It's Ideal usually to grade drafts 3-4 years out and most of the times I'd agree but who doesn't love the obnoxious grades well before they even hit their prime?
Besides I need activity points badly so DEAL WITH IT!!!!
Also a side note, I'm not sure how to just compare them to rookies in this class so this is compared to the entire SFL.
1.1- LE Frank Clark- Philadelphia Eagles- GM Anthony Cepparulo GRADE C
18 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 FR, 1 pass def.
Comments:
Man this has got to be a Colossal bust in the mind of Anthony, 1 sack in 6 games can't be what they expected when they drafted him. He is top 10 in tackles for loss which shows some promise and there is alot of time left to produce but up to this point it looks like the Eagles should have kept their picks.
1.2- RB Todd Gurley- New York Jets- GM Kevin Mullendore GRADE A
173 carries, 898 yards, 5.19 ypc average, 2 TD, 0 fumbles, 2 receptions, 60 yards, 5 pancake blocks, 2 sacks allowed
Comments:
He's 1st in carries, 2nd in rushing yards and has been a big reason why the Jets are 6-1. He's also top 10 in yards per carry average, I was a little nervous of his INJ so I had Melvin Gordon slightly higher than him because of that but he's been nothing but a beast since being selected.
1.3- WR Darren Waller- Denver Broncos- GM Tom Collins GRADE B
24 receptions, 342 yards, 14.25 ypc average, 3 TD, 1 drop, 4 pancake blocks
Comments:
He's showed flashes of being elite but not enough for me to annoint him yet, his best outing was against our spotty defense grabbing 8 catches for 133 yards and 0 TD but he has helped the Broncos win, how much I'm not certain as I haven't watched any other Broncos games. Around 49tth in rec, 24th in yards and middle of the pack in TD catches.
1.4- WR Amari Copper- San Diego Chargers- GM William Cook GRADE B
32 receptions, 479 yards, 14.97 ypc average, 2 TD, 1 drop
Comments:
I feel like he's on the same pace as Darren Waller who was selected right in front of him but is playing with a much lesser QB imo. The fact that he's having the season that he is with Brock Osweiler is impressive. He like Waller is middle of the pack as far as receptions, yards a little higher and TD a bit lower.
1.5- CB Byron Jones- Denver Broncos- GM Tom Collins GRADE C+
16 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 interception, 12 deflections, 10 catches allowed
Comments:
Again as the 5th overall selection I'd say I'd want more production than 1 INT but i do like the pass deflections which shows signs he could be ready to move upwards, he's not bad but those stats are pretty meh for me and no I'm not just busting a division rivals balls although it's an added bonus.
1.6- WR Chris Conley- Houston Texans- GM Wade Pearce GRADE B
23 receptions, 453 yards, 19.7 ypc average, 3 TD, 3 drops
Comments:
Another WR and another B grade, it's not my fault but they all seem to be giving out the same production at this point. All the Wr seem to be fairly productive so far making a decent impact for teams. He like all of the WR selected before him are middle of the pack in catches, yards and TD.
1.7- QB Jameis Winston- Jacksonville Jaguars- GM Olivier Ratajczak GRADE B+
42/90, 46.67 comp%, 545 yards, 2 TD, 5 INT, 50.5 QB rating, 8 rushes, 54 yards, 1 TD, 1 fumble
Comments:
I know the stats for Winston aren't amazing or astronmical in any way but he hasn't been terrible and won his 1st game as a Jaguar to a division rival no less which is always good for bragging rights at the very least. He isn't getting destroyed as bad as rookies QB's usually do imo.
1.8- CB Marcus Peters- Jacksonville Jaguars- GM Olivier Ratajczak GRADE C+
16 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 10 deflections, 6 catches allowed
Comments:
I'm starting to see rookie patterns here as Peters is awfully similar to CB Byron Jones who was selected a few picks higher. same amount of tackles, 1 tfl less, no INT but Peters seems to have a few less CTHA. I'm not sure what the norm is for rookies corners that high in the draft as I've never taken 1 this high yet but I'm not sure I'd be thrilled with that production.
1.9- SS Landon Collins- San Francisco 49ers- GM Peter Fenger GRADE A
21 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 FF, 1 INT, 2 DEF, 2 CTHA
Comments:
It sucks for the 49ers that Collins will be sidelined for 6 more weeks with an injury but in his short time period he was having top notch CB numbers and I think he would have been much better by now than the CB's listed ahead of him. I have no doubt he'll make a huge impact when he comes back in time for the 49ers hopefully playoff run.
1.10- RT Ali Marpet- Seattle Seahawks- GM Rock Hewko GRADE INCOMPLETE
No Stats to this date.
Comments:
It looks like marpet will be the starter next season when Ojinnak hits free agency. He has no starts to date and any player who hasn't started or is injured since the start will get an incomplete instead of a grade for obvious reasons.
1.11- CB Ronald Darby- New Orleans Saints- GM Nathan Jones GRADE A
29 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 1 FF, 1 FR, 2 INT, 1 TD, 9 DFL, 14 CTHA
Comments:
Just as I think I know how this is going to play out then here comes little Ronald Darby who (I'm not going to lie I thought was a reach) is beating all those 6'+ corners taken ahead of him but let's be real he is 5'11" so he's pretty close. He's also 1 of the more productive corners at least the rookie corners that is and already has a pick 6.
1.12- LT Brandon Scherff- Baltimore Ravens- GM Norbert Huszti GRADE A
40 Pancake Blocks, 1 Sack Allowed
Comments:
He's 8th overall in the league in Pancake Blocks so there's not much to say, he's been absolutely stellar for the Ravens. I have to believe the OL is a big reason they're challenging for the divsion.
1.13- CB Eric Rowe- Green Bay Packers- GM Gary Hickman GRADE C-
8 Tackles, 1 DEF, 2 CTHA
Comments:
He's clearly the NCB or dime CB for GB and you can't blame them for playing the more polished corners like Prince Amukamara but it's still brutal to not have the 13th overall pick have some better production than that.
1.14- RB Melvin Gordon- New York Giants- GM Romeo Mendez GRADE A+
171 carries, 888 yards, 5.19 YPC average, 9 TD, 2 Fumbles
Comments:
Another stud runner here and we most likely knew these 2 players were going to be something special and so far both top runners aren't disappointing. Gordon is 2nd in carries, 3rd in yards and 1st overall in touchdowns so to say he's having an exceptional rookie season is an understatement so far and 1 of the sole reasons why the Giants are vying for the top spot with the Cowboys.
1.15- CB Kevin Johnson- Atlanta Falcons- GM Garth Pearce GRADE C-
17 Tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 DEF, 10 CTHA
Comments:
I'd have to believe the the Falcons have to be disappointed in the production so far. He's clearly the NCB but giving up 10 CTHA to teams 3rd best corner is brutal imo, there is plenty of time to become legit but so far it's just meh and I expect him to turn it up soon.
1.16- CB TeVaughn Campbell- Minnesota Vikings- GM Neal Wintermute GRADE C-
18 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 6 pass deflections, 14 catches allowed
Comments:
Like above it's understandable why Campbell doesn't have the numbers as the other corners since he's clearly the NCB in Minnesotas secondary but again 14 CTHA as the NCB is a bit more than you'd like to see and a big reason for the grade, along with the low production.
1.17- ROLB Bernardrick McKinney- San Diego Chargers- GM William Cook GRADE A
24 Tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF, 1 INT, 2 pass deflections, 2 catches allowed
Comments:
McKinney is having himself a solid 1st half of his rookie season, definitely the rookies have been brightspots on the Chargers team this season. He's 3rd in tackles amongst rookie ROLB, tied for 1st with Kwon Alexander in sacks for rookies. He is having a very productive year and should close out strong.
1.18- WR Kaelin Clay- Oakland Raiders- GM Brad Barber GRADE A
33 receptions, 608 yards, 18.42 ypc average, 7 TD, 2 drops, 1 Pancake block
Comments:
Before I get blasted for being biased, I have never put my guys on any lists but when I do i back them up with stats. He is 3rd with the rookies in this class in receptions, 1st in yards, he's 7th in yards per catch and 1st in touchdowns. He is having an outstanding year and is one of the bright spots in our not so great 1st half of the season. I hope he can stay healthy and break the WR record this year as he's been awesome for us.
