[1.1] WR D.J. Chark Jr., LSU | A
========> 22 years old | 6’4” | 198 lbs | 64 AWR | 99 SPD | 98 AGI | 96 ACC | 87 CTH
Like everyone else who did mocks, I nailed this pick. It was pretty clear what Nate had to do if he was to stay at [1.1], and to his credit... he did it. So why the A instead of the A+? I just think the move was to trade down and they couldn't. It's a small docking of points, but I think as a team that HAS to make the playoffs, even a move down a COUPLE spots that brings you back a starter could make all the difference. But it was a tough market, and they made the right pick if you have to stay. Here is what I said pre-draft about the fit,
"He's THE best player in the draft, and he happens to be THE player that should have the most immediate impact.... as we've seen time and time again that rookie WRs with this size and speed profile make an impact. And those HANDS? Insane. Speed kills. It's just in the code. What took the Dallas Offense over the top this year? Adding Baldwin at 6'5" 99/99/99. What propelled the Rams and saved their job? Refusing to trade 6'5" 99/99/99 Mike Evans. Now I don't have the private workout on Chark, because that would be stupid of me, but he looks well within range of 6'4" 99/99/99 very early on in his pro career. Couple that with the absolute gift of the draft gem at WR last year that gave them 6'4" 94/94/99 WR Mack Collins last year in the 5th round... and you've got a real problem to defend. If Nate can make the playoffs and survive the season, he's going to really enjoy the fruits of these last two painful years. Chark gives them the best chance to do that. And I stand by all that. Right guy for the right team. I just hope it's Nate who gets to coach these stud offensive players in 5 years, and not some guy who got fired from their old gig.
[1.2] QB Sam Darnold, USC | A-
========> 20 years old | 6’4” | 225 lbs. | 60 AWR | 99 THP | 85 THA | 99 INJ
I nailed this pick pre-draft, like most in the league did. Here's what I had to say about it then,
"Is Darnold the 2nd best player in this draft? I don't think so. But the appeal of Darnold is that he checks all the boxes WHILE only being 20 years old. In a league where regression comes QUICK, you have to maximize the window your QB is going to give you a chance to win a Super Bowl. AC tried to develop a QB the last two years in Philly, but he was doing it while under duress of the Hot Seat, so he never REALLY got to develop those QBs, as they rotted on the bench at the mercy of needing 6 wins. If he's smart, and I think he is, he'll understand that this is his chance to grab a guy and PLAY him and assure that by the time Year 3 and 4 of this contract come around, he'll have a legit option at QB that not only CAN win enough games, but SHOULD win enough games. Darnold also likely will not need much (if any) AP investment, as he's already got a great arm. You wish his AWR was as high as Mitch last year, but GB has already secured a mentor to assure that Darnold will get +10 AWR tacked on by the start of year 3." For all of those reasons, I love the pick. I think Darnold has the potential to be THE greatest Offensive player from this draft when we look back in 10 years. I think it's absolutely the pick they had to make. However, I did tack on the - to the A because I wonder if, in a class with one clear BEST running back (on my board), and multiple pretty close QBs, if the play might have been to grab Nick Chubb at 2 overall and then to hope Darnold falls to 6? And if he doesn't, move down a little, and get Josh Allen later? I dunno. I think it worked out fine, but it was enough of a question for me to make it an A- and not an A+. Great start for AC in Green Bay.
[1.3] WR Courtland Sutton, SMU | A+
========> 21 years old | 6’4” | 198 lbs | 62 AWR | 95 SPD | 92 AGI | 94 ACC | 84 CTH | 81 JMP | 66 STR
Nailed this pick, too. Three in a row. Ultimately, it was a pretty straight forward Top 16 picks. Here's what I said pre-draft about the fit here for Sutton,
"while Wade is young in his Buffalo rebuild, I think doing the math would show that ANY CB in this class could still be a liability in coverage by the time Year 4 of that GM Contract comes up. Hell, CB Demarcus Milliner, who I acquired from Buffalo and I know for a FACT that Wade would trade me [1.3] for straight up today if I wanted (well, I was offered [1.2] as well)... but even as talented as Milliner is, HE was sometimes still a liability during last year's Super Bowl run. He makes huge splash plays, but sometimes he just gets beat. And as a GM, I just think Wade is more likely to try and trade that pick for a CB much further along in their "just watch them get beat" phase. I think a smarter play for them would be to snatch an impact WR (who can play very well as dummies) to help aid McCarron's growth. Like him or not, AJ is the guy in Buffalo. Get him some weapons. Buffalo doesn't seem to love ANY of his options... they shipped off Devin Lucien to Indy, and WR Kenny Bell (who was arguably their first big addition) has been available on their trade block for a month. Kenny Bell is really good, and certainly worthy of the last 2nd or early 3rd you could spend to get him... but that expiring contract is scary. With no clean way to retain, and him still needing some AP love, it's an investment I think a lot of teams are weary of. For those reasons, he probably offers more value to Buffalo, and I'd keep him. Then I'd draft 6'4" Sutton and dump as much AP as I could into him and play him in WR2 and watch AJ get the bump in his stats. Now I don't have the private workout on Sutton, but he'd need to at least stay where he's at... and maybe even go up a little... to be worthy of this pick. And in case you were paying attention on draft night, the skew went UP. Like very nice, up. Sutton turned into a real great pick, and it worked out for Wade... who was shopping this pick all over to try and land an impact WR or CB, and it turns out one fell right into their laps. Well played. Easy A+ for me.
[1.4] HB Nick Chubb, Georgia | A- **Trade Up with (Future ATL 1st + 1.14 for Future CHI 2nd + 1.4)
========> 22 years old | 5'10” | 240 lbs | 93 SPD | 86 STR | 88 AGI | 91 ACC | 60 CTH | 91 CAR | 94 BTK
WOW! The most bold, unexpected move of the draft, and it's the Bears finding a trading partner to move down to [1.14]. Ballsy move by Atlanta, who could have just drafted James Connor last year and prevented me a decade of headaches playing Washington. Should I blame Garth for costing me the first (and only) PERFECT season? Meh, we had kind of bottled up Connor in that game. But that late 1st down to set up the game winning FG still bothers me. Any who, Chubb is a stud. I think they paid a LOT to make this happen, but hard to argue with the result. Chubb was one of my favorite players in the class, and I was comfortable drafting him as high as #1 overall, if Nate and I could have ever agreed to compensation for the [1.1] pick... which I just didn't have enough ammo for. Really nice player for Garth, and really bold move. Will be interesting to see how it plays out in the NFC South this year.
[1.5] SS J.T. Gray, Mississippi State | B+
========> 22 years old | 6’0” | 202 lbs. | 95 SPD | 97 AGI | 99 ACC | 75 CTH | 79 TAK | 61 STR |
I was really hopeful that Nick Chubb would end up in Cleveland, but the Falcons moved up and prevented that from happening. Ironically, if the Falcons had just took my advice LAST year and drafted HB James Connor, they'd have had a better young HB, and could have snatched one of the amazing SS in this class at their original pick of [1.14] and still had their Future 1st. Hell, if they wanted to move up, they could have got SS JT Gray. But I digress. HB Lindsey was NOT worthy of this pick, so the Browns had to move in another direction. I hinted pre-draft that this might be the case,
"The Browns will also need to draft a Safety at some point in this draft, and probably a WR, too. Look for them to hit these three crucial positions early and often, as they continue to reshape this team into one that could be a real threat with young QB Brad Kaaya in the coming years. Turns out SS was higher on their board than WR. It's impossible to argue with the JT Gray pick, as he's an absolute stud. But I have to wonder if the smarter play might have been to match on SS Downling with the Titans, and then use this pick to trade down to get your future 1st and still land a stud at SS or WR later. Either way, hard to argue with the PLAYER, as he's the best SS in a class full of amazing talent. B+ pick for me, but very close to an A-.
[1.6] DE Bradley Chubb, N.C. State | A+
========> 22 years old | 6’4” | 269 lbs | 50 AWR | 81 SPD | 74 AGI | 92 ACC | 88 STR | 60 TAK
Nailed this pick exactly. In fact, I nailed BOTH Packers picks exactly. Read like a book. But why wouldn't these be the picks? They got arguably the guy with the MOST long term potential on Offense, AND the guy with the most long term potential on Defense. In one draft. That's a big win. I was surprised pre-draft how other Mockers weren't as hyped for Chubb as I was (what a sentence), but I think this guy is going to be a machine. Here were my thoughts about him going to Green Bay pre-draft,
"I agree that CB is a need for GB, but I think it's dangerous to try and develop a QB and a CB at the same time. You only get one mentor. I think with a young QB getting reps, the Packers would be smart to go veteran in the secondary, so I'd wait a year (or two) to draft CBs (if ever). We know from AC's time in Philly that he loves an athletically gifted DUMB defensive end, and he's got a version of that here. Chubb is the best DL in the class. He's got good size, he's super quick, and if you are committed to putting the AP in him, he will be a very good pro player. He could easily be posting double digit sacks from the left side as early as his rookie campaign. Also, you don't need a mentor for your Top 10 pick here, because AWR really doesn't matter at DE. Is it a little early? Maybe, but if they move down they risk losing him." I stand by all of that, and the fact the Jets moved up with a FUTURE 1st to take a (slightly) inferior DE at [1.12] tells you just how important the position is. Great pick here by AC.
[1.7] WR Jaleel Scott, New Mexico State | B-
========> 24 years old | 6’5” | 218 lbs | 92 SPD | 86 AGI | 95 ACC | 75 CTH | 75 STR | 49 AWR
This move had some scratching their heads, but I don't hate it. I actually had him going higher than most... at 13 to the 49ers, but I think a lot of GMs were scared away by his age. Here's what I had to say before the draft,
"Jaleel might seem like a reach here at 13, as the biggest mark against him is that he's already 24 years old in a league where regression starts at 30. But you know what does NOT regress? Size. Can't be trained, and it's there for life. We've seen big targets like Calvin Johnson stay productive WELL into regression. Just pour AP into his SPD/AGI, and progression should max out his ACC. His low AWR means you can probably get him into a few Training Camps for the free CTH points. I don't know if it'll be in the Top 16, but this guy is going to go early and make someone very happy unless that private workout is absolute dog water. It appears his workout was NOT dog water, which bodes well for a Chiefs GM in Rodany who has done an AMAZING job drafting in KC. I'm a little surprised they didn't go defense... but maybe they would have if Gray slid, but Apolo f***ed that up in PDME Free Agency by stealing the Browns SS. All things considered, I think Scott will be very good and have a great career. And sure being 24 sucks, but 6'4" guys can play longer into regression anyway, as they hold their usefulness. It's just the data at this point, go check if you don't believe me.
[1.8] SS Jessie Bates, Wake Forest | A
========> 22 years old | 6’0” | 200 lbs | 93 SPD | 69 STR | 64 AWR | 95 AGI | 95 ACC | 71 CTH | 92 JMP | 76 TAK | 57 AWR
I love the pick. I had Denver pegged (don't get any ideas, Tim) for SS before the draft... but I had no idea teams would love J.T. Gray as much as they do. Here is what I said about them taking a SS before the draft,
"Denver really could use a LB, but this might be too early for that. Their CBs look pretty good... and they traded a stud for a pile of picks, so taking a CB here might not make sense. WRs are solid. Could use a HB, but there isn't another one worthy of the top 10. Chandler is too soon to mentor. OL looks solid and young. DL is fine. Ultimately, if I were Denver I'd trade this for an impact player. But if they stay put, JT Gray offers them the most upside and impact on day 1. He's a prototype in ever sense of the word. Ideally would be a little bigger, but if those attributes hold? Absolute stud. Mentor already on the roster. A lot of that applies for Bates, too, who I had going at [1.16] to the Chargers. I actually was pretty scared that Bates would fall to Washington at [1.17], and even though I do NOT need a SS at all, if Bates was on the board on [1.16], I was going to for sure make some calls to GMs I trust about the pro's and con's of drafting Bates so he doesn't become a Redskins, and potentially moving on from a young SS that I've invested a LOT in. I'm glad I didn't have to have that conversation, and that Timmy boy saved me. Thanks Tim!
[1.9] QB Josh Rosen, UCLA | C-
========> 21 years old | 6'4" | 99 THP | 77 AWR | 60 AWR
SURPRISE! It's a QB! And not just ANY QB, but Josh Rosen! This was the only player drafted in the Top 16 that I didn't have in the 1st round of my mock, so it created a little extra work for me writing this article. But I'll stand by what I said on draft night... I trust Rock. I trust the process. I don't think Rosen is worthy of the 9th pick, which is about as premium of a pick as they come in these leagues. Frankly, if Rosen was the guy, they should have traded down into the 20's... or even the early 2nd... and could have safely got their guy. And probably got some REALLY nice pieces for the exchange. They probably could have paid Breck a small fee and he'd have negotiated the deal for Seattle. But ultimately, I think Rock will do what he's got to do to make Rosen successful. I truly believe that. But I can't in good conscience go any higher than a C- with the pick itself when it's a QB at #9, and there is no mentor on the roster, and it's not even the next best QB in the class. I mean, Rock is an absolute wizard... but this is asking a lot from the magician.
[1.10] CB Charvarious Ward, Middle Tennessee State | A
========> 22 years old | 6’1” | 196 lbs. | 97 SPD | 67 STR | 57 AWR | 92 AGI | 95 ACC | 69 CTH | 76 TAK
I nailed this pick EXACTLY. When I made it though, I couldn't have known that Carlton Davis would still be on the board, who I liked SLIGHTLY better. But Ward is an absolute stud with exactly what you're looking for at the position. When fully developed, he's going to be very nice. Before the draft, I had this to say about the projected pick...
"OLB and TE are two solid projections here, but ultimately there is too much to like about snatching the 2nd best CB in the class (probably 1 on some team's boards) with the 10th pick. CB Pierre Desir has never felt like the right fit in New England, and he could be shipped off on draft day if the Patriots get an offer they like. Jimmy Smith is the mentor I bet the team was planning to use for newly acquired CB Teez Tabor, but they could easily give it to Ward instead, and let Teez get his AWR from play time at 66 AWR and 86 OVR. Teez could probably lock down CB1, you put a vet in CB2, and then let Ward play the nickel with a mentor for the rookie year. That's just how I'd play it, and then I'd see if I can't get a couple draft picks for Desir to draft an OLB and TE later in the 1st and 2nd. And that's still how I'd play it. I think that Pierre Desir is likely to get traded... just not for as much as they had hoped a few weeks ago. Someone who missed out on a CB in round 1 will call them up and offer a future 1st, or a player that can help them, and they'll take on the challenge of overcoming that AWR learning curve. Or perhaps they keep him? They should be able to compete for the division, and an extra body at CB (especially one you JUST resigned to a new contract and would take a big cap hit to move) are not bad to keep around. But I definitely think Ward snipes the mentor away from Teez. All of these guys should get playing time. It's a solid pick for the Patriots, but I will keep it at an A instead of an A+ because I had Ward 3rd on my CB board (after I saw the JC Jackson skew).
[1.11] CB Carlton Davis, Auburn | A+ **Trade Up with (1.15 + 2.11 for 1.11 + 5.16 + 5.31)
========> 21 years old | 6’1” | 203 lbs. | 99 SPD | 57 STR | 53 AWR | 99 AGI | 96 ACC | 66 CTH | 67 TAK | 92 JMP | 92 INJ
It's a lot to give up to move 5 spots. I'll just lead with that. But the Steelers had so much ammo they were able to move up and down the draft at will, and ultimately chase the players you like. And any time you are seeing the BEST CB in the class fall into the teens, that's a good time to move up. Now there was some debate as to if the
Grave Digger Carlton Davis is #1 at the position, but I personally had him ranked very high. I think the consensus was he was Top 3 for sure, unless you are just unquestionably obsessed with AWR. I'll say this - I think when all these 1st round CBs are fully developed, I think Carlton will be the best of the bunch. But he's going to have a learning curve, which is tough when on the Hot Seat. Thankfully the secondary looks solid in Pittsburgh, and I think Carlton will fit in nicely. I don't love trading the premium 2nd to move up, but if Carlton was their guy... he was NOT making it to them at [1.15]! He just wasn't. So I am not penalizing the grade because they went up and got their guy, and were able to recoup the compensation later.
[1.12] DE Sam Hubbard, Ohio State | A- **Trade Up with (1.28 + Future NYJ 1st + RG Morris for 1.12 + Future DET 3rd)
========> 22 years old | 6'5" | 270 lbs | 81 SPD | 88 STR | 86 AGI | 80 ACC | 60 TAK
I absolutely love the player, and did through the entire pre-draft process. I had him going at 9 in my mock to Seattle, but many other GMs had him going lower (or were just trying to hide him). Hubbard had a great skew, and by all accounts will be an absolute stud for Kevin and his Jets. The primary issue I have with this and what stops it from being an A+ for ME, is I hate the compensation to get up. I know Kev and I had a little back-and-forth on discord about trading the late 1st for a Future 1st, and Commish Will Cook is very against it, but if you ask me... these trades where you give up a future 1st to move UP from a late 1st have the potential to be FAR more damaging. And I'm saying that as someone who has traded my NEXT year's 1st FIVE out of FIVE times in this league. Sure, had I sucked and that pick ended up in the Top 10... I'd have felt sorry for myself, but it's happened zero times. I even did a few times with a rookie and sophomore QB. But both times I was able to trade my FUTURE 1st, for a late 1st... and a few times I was able to leverage the uncertainty of my pick to get an ADDITIONAL pick... sometimes a 2nd or 3rd. I've BUILT my team on drafting in the 2nd and 3rd. And if you can hit on 2nd round picks, you CAN hit on late 1st round picks. So to give up not ONLY your future 1st, but ALSO the last 1st... just to move up and grab a DE is risky. You have to REALLY like the player you're getting. And in this case, I do really like the player they got. But it's for sure a risky move, at least ON PAR with the trading of the Future 1st... but it's far less talked about. People talked about Hubbard potentially moving to DT... but I think it's far more straight forward. My first draft here, Kev sniped DT Sylvester Williams from me. He moved him to LE, and it's crazy to think that guy is already 28 years old and close to regression. I think the smart play is to either kick him over to RE to finish his career and let Hubbard start at LE, or to just play one of them out of position with the understanding that Hubbard will eventually be the new LE in the Big Apple.
[1.13] QB Josh Allen, Wyoming | B+
========> 21 years old | 6’5” | 240 lbs | 61 AWR | 99 THP | 80 THA | 92 INJ | 75 BTK | 60 STR
The risk of the scrambler is there, which would be a bummer to lose 100k AP, but with Josh Allen falling, and without the 49ers seemingly having any backup plan while on the clock... I liked the pick. I am very intrigued by the BTK of Allen, and I think when he's fully progressed he's going to be VERY hard to sack. That doesn't mean he's without risk or that he'll be easy to develop... but I have confidence Gary will succeed with him, and I think he's smart to grab the QB and develop him now in Year 1. Sounds like Orton will be THE guy this year, but hopefully Gary can pick some spots to start Josh and get him at least 500 yards per progression period so it's not JUST the +5 AWR from the mentor. Rookie progression boost is REAL with playing time. Can't recommend it enough. This was very close to an A- rating for me, and it's a real coup to get him AFTER Josh Rosen was taken... but I ultimately did bump it down to a B+ because it sounds like he's going to have very little impact in helping the 49ers recover the division THIS year. And there were some guys there that could have done that.
[1.14] TE Mark Andrews, Oklahoma | B+ **Trade Down with (Future CHI 2nd + 1.4 for Future ATL 1st + 1.14)
========> 21 years old | 6’5” | 254 lbs. | 92 SPD | 58 AWR | 81 AGI | 88 ACC | 86 CTH | 78 STR | 47 PBK | 39 RBK
Great size, great hands, amazing speed and acceleration. Personally, I think 14 is a little high for ANY tight end, but last year the Buccaneers took Kittle at 10 and he had 15 damn touchdowns. Those words echo true. Great player, I like him better at [1.14] than where I mocked him at [1.11]. And to get a Future 1st for him is legit. I outlined in my mock that Chicago was facing a lose-lose situation because the players who align BEST for them were likely going 1-2-3 in the draft, leaving them with the choice of reaching on a player of need, or drafting a stud at a position that isn't the problem. Ultimately, they found a 3rd door that I thought might be a little difficult for Brent... find a trade partner and move DOWN. Very impressed with the haul. And Andrews will be really good for a long time... even if he's no Blake Bell. Ultimately I want to give this an A, but I have to knock it a letter grade just because ANY TE in the top 16 is too high for my taste. But still, the Bears will be very happy with this move.
[1.15] RT Brian O'Neill, Pittsburgh | A+ **Trade Down with (1.11 + 5.16 + 5.31 for 1.15 + 2.11)
========> 21 years old | 6'7” | 297 lbs | 70 AWR | 97 STR | 63 SPD | 77 AGI | 77 ACC | 93 PBK | 82 RBK
Absolute mountain of a man. I wish his speed was a little more special, but there is nothing else not to like about him. His ACC is right on the border of what I look for in my OTs. Multiple things can be true. Brian O'Neill could end up having a very long and successful career... AND this could be a little too high for him. Ultimately there is a reason so few OL got drafted, and get drafted in the 1st round. O'Neill WAS my favorite OL in the class, but [1.15] feels a little too early for my money. I mean, the OL I took in the middle 3rd round LAST year I like better than the OL who went at the end of the 1st this year. It's just one of those positions where you can get a guy later, and he'll have a great career. Really, ONLY your RT has to be great in Madden, and I think I heard Breck say this guy would play OG. Which hopefully is just a predecessor to move him back outside after a few years of development. Ultimately though, the value to trade down from [1.11], where it's my understanding they might have taken this same player anyways, and to still get your guy while adding a premium 2nd round pick makes this an A+ pick for me. A little high, but you moved down and got ammo and still got a guy you like a lot who was clearly the best at his position in the entire draft class. That's how championship teams are built.
[1.16] CB J.C. Jackson, Maryland | A+ **Trade Up with (1.31 + 2.17 for 1.16)
========> 22 years old | 5'10” | 201 lbs | 65 AWR | 76 STR | 96 SPD | 93 AGI | 98 ACC | 86 TAK | 68 CTH
I actually mocked J.C. Jackson to myself at 1.31 in my only mock draft, but after I did that I started to see Jackson posted higher and higher in the mocks that came after. Curiosity at an all time high, I ran the private workout and decided there was no way he was lasting to [1.31]. As I said before the draft,
"CB is not really on my radar, but Jackson has fallen. And I get it, he's a midget. But he looks a LOT like a safety. He is a tackling machine, very strong, and if the private workout is nice, he has excellent quickness. Would be a total luxury pick for me, since I've got Milliner and Tye Smith locked in as my CB1 and CB2, and another year of Barnes playing at a VERY high level. Not to mention Craig Mager, Special Teams Ace, who has been playing dime CB for me, AND William Jackson III that I like a lot. So an embarrassment of riches for me at the position. But I'll probably stay put, and if Jackson drops because he's tiny, I'll probably take him, and I'll probably have Barnes mentor him because nobody would even give me a 2nd round pick for a starting caliber MENTOR CB, and then in two years Jackson is going to be the best Nickel CB in the league that has 80+ AWR at age 24, and I'm going to lock him down for a 7 year restructure that carries him until regression in his early 30s, and he'll almost never have to cover a guy who is taller than 6'1" because he stays in the slot, and everyone in the league will be mad at me because I got a great player... but really all folks had to do to avoid it was to trade me a 2nd for Barnes and send me a future 1st for this pick to take Jackson so I can trade for Pierre Desir. Honestly, I'm fine with either scenario. Love you guys!" And I mean most of that came true. I just had to move up to get him, but the price wasn't that crazy. I lost on the trade value chart, but not by much, it just looks like a steal of a trade because Breck got [2.11] to move down from [1.11] to [1.15] and [2.17] got from [1.31] to [1.6]. Still, I didn't like my man Norb openly lobbying on the radio show for Will (a stand up guy) to "squeeze" me for more juice ([2.12]) for the move up. But I guess I'd probably be mad if I wasn't me and I saw the league let the conquering, reigning, defending, undisputed champion of the World get the best CB in the draft class with the 16th draft pick. If the pick wasn't good enough as is, Jackson skewed UP in every category but SPD (which stayed at 94). He gained AGI, ACC, TAK, CTH, and AWR. He's going to be mentored for two years, and will also get +SPD AP boosts, and probably AGI, too. Is it a perfect pick? No, and perhaps if a team other than Dallas takes him it doesn't look as good on paper. He
is 5'10", after all. But it's not like I'm EVER going to line him up across from 6'4" D.J. Chark Jr. In fact, for as talented as the young WRs are in the NFC East (Juju, Woods, Godwin, Diggs, etc), there are virtually NONE over 6'2". Expect Jackson to start 16 games this year in the slot for that rookie progression, and then perhaps get reps at CB1 as soon as Year 3. Not gonna lie, I was pretty bummed out the Pierre Desir trade fell through... and with the Patriots drafting a talented CB at [1.10]... they probably are, too. But in hindsight, I was able to get a talented CB that can be mentored and ALREADY has higher AWR, and the cost was only [2.17], rather than CB Craig Mager and another pick. I think that's what they call, "everything working out ok." We now pivot to the 2nd round, where we have two solid 2nd round picks ([2.7] and [2.12]). I get a rep of trading a lot, but MOST of my team is built on 2nd round picks I made. [2.3] QB Mike Glennon, [2.3] HB David Johnson, [2.13] WR Martavis Bryand, [2.16] WR Cooper Kupp, [2.16] Laken Tomlinson, [2.30] LG Michael Schofield, [2.10] Sam Montgomery, [2.12] Brandon Williams, and [2.9] ROLB Leonard Floyd. No pressure.
IN CONCLUSION... What a fun night! Loved the radio show, thanks everyone who made that happen. Winning Super Bowls is cool, but nothing beats the draft. I was able to get the Top 16 done today, and I'll try to get the rest of the 1st done on Monday before double AP ends. Hope you guys enjoy!
