Pre-Draft Top 10 Mock Draft
By Gary Cohen
Special to sfl-football.com

Based off of how crazy the off-season trades have been thus far, I am sure some of these pics will be moved to other teams. Still thought it would be fun to give This his shot so let’s see it how my view on the top 10 picks could possibly play out.

1.1 - Eagles - DE Frank Clark 22YO 6’3” 272LBS
99SPD 81AGI 88ACC 32AWR 56TAK
There is only one word to describe the athleticism that Frank Clark possesses. Freak. There seems to be a divide between most GM’s on whether AWR matters for an DE. I personally think this is the right pick here, and I am very interested to see how Clark’s career pans out.

1.2 - Jets - CB Byron Jones 22YO 6’1” 199LBS
99SPD 98AGI 97ACC 62CTH 64TAK 57AWR
I was back and forth on CB, TE or WR with this pick. Ultimately, I feel as though Kevin addresses his secondary, and Jones is the perfect pick. He is a legit stud with all attributes you look for.

1.3 - Chargers - SS Landon Collins 21 YO 6’0” 225LBS
94SPD 97AGI 97ACC 71CTH 85TAK 51AWR
The Chargers have a good duo of cornerbacks in Peterson and Gilmore, and Landon Collins would help complete the secondary. At 21 years of age, and with the attributes he currently has Collins could develop into one of the premier safeties in the league in a short period of time. I could also see Will trading this pick and adding more draft capital.

1.4 - Chargers - OT D.J Humphries 21 YO 6’5” 315LBS
96STR 76AGI 76ACC 94PBK 81RBK 55AWR
I could see the Chargers going WR here, but I think the fact that Waller is already 24 years of age scares the Chargers a bit. They end up adding the premiere tackle in this class (in my opinion) to help with the transition of going from QB Brady Quinn to Newley acquired Brock Osweiler.

1.5. - Falcons - WR Darren Walker 6’6” 24YO 255LBS
95SPD 88AGI 94ACI 73CTH 67AWR
I was debating between CB and WR here. I ended up going with WR to help with the newly established QB room acquired in a trade with Kansas City. Waller should immediately be the number one WR on the team and should cause nightmares for opposing defenses. Dude is a straight MONSTER.

1.6 - Steelers - TE Tyler Kroft 22YO 6’5” 247LBS
91SPD 71STR 80AGI 94ACC 51AWR
Steelers have a few holes to fill to say the least. I thought of going a few different ways here but TE Tyler Kroft has the potential to be a star addition to the newly formed offense in Pittsburgh. There are a few other movies that have yet to be announced (separate article coming soon) and I feel like Kroft could be the difference maker we need to make it to the playoffs.

1..7 - Jaguars - QB Jameis Winston 21YO 6’5” 231
69AWR 98THP 78THA 94INJ
Jaguars run to the podium to select the number one QB in this year’s draft. With the draft capital at the Jaguars have I think that after adding Winston (or possibly before the draft) they go get a mentor that helps develop Winston into a top QB in this league for the next 11+ seasons.

1.8 - Steelers - OLB Za’Darius Smith 22YO 6’4” 275LBS
87SPD 73STR 61AWR 89AGI 87ACC 83TAK
Smith comes in as a day one starter. He possesses all of the attributes GM Cohen likes, and with a little bit of development should be an anchor for the Steelers defense for the foreseeable future.

1.9 - 49ers - WR Amari Cooper 21YO 6’1” 211 LBS
94SPD 94AGI 98ACC 66AWR 88CTH
The 49ers have a need at the WR position and getting Cooper here makes a lot of sense. Adding Cooper to Sidney Rice is a sick move for the Niners and one that will only get better as Cooper is mentored by vet WR Andre Johnson.

1.10 - Seattle - DE Preston Smith 23YO 6’5” 265LBS
91SPD 88STR 84AGI 81ACC 33AWR
You never really know which way Rock ends up going in the draft. I feel as though Smith is the second best DE in this class, and since Seattle does not have many holes in my opinion, this is a great addition to Seattle’s defensive unit.
