Wide Receivers – Top 3
1. WR Darren Waller: In the past 4 draft classes… Waller is the tallest WR that has been made available as a rookie (currently there are 4 WR’s that are 6’6” in the SFL – only 2 of those are serviceable and rostered). There’s numerous other measurables that need to be taken into consideration, but… height alone will make Waller the first WR to be drafted in 2015 (I predict 2nd overall). For a BIG man, he’s out of the blocks quick [ACC = 94] and has great top end speed [SPD = 95]… a VERY disciplined route runner [AWR = 67]. As expected from a bigger man, Waller is tight in the hips and his hands can be suspect when challenged for a reception.
2. WR Stefon Diggs: Truly can do it all… excellent hands to haul in any type of throw [CTH = 85], can stretch the filed [SPD = 95] or make quick moves off the line [ACC = 95]. His GREASY hips can [AGI = 97] create separation from coverage and when needed he will engage with a defender [STR = 49] and is a willing blocker [RBK = 46]. They only things offering hesitation in selecting Diggs too early would be his slight frame [6’0” at 195 lbs] and the fact he’s not going to win a ton of jump balls in the endzone [JMP = 86].
3. WR Kaelin Clay: There were rumors that Kaelin Clay might dedicate himself to his 1st love… track and field (sprinter with dreams of Olympic GOLD in 2016)… he’s truly ELECTRIC [SPD = 99 / ACC = 99]. After much soul searching (and dialog with a financial planner) Clay declared for the SFL Draft and is focused on becoming a professional in the SFL. It’s not just his legs, he has GREAT hands [CTH = 83] and can be slippery in and out of cuts [AGI = 92]. Not the most disciplined route runner and may struggle with complicated schemes [AWR = 45]. Even though he has the height [6’2”] to compete for jumps balls he sometimes tends to shy away from it [STR = 34 / JMP = 76].
