2016 SFL MOCK DRAFT V1.0
1.1- Tennessee Titans- RB Derrick Henry- Alabama
This is a no brainer not only because Apolo told us who he's taking but he's the clear cut best prospect in the draft by a country mile imo. first off he is a man amongst boys at 6'2" 240 lbs, plus only 20 years old, he is ridiculously fast for a guy his size but can plow right through or over you if need be, if there is a flaw it's that he isn't vwery polished as a reciever but I'm sure he'll find a way.
1.2- Tennessee Titans- CB T.J. Green- Clemson
Per the man himself we have T.J. Green coming off the board to the Titans, 6'3" corners are like unicorns in this league. Not only is he tall but has a chance to max out at 99SPD/99AGI/99ACC, his JMP is also legit but will need to work on both AWR and CTH, you just cant teach size.
1.3- Detroit Lions- CB James Bradberry- Samford
Another 99/99/99 player here with the 3rd overall pick, Bradberry gives him the size and pure athletic ability that Claiborne didn't give him, he also has decent football IQ right out of the gate, 6'1" corner who should have no problem with contested catches.
1.4- Pittsburgh Steelers- RB Ezekiel Elliott- Ohio State
Elliott and Howard are very similar backs but I think Zeke will edge him out here who has a nice blend of power, elusiveness and speed with solid BTK. His CAR need some work and this isn't entirely a need here but I did see mcfadden on the trade block so I think the writing may be on the wall.
1.5- Detroit Lions- RB Jordan Howard- Indiana
The Lions hand a very nice duo there with RB Rashard Mendehall and Mike Goodson but Goodson will be a free agent and it's time for some new, younger version to step in and Howard looks like he could be a wrecking ball. Good size, speed and elusiveness for a powerback and comes with good starting CAR and BTK to form another solid tandem in the backfield.
1.6- Pittsburgh Steelers- CB Deandre Houston-Carson- Northern Iowa
Casrson is kind of a raw prospect in the same mold as 1.2 stud T.J. Green, both are very tall prospects, Carson is 6'2" 199 lbs, not nearly as athletic as T.J. Green but plenty athletic in his own right, top notch JMP ability, he'll need to work on the AWR and CTH but overall looks like a solid prospect.
1.7- Pittsburgh Steelers- QB Jared Goff- California
I realize it appears as though the Steelers aquired QB Andre Woodson but he's already 30 years old and will continue to regress, this would be a perfect time to add Goff, let him play some games, utilize the mentorship because Goff is actually an excellent QB to develop since he has really good starting AWR, decent arm and great THA and the future of the STeelers is now.
1.8- New Orleans Saints- WR Michael Thomas- Ohio State
The prodical sun returns to Orleans, he could come in and immediately start for the Saints as Thomas could be a 99/99/99 guy capable of taking it to the house on any play but the thing is he's not just a 1 trick pony, he has solid starting football IQ and great hands to boot.
1.9- Buffalo Bills- TE Nick Vannett- Ohio State
So now that the young AJ McCarron is the Bills QB why not get him a solid target, I didn't see a WR worthy of this selection so TE Nick Vannett would be a solid addition, he has decent hands but it's his 6'5" size to go along with his blazing fast speed which will make him an absolute nightmare to try and cover, he's also an adequate blocker which will be great on running plays.
1.10- San Diego Chargers- OT Ronnie Stanley- Notre Dame
There are aonly a few things certain in life.... Death...Taxes... GM Will Cook taking an OL in the 1st round. I do have to admit though, Stanley is every bit worth this selection, an absolute stud at the position, he does everything well, elite STR, pass and run blocking should allow him to anchor that OL well beyond Will's reign as the GM of the Chargers.
1.11- Kansas City Chiefs- OT Laremy Tunsil- Ole Miss
Tunsil gives the Chiefs an anchor along the OL, some serious protection for young QB Ryan Tannehil. Another top notch tackle who goes right after Stanley. He has the STR to hold against bull rushers and the quick feet to handle the speed rushers, he has a solid 6'5" 310 lbs frame and already elite run and pass blocking.
1.12- Kansas City Chiefs- RE Joey Bosa- Ohio State
I can't think the Chiefs are excited to go into this season with Caraun Reid another season. Joey Bosa would be an excellent addition and should be able to play in any scheme for them, he and Tyson Jackson will form a solid duo and I'd expect Bosa to take over for jackson in a season or 2 when regression hits hard. Bosa has the SPD, power, burst to get to the QB.
1.13- Carolina Panthers- CB Xavier Howard- Baylor
There is a slew of corners who are on their last legs in Carolina, a ressurgence is probably necessary and Howard looks like an excellent fit here. Solid starting football IQ, 6'0" with great STR, wont be much of a jumper but excellent hands and a solid tackler make him an ideal fit, he can start right away at NCB and eventually take over at CB1.
1.14- New Orleans Saints- DT Kenny Clark- UCLA
Clark isn't a massive bodied DT but you wouldn't know it as his brute STR should allow him to barrell right through the OL to the QB or RB, not only does he have the power to disrupt but also has the SPD and elusiveness to cause endless havoc for offensive coordinators.
1.15- New York Giants- CB Jalen Ramsey- Florida State
The entire secondary will be in the retirement home pretty soon and some should be right now. There definitely needs to be an influx of young talent there and Jalen Ramsey looks like a solid prospect. He stands at 6'1" with solid attributes, he seems all around polished, excellent starting AWR, great STR, solid hands, decent JMP and excellent tackler, I think if some of his athletic traits skew upwards he could be an excellent addition.
1.16- Tampa Bay Buccaneers- OLB Kevin Dodd- Clemson
Dodd seems like a solid fit for the Bucs here who rely heavily on the LB, he has the size at 6'5" 277 lbs to play in any scheme, very athletic for a guy his size and has the STR to shed tackles to go along with his adequate tackling, he should come in right away and be a force on that Bucs defense.
1.17- Dallas Cowboys- WR Will Fuller- Notre Dame
I think the Cowboys will restock the WR cupboard here, there are a few that might attract the Cowboys to them but I think Fuller gives them the pure speed that Meachum once possessed but is regressing quickly. Fuller has the potential to be a 99/99/99 candiadate with a good skew and some points added to go along with great hands and excellent JMP.
1.18- Kansas City Chiefs- FS Deiondre' Hall- Northern Iowa
Hall is a great get for the Chiefs whose DB's are aging, Hall could come in right away or hang back for a year and learn under a veteran. he's an athletic freak of nature at 93 SPD/95AGI/95ACC, his 89 JMP is very nice to go along with 77 TAK. I might be putting him too low on the list but it's hard to guage where safeties go.
1.19- San Diego Chargers- SS Kevin Byard- Mid Tennessee State
Byard reminds me alot of the guy he just traded away Jordan Richards. He's only 5'11" but dont let the size fool you, his athleticism is off the charts, has really good JMP and elite tackling.
1.20- Tampa Bay Buccanneers- CB Ryan Smith- NC Central
The Bucs have 3 corners 30 or over with 1 on the way there next year so it seems like a perfect spot to take a corner. Seems like a good player who can sit a year or 2 as a NCB, with his excellent SPD, solid hands, almost elite JMP and top notch TAK, he'll just need to work on the AWR which shouldn't be a problem in TB.
1.21- Denver Broncos- DE DeForest Buckner- Oregon
Buckner has all the traits to be a stud in this league and in some ways I like him over Bosa. He has the size to play in any scheme 6'7" 290 lbs., plenty of athletic ability, good starting football IQ and above average TAK, he would be a plug and play type of player.
1.22- Tennessee Titans- OLB Darron Lee- Ohio State
I see a few roster openings for the Titans and 1 of them is at OLB, Darron Lee seems like a great fit, he doesn't have unreal size at 6'1" 232 lbs but he's extremely athletic, and his 77 STR should allow him to shed tackles easily.
1.23- Cincinnati Bengals- QB Carson Wentz- North Dakota
Stanback will start his regression and the bengals best be prepared, QB Carson Wentz is as good as any in this class, he has good starting football IQ, an above average arm with accuracy to boot, he can sit a year or 2 behind Stanback and get mentored by the veteran.
1.24- Miami Dolphins- OG Cody Whitehair- Kansas State
If the Dolphins don't trade these picks I see they're looking for a G and Whitehair is a top notch G in this class, not overly big but his 99 STR means he wont be bullied, not only does he have STR but also very quick feet. His run and pass blocking are bordering on the above average/elite side.
1.25- Miami Dolphins- OT John Theus- Georgia
Also looking for an OT to protect there investment, John Theus is an incredible talent with excellent footwork able to handle speed rushers with his super quick feet, able to handle bull rushers with his 99 STR, has elite run blocking and above average pass blocking just needs work on the AWR which shouldn't be a problem.
1.26- Seattle Seahawks- ILB B.J. Goodson- Clemson
I can see the title now...ROCK GET"S A BJ! I just looked for a position of need and the most athletic freak that is in the group and Goodson seems like that guy but he just isn't athletic he's also very strong which makes him able to play in just about any scheme, good cth so he wont be a liability in pass coverage and an average tackler but it's the easiest to progress.
1.27- Tennessee Titans- RG Joe Thuney- N.C. State
Lastley the Titans can concentrate on the only position left which is the RG position after trading away James Carpenter to yours truly. Thuney is a solid G, good SPD, very good STR, very quick feet gives him the ability to pull to his right or left side with ease and above average at both run and pass blocking.
1.28- Chicago Bears- DE Yannick Ngakoue- Maryland
What do you give a team that really doesn't need anyone? How about this guy? Ngakoue is definitey suited for the 4-3 which I believe the Bears play, only 6'2" 252 lbs but should really be able to get after the QB with his 86 SPD, 84 AGI, 87 ACC, you cqan never have too many dominant pass rushers.
1.29- Houston Texans- OG Connor McGovern- Missouri
Guards are never sexy picks but they're needed, he would provide solid depth for the Texans OL, he has quick feet, not the brute STR as others but above average run and pass blocking also.
1.30- Denver Broncos- WR Cody Core- Ole Miss
He would provide solid depth to an already strong WR core, at 6'3" he's the 2nd tallest reciver in this class. He has really good SPD and above average JMP, like many prospecys he'll need to work on AWR and his hands but can work on those easily as the slot WR.
1.31- Indianapolis Colts- QB Dak Prescott- Mississippi State
I don't usually believe a word of what Darryl says come draft time, it's usually full of smokescreens but I think he has a general interest in a QB, Prescott would be an awesome prospect to progress, not overly tall at 6'2" 235 lbs but he has a rocket arm (95) and top notch THA (92), Quinn could mentor him up, Breck also has the activity points to change his QB tendency so I think this would be a great fit for both parties.
1.32- San Francisco 49ers- OC Ryan Kelly- Alabama
An Alabama prospect opens the round and closes it, Ryan Kelly would be an excellent addition since there seems to be a need there after the departure of Kyle Cook, 6'4" 311 lbs would make him 1 of the bigger center's in the league, I think his SPD will improve but he has quick feet and almost elite blockign already plus excellent starting football IQ. I think he'd fit in nicely with the older veteran OL already on the team.
