I wanted to research the rate at which we've seen WR's and CB's 95 SPD or greater increase from 2002 to now. The yearly increases seemed to be in reasonable control until recently. There were comments during this offseason about GM's not getting expected trade value for tall & fast WR's. A couple people commented that the WR market, in their opinion (I share the opinion BTW) is saturated with tall and fast WR's which is the reason for the trades not going the way some GM's wanted. The info below shows the number of WR's and CB's with at least 95 SPD over each season.
I have said for a season or two that I believe our rookie classes are too good. We implemented the new regression system in to stop having so many great players but I can not help but think we could be shooting ourselves in the foot by having such good draft classes especially over the last 3-4 seasons. I though the topic could possibly be talked about here, in a civil manner of course.
*BTW, I am waiting for someone to attempt to very my dats between years 2011 and 2012 as I think I may have had a file missing some information. If this is true I'll update the data for those years.
