2016 SFL MOCK DRAFT ROUND 2
What a fun and interesting, wild and crazy 1st round where we saw 4 QB's go, I love to see that as a guy who enjoys grooming the QB's it's really cool. Only 2 OL going in round 1, wow that might be a record and I expect a bunch to go on day 2.
2.1- New York Jets- RT John Theus- Georgia
Theus definitely has 1st round potentiall at 6'6" 313 lbs, has the potential to be the fastest OL in this class, he can sit behind Ducasse for a year and get some TC/ fill in for progression as his blocking skilss are bordering on elite.
2.2- Denver Broncos- RB C.J. Hamm- Austin Peay
I think Hamm will go high in the 2nd here after the top tier RB went he appears to be the next best. He has the size to be an every down back, it appears his STR is good enough depending on skew, he's also top notch at as a recieving threat as well and could immediately fill in as a RB 2 or even be a 1-2 punch with Dwyer.
2.3- Pittsburgh Steelers- FS Keanu Neal- Florida
There is a glaring need at DB for the Steelers who don't pick until round 4. Neal is a tall S at 6'0" 211 lbs, extremely athletic, top notch tackler with around average JMP.
2.4- New York Jets- WR Devin Lucien- Arizona State
Lucien has the size at 6'2" 200 lbs, he has the potential with work to be a 99/99/99 guy or close with a skew upwards. Thomas/Simpson are solid but both are on the wrong side of 30 so there could be a need here. Lucien was mocked in all that i saw in the 1st round so some solid value here.
2.5- Arizona Cardinals- LG Cody Whitehair- Kansas State
Some of the OL are getting up there in age, they will be regressing fast but lucky for GM Scott Gardiner, Whitehair is plug and play from day 1 if need be, I view him as the top G in this class and is pretty rare that an OL of his caliber is still here in round 2. As athletic as they come, top notch brute STR with above average to elite blocking right out of the gate.
2.6- Minnesota Vikings- OG Joe Thuney- N.C. State
I have to believe that the Vikings need an upgrade at the position, Thuney is a solid G , 6'5" 304 lbs, 93 STR with excellent athletic ability to go along with above average blocking, he would be an upgrade at LG for sure.
2.7- Arizona Cardinals- OC Ryan Kelly- Alabama
I think the Cards will continue along the OL this time taking care of the center position, I really like Ryan Kelly, he's one of the bigger C at 6'4" 311 lbs, super quick feet, adequate STR, top of the C class in football IQ and excellent run and pass blocker.
2.8- New Orleans Saints- OC Evan Boehm- Missouri
The Saints did a great job shoring up the OT position with top notch Roniie Stanley and now they take care of the glaring need at center, Boehm is another decent sized C at 6'2" 309 lbs and very athletic, also vert strong, he isn't as aware and his RBK/PBK isn't as polished as Kelly but still a solid selection here.
2.9- Dallas Cowboys- DE Matthew Judon- Grand Valley State
The Cowboys could be looking for a DE as Vinny Curry has been seen on the shopping block if I'm not mistaken. Judon lacks in STR but is a pass rushing exttrodinaire, I don't know all the GM's tendencies in the league but I know Vinny Curry is similar in stature so the pass rushing ability might be too hard to pass up for GM Anthony Fernandez.
2.10- Baltimore Ravens- RB C.J. Procise- Notre Dame
Procise is a big back, decent STR, good athletic ability, who is also a solid receiver out of the backfield. He'll need to work on the CAR and BTK like all young backs do but could be the future in Baltimore.
2.11- Denver Broncos- ILB B.J. Goodson- Clemson
Good size at 6'1" 241 lbs, Goodson isn't a big need with Alec Ogletree but it's hard to pass up Goodson here who has off the charts athletic ability and solid STR to shed tackles, the Broncos I believe play alot of mixed coverage on defense so having a guy like Goodson who can cover and rush would be essential.
2.12- Miami Dolphins- DT A'Shawn Robinson- Alabama
Robinson is a solid get here next to Cody, at 6'3" 307 lbs with 91 STR, he's plenty strong but it's his athletic ability that sets him apart from the pack. I like as an added bonus that he's already at 75 TAK as well.
2.13- New York Jets- OG Connor McGovern- Missouri
McGovern is a bit undersized at 6'4" 304 lbs. but has very quick feet that will definitely make up for it, his STR is also adequate with excellent run/pass blocking make this a solid pickup along the OL.
2.14- Minnesota Vikings- CB Xavien Howard- Baylor
It's really surprising to me that Howard falls all the way down here but i was trying to find a fit. Howard has really good starting football IQ, he's 6'0" but I'm assuming the SPD/ACC drop perhaps? Either way a 6'0" corner with 60+ AWR in round 2 is great value.
2.15- San Diego Chargers- CB KeiVarae Russell- Notre Dame
Just spelling out his name is annoying so you know he's going to be a Charger! He doesn't possess Ideal size but he has a chance to top out at 99 SPD/99AGI/99 ACC if he stays the same or skews up and that has to be very appealing especially in round 2.
2.16- Green Bay Packers- OT Spencer Drango- Baylor
The Packers have a bunch of 1 year contracts up and mostly along the OL so I'd look for them to start planning for the future and Drango looks really solid at 6'5" 315 lbs, strong as an ox, unreal athletic ability, he'll need to work on blocking and AWR but I really like him in this group of OL.
2.17- Oakland Raiders- WR Josh Doctson- TCU
I'm not a fan of these WR in this class but I really like Doctson coming out of college this year and I like him all acrossed the board, he's 1 of the taller WR at 6'2", I'll have to see if his SPD/ACC skew down but if not or it goes up I really like the player and will fit in nicely with the pack.
2.18- Tennessee Titans- OLB Joshua Perry- Ohio State
First off how the hell do the Titans still have draft picks left, I knew i should have asked for more for that damn G. It's clear the Titans like size at the position so Joshua Perry would make another solid addition at OLB, either spot. Good over athlete, his STR is excellent and can fall back into coverage if need be.
2.19- New York Jets- QB Christian Hackenberg- Penn State
My gawd are the Jets up again, wtf people stop giving your picks to Apolo 2.0 over here. Hackenberg would be a solid addition, he's tall at 6'4" 235 lbs, a rocket arm are his highlights, he will have to work on the football IQ and his THA but has at least 2 seasons before he even gets a start, he can work on those through TC and a year of mentorship.
2.20- Cleveland Browns- DT Adam Gotsis- Georgia Tech
I don't necessarily love the size of Gotsis at 288 lbs but it's really hard to deny the athletic ability he has, plus his STR is really good which could make him a guy who wreaks havoc in the middle and those guys are always fun unless you're going against them.
2.21- Baltimore Ravens- DT Austin Johnson- Penn State
I know the ravens play the 3-4 but Johnson would be a solid addition, all the ravens are doing at this point is adding depth for the future. Johnson has the size at 6'4" 314 lbs to anchor the DL if anything happened to the starter, he has the elite STR, pretty good athlete who already has 80 TAK.
2.22- Minnesota Vikings- OLB Devondre Campbell- Minnesota
He appears to have solid athletic ability and 6'4' 232 lbs. plus his STR will eaily allow him to break through tackles to get to the QB or RB. Breck would approve of this addition for sure.
2.23- Cincinnati Bengals- CB Brandon Williams- Texas A&M
Williams doesn't have the elite size but he has the athleticism most GM's covet, in addition he has above average JMP and TAK. The Bengals are lacjking ddepth at the position and Williams gives them that.
2.24- Baltimore Ravens- OLB Kamelai Correa- Boise State
Correa will provide solid depth for the Ravens, he's an athlete with good STR, decent coverage ability to go along with above average TAK.
2.25- Dallas Cowboys- OLB Cory Littleton- Washington
Littleton is another big LB at 6'3" 230+ lbs, sneaky athletic for a guy his size, top notch STR, coverage ability and a solid TAK.
2.26- Buffalo Bills- P Drew Kaser- Texas A&M
As I search the free agent P list I almost cringed when i saw what was out there, it's a real need for the Bills, special teams is a crucial part of winning imo and PUNTERS ARE PEOPLE TOO, MAN!
2.27- Oakland Raiders- OLB Devante Bond- Oklahoma
I like Bond all around from his solid STR which stands out to me to his ability to get to the QB and RB, his TAK and coverage ability are really good also.
2.28- Chicago Bears- SS Jalen Mills- LSU
Mills can learn for awhile behind roll, he has good size at 6'0" 191 lbs, athletic, strong and elite JMP/TAK.
2.29- Cincinnati Bengals- FS Will Parks- Arizona
Parks is in the same mold as Jalen Mills above, 6'0" 204 lbs, outstanding athlete, with just about elite JMP and TAK.
2.30- Indianapolis Colts- OT Alex Lewis- Nebraska
Lewis could be a stud in the making so maybe this is too far down for him but I am drifting in and out of conciousness so it's too late. This is a solid pickup for the Colts and has future starting potential.
2.31- Dallas Cowboys- WR Tyreek Hill- West Alabama
I think at this point it might be time to take a shot on the freak athlete Hill, he'll probably top off at 99/99/99 but not sure if he'll ever be starting material, definitely a good kick returner possibly but it's worth a flier.
2.32- Miami Dolphins- OT Germain Ifedi- Texas A&M
The Dolphins get solid depth along the OL with ifedi, good size, excellent STR, very good athlete but will have to work on his run and pass blocking which isn't likely an issue.
