Quarterbacks and 500+ passing yards games
To pass for 500+ yards is not something common or easy to archive, so I decided to investigate the past events when It happened, I made a trivia on discord but didn’t get much interactions, Cardinals GM Scott Gardiner was intrigued by the question and he was so close to the answer, and his logic was formidable.
The total of games where a QB passed for 500 or more yards is: 14 games
Here you can see, the amount of games per year/season, being 3 in a single season record hold by Chiefs QB Eli Manning, the youngest brother also recorded the first 500+ yards game ever when played for Jacksonville Jaguars in 2005. So at the moment I’m writing this, he has the first and the most recent 500+ yards game.
2013 Eli Manning x3
2013 David Carr x1
2012 Alex Smith x1
2011 Peyton Manning x2
2009 Peyton Manning x1
2008 Jon Kitna x1
2008 Peyton Manning x1
2006 Trent Green x1
2005 Eli Manning x1
2005 Peyton Manning x1
2005 Matt Hasselbeck x1
This is the list of totals per quarterback, with Peyton Manning leading with 5 and his brother with 4, they’re the only 2 quarterbacks with multiple 500+ yards game, somehow gotta question if the last name have an effect, I know Peyton is coded for work different, but Eli doesn’t have anything other quarterbacks don’t have. But last name.
Peyton Manning x5
Eli Manning x4
David Carr x1
Alex Smith x1
Jon Kitna x1
Trent Green x1
Matt Hasselbeck x1
Finally here can see the amount of 500+ yards game per team, with chiefs and colts leading the race with 3, interesting that only 7 teams had a 500+ yards game so far. Specially surprising to not see teams as Cardinals, especially when I was using 79-79 %. Vikings that often dominate, Jets that were amazing on 2008, etc. Lot of powerful offenses, that not on the list
Chiefs x3
Colts x 3
Seahawks x2
Jaguars x2
Bengals x2
Falcons x1
Eagles x1
Short article, but expecting to do more investigations around other stats. Thanks for read
