It's that time of year again, like always this is meant to be fun. If I got your pick wrong it's because you're a liar and I'm dead on.
2015 SFL MOCK DRAFT V1.0
1.1- Philadelphia Eagles- DE Frank Clark- Michigan
CB could very well be in play here but I'm fairly certain Clark will be the pick and will add a much needed pass rusher to the DL, Clark is an absolute freak of nature. DOn't ask him to solve any math problems for you with his 32 AWR just point your finger at the QB and say "hulk smash".
1.2- New York Jets- WR Darren Waller- Georgia Tech
I don't see the jets even after the pickup of Devin Thomas passing on the 6'6" nightmare that is about to be unleashed on the AFC East. His hands are pedestrian and is already consider a "boomer" compared to the rest but none of that will matter on game time.
1.3- San Diego Chargers- WR Amari Cooper- Alabama
Amari Cooper is just an all around stable WR, to me one of the safest in the draft and in the same mold of WR Dez Bryant and if he can get the SPD to stay the same or skew upward then he's going to be a beast. Nowhere near the monsetr Waller is but a solid 6'1" and a possible 99SPD/99AGI/99ACC guy but with 88 CTH.
1.4- San Diego Chargers- CB Byron Jones- UConn
Jones is an absolute stud, he should come right in as a CB 1 or CB 2 right from the get go and put up solid numbers next to Peterson. He's 6'1" and another 99/99/99 candidate who will probably reach that potential. This would push Gilmore to NCB giving the Chargers possibly the best trio of corners in the SFL.
1.5- Atlanta Falcons- CB Marcus Peters- Washington
Peters has the desired 6'0" standard that alot of GM's like, he is special as a speed corner, great instincts for a young player and an elite ball hawk. He would have no trouble starting right away, if Deontae Johnson can do it and he's as athletically gifted then so can Peters.
1.6- Pittsburgh Steelers- RB Todd Gurley- Georgia
At 20 years old he fits this new regression era perfectly, he's also 6'1" 230 lbs. who is going to be a bitch trying to tackle on a weekly basis for DC's. Fill in RB Antonio Pittman filled his role nicely now it's time for Gurley to take over the duties for good.
1.7- Jacksonville Jaguars- QB Jameis "Crablegs" Winston- Florida State
The Jaguars get the best QB in this class Jameis Winston (aka ole crablegs), he as the ideal height 6'4" and frame 231 lbs. to be the prototypical franchise QB in the SFL. He has 2 stud WR an adequate OL and a decent run game to work with. Winston would start immediately and there will most definitely be growing pains.
1.8- Pittsburgh Steelers- TE Tyler Kroft- Rutgers
Kroft has great size for the position at 6'5" 247 lbs and could potentially be the fastest TE in the SFL barring skew. After adding stud WR Carlton Mitchell from yours truly, adding anoither stud like Kroft would give whoever the QB may be there in steel sity a formidable group to pass to.
1.9- San Francisco 49ers- RB Melvin Gordon- Wisconsin
I can't believe the 49ers are happy with their run game right now, not 1 runner over 1,000 yards and barely a 4 ypc average. Melvin Gordon would be a plug and play prospect, he has the size, speed and physical attributes to be an every down back in the SFL.
1.10- Seattle Seahawks- DE Preston Smith- Mississippi
He's 6'5" 265 lbs of pure SPD, he'll have no problems getting around or through offensive lineman with his size/skillset combo. He'll definitely give OC's in the NFC West nightmares trying to run away from this guy.
1.11- New Orleans Saints- WR Devante Parker- Louisville
Parker will be a stud for the Saints with his size 6'3" to go along with his world class speed. His hands are top 3 in this class as well, he could easily go higherbut would be a perfect WR1 for the Saints.
1.12- Baltimore Ravens- ILB Stephone Anthony- Clemson
Middle linebacker is crucial in a 3-4 if you don't have at least 2 very good ones then you might as well not even run it at all. Anthony would give the Ravens 2 studs in the middle. He has the perfect frame as a 3-4 ILB being 6'3" 245 lbs. whith quick feet, enough STR to get through tackles and get to the RB/QB, he'll form quite a duo with Dent.
1.13- Tennessee Titans- WR Stefon Diggs- Maryland
Diggs will be a solid addition to the Titans WR core, he isn't the largest WR in this class but he makes up for it with his athleticism, speed, some of the best hands in the class and his 21 years old age has to be a bonus also. He'll form an awesome trio with Gordon/newly acquired Victor Cruz.
1.14- Tennessee Titans- SS Landon Collins- Alabama
Collins may go higher than this but it's hard to predict since some GM's value S position more than others. Collins stands at 6'0" 225 lbs, he has off the charts athletic ability, he's a ball hawk and hits everything that moves so what's not to love here?
1.15- Indianapolis Colts- OLB Za'Darius Smith- Kentucky
Smith would be a solid addition to the Colts defense at 6'4" 275 lbs. he can fly to the QB or stop the running back in the backfield for a loss. His STR is less than ideal and don't ask him to fdrop into coverage but sacking the QB should be no problem at all.
1.16- Minnesota Vikings- WR Kaelin Clay- UConn
UConn is representiung in this class but this time on the offesne with Clay going to the Vikings. This is around where Jarvis Landry went for the Broncos last year which is about right. He has decent size at 6'2" but it's his world class speed that sets him apart from the rest. He will need to work on his hands and his JMP is pedestrian so I put him down a notch since some GM's like to see both CTH & JMP higher.
1.17- Green Bay Packers- TE Blake Bell- Oklahoma
Bell is another stud TE in the mold of Tyler Kroft but I bumped him down a bit due to his age He would be able to immediately come in and start. at 6'6" 250 lbs. he is going to be a nightmare to try and game plan against, his athleticism is off the charts and the only thing he may run into a problem in will be drops since he has basically no hands whatsoever.
1.18- Oakland Raiders- S Quandre Diggs- Texas
Another S with off the charts athleticism, he would most likely be the fastest S in the SFL. He's a tiny dude at 5'9" but already comes as a ball hawk who can tackle to go along with his insane JMP. Diggs is 1 of my favorite players in this class.
1.19- Jacksonville Jaguars- RB Jay Ajayi- Boise State
Winston has some weapons to throw to and now has a run game with Ajayi. H'es a big bruising type of back much in the same mold of Anthony Dixon who they traded away. He has decent speed for a guy his size and an excellent set of hands, his CAR will have to be worked on at the next level but his BTK is already elite which is a great start.
1.20- Houston Texans- WR Chris Conley- Georgia
The Texans land Conley here who has sneaky good attributes, at 6'3" that is always appealing but then you add his SPD/AGI/ACC combo and I'd say he's definitely on the Texans radar to give whoever the QB will be there another weapon besides Hill.
1.21- Cincinnati Bengals- OLB Benardrick McKinney- Mississippi
Mckinney could take over for Crable this year if need be, he has excellent size to play in any scheme fit. To go along with size he has great athletic ability, excellent STR to shed tacks, decent starting AWR, and an average tackler which are all pluses.
1.22- Philadelphia Eagles- CB Kevin Johnson- Wake Forest
The Eagles cointinue on the defensive side of the ball with CB Kevin Johnson , a good sized CB at 6'0", he would give the Eagles a nice CB2 alongside of Omar Bolden. He;s athletic, borderline ball hawk who should have no troubles going up for contested catches.
1.23- New York Giants- OLB Lorenzo Mauldin - Louisville
Mauldin could replace Abidi who has just hit the regression wall and he would replace him with basically an upgraded clone of his former self. Great size at 6'4" 259 lbs with blazing speed and acceleration but his STR let him slide a bit which i know some GM's covet but it didn't seem to matter or halt production for Ro. He'll obviously need to work on AWR and tackling at the next level but you can say that about most in the class.
1.24- Cincinnati Bengals- DE Dante Fowler Jr. - Florida
The Bengals continue to replace aging veterans and this time it's Fowler who will eventually replace Darryl Tapp. He's bit undersized but has the wheels to get by defenders, I'd like him to have more STR but his athletic ability should make up for his lower attributes.
1.25- Pittsburgh Steelers- CB Tevaughn Campbell - Regina
I suspect the Steelers would like to upgrade the secondary with a legit corner across from Washington, CB Nathan Jones no longer qualifies. Campbell is 6'0" unbelieveable athleticism which you cannot teach. His catch is a good start and his JMP is off the charts/elite but will also have to work on both his AWR/TAK at the pro level.
1.26- Oakland Raiders- ILB Eric Kendricks - UCLA
Kendricks is very athletic, has the STR to shed tackles easily, excellent closing speed. His AWR is solid, can drop into coverage with ease and a top notch tackler. Eric will fit right in with this group.
1.27- Chicago Bears- OT Brandon Scherff - Iowa
Scherff has adequate size for the position, brute STR, solid starting AWR, some of the quickest feet in this class, his blocking needs work which is why he falls a bit but he has the luxury of sitting a bit behind an already stacked roster.
1.28- Buffalo Bills- S Jaquiski Tartt - Samford
Tartt could come in right away and start immediately for the Bills, he'd give them decent size at the position, above average athleticism, his CTH/JMP are decent and his TAK is elite, he'll give the secondary a boost.
1.29- Tennesse Titans- ILB Jake Ryan- Michigan
He's a big LB capable of playing in any scheme, a true athlete with the STR to bust through tackles. Solid starting AWR and above average TAK. He can backup Hightower or play along side him in multiple scheme sets to utilize him.
1.30- Kansas City Chiefs- OT Ereck Flowers - Miami
Flowers is a big boy standing at 6'6" 329 lbs., he is surprisingly agile for a guys his size with quick feet. He should have no problem pushing the pile with his STR/SPD combo and comes with average blocking skils.
1.31- Green Bay Packers- OG Ali Marpet - Hobart
The first G comes off the board, GB solidified the the big TE with his 1st picks now comes back and helps the OL with Marpet. Ali is a big dude with great STR, he's very athletic but will need to work more on the blocking at the next level which bodes well ffor GB because those are the fastest attributes to go up.
1.32- Miami Dolphins- WR Dorial Green-Beckham - Oklahoma
The SB champs have the luxury of sitting back and taking BPA, I can see them taking a flier on 1 of the bigger WR if any of them pan out. Green-Beckham has great size at 6'5" and has decent SPD for a guy of his stature, top notch hands as well. JMP and AWR are a bit low but I can see him in a Calvin Johnson type role.
