PICK | TEAM | PLAYER | ANALYSIS |
1.01 | | QB Gardner Minshew | The Panthers made this pick obvious from the get go. Minshew is one of the most SFL-ready prospects we've seen in a while and should bring about a long awaited change in Charlotte. |
1.02 | | WR D.K. Metcalf | GM Bryan Mellon doesn't typically pick this high, but it makes a bit more sense considering it's been a good decade since he's even sniffed a Super Bowl. Metcalf is locked in at 2. |
1.03 | | TE T.J. Hockenson | It's only a question of how high Hockenson goes in this draft, but I think Baltimore is a great fit for him. It's high for a tight end, but he's fast, strong and has good run blocking. Another target for Garoppolo. |
1.04 | | WR Terry McLaurin | The Broncos just lost Darren Waller, so it makes sense that they would use the draft to upgrade the position again, especially if they're going to try to make the Lamar Jackson experiment work. |
1.05 | | WR Parris Campbell | We've got a lot of GMs at the top of this draft who like tall, athletic wide receivers with speed. Parris Campbell fits that mold and with an aging receiving corps I bet that GM Breckheimer will pull the trigger. |
1.06 | | CB Rock Ya-Sin | One of his first picks in Carolina was to select Richard Sherman, who was a staple for the Panthers. New Raiders GM Phil Mellon makes a similar move and takes Ya-Sin, making him the first defensive player selected in the draft. |
1.07 | | RT Cody Ford | This pick is on the block, so I doubt that Dallas ends up taking a player here. That being said, they've been making some changes to their offensive line and Cody Ford may be too appealing a prospect to not take this early. |
1.08 | | ROLB Josh Allen | Some of GM Nathan Jones' most successful picks over the seasons have been outside linebackers in the first round. Josh Allen looks primed to be the next in a great line and be a stud for the Saints. |
1.09 | | CB Justin Layne | I was really tempted o have the Chiefs take a new middle linebacker with this selection, but with only one of the top cornerbacks off the board, it likely makes sense to have them take Layne. |
1.10 | | SS Marquise Blair | Cincinnati has a big hole at strong safety, so Marquise Blair seems like a natural fit. It's likely he's a Bengal for quite some time and that he contends for Defensive ROTY. |
1.11 | | WR Deebo Samuel | We all know that GM Daren Roberts likes his wide receivers to be tall and fast, but the quality that Deebo Samuel brings to the Dolphins roster may be hard to turn away. Deebo heads to Miami. |
1.12 | | ROLB Rashan Gary | The Broncos already replaced Darren Waller, now it's time for them to begin to shore up their defensive side of the ball. Rashan Gary looks ready to be an absolute stud who gets to the quarterback fast. |
1.13 | | DT Quinnen Williams | My intuition tells me that Mellon Jr. may want to take Williams at his first selection, but he's smart enough to know he should take the top cornerback and then double down on the big man after the fact. |
1.14 | | CB Sean Murphy-Bunting | You can never have too much depth at cornerback, and with the quarterbacks in the AFC North improving dramatically, I imagine that GM Ian Coyle will want to add a stud for the future. |
1.15 | | RG Nate Davis | Phil has contained himself long enough and drafts one of the best offensive guard prospects we've seen in quite some time. Nate Davis becomes an instant stud you could instantly start for the Raiders. |
1.16 | | DT Christian Wilkins | The Patriots may be looking for a huge stopgap in the middle of the defense with Todd Gurley ready to wreak havoc in the division. Wilkins seems like the nright play at this point. |
1.17 | | WR Jalen Hurd | It's a new regime in San Diego. I've shed tears as my previous players have been sent off to greener pastures. San Diego appears to be in "win now" mode and a big stud like Hurd seems to be what Cohen wants to bring in. |
1.18 | | SS Sheldrick Redwine | The Giants are going to be looking for players to add that can instantly make an impact with their GM still on the hot seat. Redwine seems like the type of player that can do that. |
1.19 | | MLB Devin White | For the sake of not trying too hard (we all know Brent hates when we put in effort), I'm selecting Devin White for him. Next. |
1.20 | | QB Jake Browning | We're closing to a changing of the guard in Oakland. With Henne on his way out, the Fountain of Youth may have sacrificed the future of one Christian Hackenberg. I think they draft their future in Jake Browning. |
1.21 | | OT Yodny Cajuste | The Falcons have finally stabalized after nearly costing GM Garth Pearce his job. I think they look to add via the trenches with offensive tackle Cajuste seeming like the best available. |
1.22 | | CB Isaiah Johnson | This is where you start taking flyers on players. I think the Ravens may overlook a bad agility rating for Johnson to utilize his 6'4" frame at cornerback. |
1.23 | | LOLB Quincy Williams | The Eagles are one of the oldest teams in the league, meaning GM Peter Fenger has his work cut out for him. Adding the best available player is likely smart and Williams may just be that guy. |
1.24 | | LE Maxx Crosby | Never fear, I only took a few moments to select Crosby for the Bears. |
1.25 | | LT Greg Little | You all know where I like to start building my teams and that's in the trenches. Greg Little seems like just the player who could be a lifer to bring a trophy to Jacksonville. |
1.26 | | FS Will Harris | As we discussed above, the Eagles need to add consistent and good talent to their roster. A 6'2" free safety with blazing speed seems like a good move and he's a steal at this juncture. |
1.27 | | WR J.J. Arcega-Whiteside | Minshew was the correct pick first overall. Getting him a quality receiver to throw to for his career has to be next on GM Brad Barber's list. JJ Arcega seems great value for this slot. |
1.28 | | RE Brian Burns | I almost took a defensive end for the Browns at 1.14, but Burns seems like he would be better value at the end of the first round. He'll be able to get after the quarterback effectively. |
1.29 | | WR Miles Boykin | No matter who has been the GM in Arizona, they've always liked tall and fast receivers. Boykin may be the last of them available in this draft so you bet they're going to make a move for him. |
1.30 | | QB Clayton Thorson | The Texans made a big run last year, but with Matt Ryan getting older they have to begin to look to the future. Thorson may be the quarterback to mentor with Ryan still on the roster. |
1.31 | | LE Oshane Ximines | The Steelers are a complete rebuild, so you have to start by getting some cornerstones. Oshane Ximines is a drop off in talent compared to some others, but he's strong and can get to the ball carrier. |
1.32 | | CB Lonnie Johnson Jr. | GM Neal Wintermute, GM of the SFL All Stars, loves to have tall athletic cornerbacks. I think he'd run to the podium if Lonnie Johnson Jr. is still available on draft day. |
