18- Minnesota Vikings- CB Walt Aikens- Liberty
*Previous pick- CB Walt Aikens*
This is a rare occasion that I pick the same player for the team that traded into this spot but I think Aikens makes alot of sense for Minnesota. He has the height at 6'0" with undeniable 97SPD, 91AGI, 97 ACC trifecta, elite JMP to go along with average CTH/TAK to make him a solid NCB in year 1 but could also be mentored.
1.19- Baltimore Ravens- OT Justin Britt- Missouri
*Previous pick- CB Antone Exum Jr.*
Britt is a big boy at 6'6" 325 lbs. but is extremely nimble for a man of his stature and has some of the quickest feet in this class. He'll have no trouble handling bull rushers or SPD rushers with his 99 STR. He should be the next OT taken after Lewan and Matthews who are a bit more polished in the run and pass blocking.
1.20- Minnesota Vikings- OT Mitchell Van Dyk- Portland State
*Previous pick- OT Mitchell Van Dyk*
I still like Van Dyk here for the Vikings, 6'8" 325 lbs., 93 STR and some of the quickest feet for a guy his size with above average run and pass blocking. He should be able to come in right away and start from day 1 and will need to do that because I'm not sure the current RT Streif can handle being the man.
1.21- San Diego Chargers- QB Teddy Bridgewater- Louisville
*Previous pick- RB Jeremy Hill*
Bridgewater isn't as polished as Carr but I see a franchise QB in the making, at 6'3" he is ideal height. He doesn't have ideal THP but that can always be worked on with activity points and what he lacks in arm talent he more than makes up with 97 THA. His 69 AWR is excellent also and can be mentored by Quinn for a season or 2 before he's ready to take over.
1.22- Chicago Bears- OLB Marcus Smith- Louisville
*Previous pick- WR Cody Lattimer*
Smith is the best OLB in this class imo and can play in any scheme being 6'3" 252 lbs, he's an athletic LB 83SPD, 82AGI, 86ACC but he also has unreal STR (86) which will allow him to get by blockers on his way to sacking the QB or getting to the RB in the backfield.
1.23- Chicago Bears- OT Joel Bitonio- Nevada
*Previous pick- CB Dontae Johnson*
Bitonio is a solid prospect and can anchor this OL in a few years but there is no rush. At 6'4" 320 lbs. he has plenty of size with quick feet to boot and add those to his 95STR , 86 PBK/91 RBK and you have the makings of a bookend OT.
1.24- Pittsburgh Steelers- CB Antone Exum Jr.- Virginia Tech
*Previous pick- DT Will Sutton*
This is a very intriguing but raw prospect which is perfect for the rebuilding Steelers. He's 6'1" 224 lbs. which is a big dude for a corner. 91SPD, 93AGI, 95ACC and can work on SPD through activity points. Also has elite JMP but is raw in football IQ, CTH and TAK which are all important but are also the easiest to work on in TC and throughout the season. I can see him being a top notch CB for the Steelers.
1.25- Tennessee Titans- OG Trai Turner- LSU
*Previous pick- WR Donte Moncrief*
The 6'3" 320 lbs. Trai Turner can be a plug and play OG for the Titans who are looking to revamp the OL with young talent. Turner has the size, 97STR, very quick feet, above average run/pass blocking and is only 20 years old so that has to be appealing.
1.26- Carolina Panthers- ILB Prince Shembo- Notre Dame
*Previous pick- ILB Prince Shembo*
This is the 2nd time a team has traded into this slot and I feel they will take the exact same player. Shembo is the top MLB in this class and a major need for the Panthers. He can play in any scheme at 6'2" 253 lbs., he is a freakish athlete 88SPD, 88AGI, 89 ACC but his STR 81 also allows him to shed tackles easily, this guy will be an absolute stud.
1.27- Pittsburgh Steelers- WR Martavis Bryant- Clemson
*Previous pick- OG Trai Turner*
Bryant gives the Steelers a large target on the outside, he has the athletic ability to get behind defenders, he doesn't have elite CTH but I think his size/SPD combo will be tough for defenders to cover.
1.28- Indianapolis Colts- OT Ulrick John- Georgia Southern
*Previous pick- OLB Marcus Smith*
John is 6'5" 312 lbs. plenty of athletic ability, he has average STR but makes up for it with elite run and pass blocking and top notch in both. He starts off with 62 AWR which will help him anchor that line.
1.29- Tennessee Titans- DE Dee Ford- Auburn
*Previous pick- OLB Marcus Smith*
Ford can step right in at RE , I didn't see how athletic he was the first time around but he matches quite well with both Clowney/Lawrence. Ford will have no problem shedding blocks with 88STR and has plenty of speed to track down QB's.
1.30- San Francisco 49ers- OG Zack Martin- Notre Dame
*Previous pick- OG Zack Martin*
I think Martin would be the perfect fit here for the 49ers, he's a top notch guard and won't have to start right away giving him time to develop. His 99 STR is excellent, along with the athleticism, he can be worked on at TC and throughout the season on other attributes.
1.31- Pittsburgh Steelers- ILB Christian Kirksey- Iowa
*Previous pick- ILB Christian Kirksey*
Kirksey would still be a solid addition, a guy who can play any scheme with size, SPD, STR with decent starting AWR who can also drop back into coverage if need be.
1.32- Pittsburgh Steelers- WR Odell Beckham Jr.- LSU
*Previous pick- CB Darqueze Dennard*
The Steelers now have OBJ and Martavis Bryant to throw to after a flurry of trades. OBJ doesn't have ideal size but plenty of speed, great set of hands with elite JMP, they would form a solid duo.
