The first round is kind of easy, most are predicted there and all could be seen as homeruns but as you get into round 2 and beyond those can be the money rounds, finding gems at a much cheaper cost. Most of my picks will be from the rookie signings that GM's posted on the site since I know exactly what they skewed up or down to, here is my favorites from rounds 2-4 and again these aren't in any particular or of how I like them but I'm just going from the top of the round to the bottom but feel free to say some names you liked and why.
2.2- CB Damian Swann- Georgia- GM Apolo Shapiro
22 years old, 6'0" 189 lbs. OVR 74 SPD 95 AWR 55 AGI 91 ACC 96
This was a solid pick here, Swann can top out at 98 SPD, 94 AGI, 99 ACC, he's only 22 years old and fills in right away the loss of Pierre Desir. His starting AWR of 55 is on par with both Rowe and Campbell who both went in round 1 albeit they are just slightly more athletic.
2.11- OLB Kwon Alexander- LSU- GM Nathan Jones
21 years old, 6'1" 227 lbs. OVR 82 SPD 90 STR 80 AWR 46 AGI 87 ACC 90 TAK 86
He is a bit undersized and his AWR is a little lower (That will be the theme of this draft) but other than that he is a stud OLB in the making, easily can be up for DROY if it weren't for that guy in Philly. His 90 SPD/90 ACC put him in rare company in the SFL only 2 other OLB in the league have those measurables and that's rookie Lorenzo Mauldin (CIN) and Jon Beason (DET) so to get arare specimen like this in round 2, I bow to you sir and say heck of a job and outstanding pickup.
2.13- FS Damarious Randall- Arizona State- GM Peter Fenger
23 years old, 5'11" 196 lbs. OVR 78 SPD 91 AGI 92 ACC 93 CTH 64 TAK 66
He's a bit older and just slightly undersized for my taste but that doesn't take away from the fact that if Peter works on his attributes (+2 SPD/ACC boost) then Randall will be only 1 of 6 FS with 94 SPD/96 ACC combo in the entire SFL which is pretty impressive considering they already landed stud SS Landon Collins in round 1 who has unreal athletic ability also. That was a heck of an upgrade to the secondary in 1 draft and more excellent value.
2.16- OG Laken Tomlinson- Duke- GM Anthony Fernandez
23 years old, 6'3" 323 lbs. OVR 84 SPD 71 STR 99 AWR 64 AGI 78 ACC 79 PBK 78 RBK 85
Tomlinson was my 2nd favorite OL in this draft class behind only Brandon Scherff. Tomlinson is in rare company in the SFL, there are only 4 other OL not OG but entire OL with his athletic ability- 71 SPD/78 AGI/ 79 ACC and the lowest 1 was drafted at 1.12 of the 1st round (Brandon Scherff- Baltimore). That is another unreal find and just loving what the Cowboys are doing over there with that team and now adds a plug and play starter in Tomlinson, Kudos to you sir.
2.20- CB Akeem King- San Jose State- GM Scott Gardiner
23 years old, 6'1" 215 lbs. OVR 78 SPD 95 STR 66 AWR 53 AGI 90 ACC 94 CTH 73 TAK 55
King is a solid all around CB, there were many in this draft but much of their success rides on the GM's willingness to start them in some capacity and King is no different. He has a chance to top out at 98 SPD/97 ACC at 6'1" but he's already a year behind being 23 so he will need to start in some capacity whether it be on the outisde or NCB to reap the benefits, if the cards commit to King he can be a stud in this league for a good amount of time but still a solid pick even if he's no more than a NCB for the Cards.
2.21- DE Markus Golden- Missouri- GM Brady Tinnin
22 years old, 6'3" 259 lbs. OVR 78 SPD 81 STR 81 AGI 84 ACC 86 TAK 59
Golden is scheme fit dependable so if you run a 3-4 you probably crossed him off your list but the guy is a stud in the making. He can top off at 84 SPD, 84 STR, 87 AGI, 89 ACC making only 1 of 2 DE's in the SFL with 84 SPD/89 ACC combo (Larry English-WAS). There were a bunch of DE that came close but none had those comparables together so to get this type of player close to the end of round 2 is crazy imo but again if you're playing the 3-4 or even a hybrid it would be hard to take him there at only 259 lbs, great pickup by Brady though and he continues to kill it on draft day.
2.29- TE Blake Bell- Oklahoma- GM Romeo Mendez
24 years old, 6'6" 250 lbs. OVR 76 SPD 87 AGI 85 ACC 87 CTH 63 JMP 85 BTK 69 PBK 66 RBK 69
Bell can top out at 90 SPD, 88 AGI, 90 ACC making him only 1 of 2 (Tyler Kroft- KC- If Rodany decides to boost Kroft) if Romeo decides to use boosts on him but he should start right away for the blue men and should put up solid numbers in his rookle year even with the gross AWR and pedestrian hands (Our very own Tommy Bohanon started off with 50 AWR and 60 CTH yet he's put up legit numbers). This to me is an absolute steal at almost 3rd round value, not really sure how he fell this far but good on Romeo to spot unreal value at this stage.
2.32- CB Tye Smith- Towson State- GM Wade Pearce
22 years old, 6'0" 195 lbs. OVR 73 SPD 97 STR 65 AGI 99 ACC 99 CTH 64 JMP 90 TAK 45
Continuing on the trend of corners in this draft, Smith can top out at 99 SPD/99AGI/99ACC at 22 years old and 6'0" which makes him an absolute steal if the texans start him in some capacity because like many of the tall fast corners his AWR is pedestrian at 43 so the best way to progress that is by starting him, the unfortunate part is they have a tendency of getting burned so it's a damned if you do or damned if you dont scenario but you can't argue the value here is off the charts in which I thought Wade had an excellent draft altogether.
3.3- ILB Jake Ryan- Michigan- GM Anthony Fernandez
23 years old, 6'2" 240 lbs. OVR 75 SPD 86 STR 82 AGI 86 ACC 89 CTH 60 TAK 83
Ryan is an absolute stud so getting him at the top of the 3rd round is again unheard of type of value here, he tops out at 89 SPD, 85 STR, 89 AGI, 92 ACC putting him in rare company of being only 1 of 2 ILB in the SFL with 89 SPD/92 ACC combo but if the Cowboys 1 wanted to make him a 1 of just add the +2 STR and he'd be the first with his athletic ability to go along with the STR. He's doing a heck of a job with them Cowboys, beter than that other tool of a GM that was there before him
.
3.5- DT Grady Jarret- Clemson- GM Scott Gardiner
22 years old, 6'0" 305 lbs. OVR 80 SPD 72 STR 97 AGI 75 ACC 71 TAK 77
Jarret is another who could be in rare company, he can top out at 75 SPD, 99 STR, 78 AGI and 74 ACC making him only 1 of 2 (Sylveter Williams- NYJ) with his SPD/AGI/ACC combo but if you add in his 99 STR he is only 1 of 1 with his athleticism to go along with the 99 STR that's pretty amazing to get a player of that stature in round 3. I'm not sure if a player like this would work at NT in a 3-4, I've never played a smaller than 315 lbs/95+ NT in a 3-4 before so maybe someone can clue me in but either way another exceptional get by the Cards here.
3.19- OLB Bud Dupree- Kentucky- GM Rodany Mendez
22 years old, 6'4" 269 lbs. OVR 76 SPD 85 AGI 84 ACC 85 CTH 60 TAK 76
Man if I only had back to back picks in the 3rd Dupree would have been an excellent addition who can top out at 88 SPD, 87 AGI, 88 which he would be 1 of 6 with those attributes. At 6'4" 269 lbs he's going to be a beast in our division which is always brutal but good on Rodany for identifying the talent and going after him. This was a solid dclass for OLB help and Dupree is at the top of the list.
4.1- CB Josh Shaw- USC- GM Daren Roberts
23 years old, 6'0" 201 lbs. OVR ? SPD 96 STR 73 AGI 95 ACC 97 CTH 61 TAK 70
I have no workout for Shaw since Daren hasn't put up his rookie signings but Shaw looks like another raw CB who with some love will be a 99/98/99 player, he's 23 so again like a bunch of others already listed his potential is based on if he gets a start in some capacity otherwise he'll be a NCB or dime corner for life which isn't terrible either but another solid corner pick up late.
4.3- OG Ian Silberman- Boston College- GM Kevin Mullendore
21 years old, 6'5" 305 lbs. OVR 76 SPD 69 STR 96 AGI 76 ACC 81 PBK 69 RBK 81
If you look at just the athleticism he can top out at 72 SPD, 99 STR 79 AGI, 84 ACC, he would be the only OL (not just OG but all OL) in the SFL to have those measurables but will the abysmal 69 PBK, 81 RBK hold him back from becoming the monster that he looks like on paper? I have no true knowledge of this but a theory of mine is that OG don't need the blocking as an OT and I think they rely more on STR but you all in the know can perhaps educate me more since I'm not 100% sure, either way this is such a great pickup that we were eyeing for awhile and not really sure why we never pulled the trigger (probably the blocking) so kudos to Kevin for making it happen and it will be interesting to see how he does.
4.8- DE Ryan Russell- Purdue- GM Anthony Cepparulo
23 years old, 6'4" 267 lbs. OVR 70 SPD 84 STR 80 AGI 83 ACC 83 TAK 50
I hope the OL's in the NFC EAST are elite because you're about to be violated but not only Frank Clark but Ryan Russell is no slouch either and will top out at 87 SPD, 83 STR, 86 AGI, 86 ACC which will place him in elite company of 10 DE's, 1 of them is the Eagles very own Frank Clark. If they only had a QB things would be looking much brighter but it's hard not to want to watch what these 2 will be doing to QB's in this league and solid job building up the defense.
