2019 SFL MOCK DRAFT V2.0
1.1- Carolina Panthers- QB Gardner Minshew- Washington State
We maneuvered several times in order to get up to this selection and it was for our franchise QB Gardner Minshew. Minshew comes with outstanding football IQ which will help him early in his young career. He has a bazooka for an arm able to hit any typeof WR/TE with ease and decent accuracy. His injury gives me shades of Brian Brohm PTSD but I can't account for that, he'll start immediately from day 1 under the tutelage of newly acquired Kyle Orton.
1.2- Tampa Bay Buccaneers- WR D.K. Metcalf- Ole Miss
D.K. is an absolute stud and it sucks that he's going to be landing in the division. His size alone at 6'4" is enough to torture defenders but then add in the factor of 99SPD/99AGI/99ACC to go along with 78 CTH and 89 JMP is downright terrifying. I'm not sure Tray Walker is up to the task of covering this guy just yet. The Bucs will have 1 of the best WR cores in the SFl with Metcalf, Cody Core and A.J. Green.
1.3- Baltimore Ravens- CB Rock Ya-Sin- Temple
Rock Ya-Sin is a stud with the potential to be a 99SPD/99AGI/99ACC 6'2" 190 lbs beast that will come in and most likely start immediately for the team that always seems to be in contention for a SB every year. He has good enough starting AWR, Elite JMP, solid tackler but will need to work on his ball hawking skills at the next level.
1.4- Denver Broncos- WR Jalen Hurd- Baylor
This would be pretty wild if Hurd turns out well in his PW and Tim Miller will look incredibly smart letting Waller go and picking up his replacement while gaining a future 1st. Hurd is only 1" smaller than Waller at 6'5" 230 lbs plus he has the best hands in this entire WR draft class. He would bring the size that the Broncos are missing at the position if they decide not to re-sign Waller.
1.5- Indianapolis Colts- CB Isaiah Johnson- Houston
Isiah Johnson gives the Colts a big bodied CB, this would all of course depend on a favorable skew. His 6'4' 202 lbs. frame would make him the tallest in the SFL at his position, excellent STR, borderline elite JMP and elite TAK make him a potential stud but he'll have to work on those pedestrian hands at the next level.
1.6- Oakland Raiders- CB Justin Layne- Michigan State
Layne is a solid prospect with excellent size for the position at 6'2" 192 lbs, he has the potential of 97 SPD/ 96 AGI/ 99 ACC which at his size is outstanding, solid CTH, borderline elite JMP and elite TAK. Both Gilmore and Chekwa are up there in age so he could sit a year or 2 as the NCB and thrive until he's ready to take over.
1.7- Dallas Cowboys- WR A.J. Brown- Ole Miss
It's hard to guage what the Cowboys will do here if the pick isn't traded but I think BPA is A.J. Brown. He isn't a giant like Hurd but he's an athletic freak with the capability of eclipsing the 99 SPD/ 99 ACC thresholds. Not only is he athletic but also has excellent hands (2nd best in this class), He'll work on his football IQ as a slot WR but don't ask him to go up and get those contested catches.
1.8- New Orleans Saints- RB Tony Pollard- Memphis
I thought who would the Saints be moving up in the draft for, they've always had solid RB play from their days of Deuce McCallister and RB Tony Pollard is sitting there. He has the starting caliber size at 6'0" 209 lbs, his elite STR will allow him to shed tackles with ease, decent hands catching out of the backfield and also adequate CAR/BTK. I'm really not looking forward to Deuce 2.0 in our division.
1.9- Kansas City Chiefs- WR Terry McLaurin- Ohio State
"Scary" Terry McLaurin isn't going to wow you with his size but he'll definitely wow you when he's blowing by you for a long TD. 99/99/99 potential, solid hands, decent starting caliber football AWR who could be the #2 WR opposite of Justin Hunter. Much like A.J. Brown who went a few picks above, don't ask him to go up and snatch the ball away because thats not their games.
1.10- Cincinnati Bengals- SS Marquise Blair- Utah
This is a good draft to need a strong safety as i see a couple of solid options but Blair at 6'2" 195 lbs. seems to be the guy who sticks out the most for me. His record 97 SPD would be the best this league has ever seen and even if that skews down 3, it can still het to 97 with progression and AP. But he's not all just SPD, he comes with decent football IQ, decent hands, excellent at contested catches and almost elite tackling right out of the gate.
1.11- Miami Dolphins- SS Sheldrick Redwine- Miami
I told you this was a solid draft for SS and Redwine is another stud who will if not starting out comes with world class speed which cannot be taught. He'd be a perfect fit for the Phins who have Harrison but on the verge of regression can sit a year behind 1 of the best and learn until he's ready to take over. I didn't feel he was as polished as far as CTH/JMP or TAK so I put him a notch below Blair but it's whatever GM's prefer.
1.12- Denver Broncos- CB Sean Murphy-Bunting- Central Michigan
I really like Sean Murphy-Bunting as a prospect, he seems to be solid in most attributes, he's plenty athletic as long as that SPD skews upwards, solid starting AWR, elite JMP and very good TAK but he'll have to work on his ball hawking in camp. He's got the size at 6'0" 195 lbs. that most GM's covet. He can split year 1 as the NCB with Derek Cox until he's ready to take over those duties next season.
1.13- Oakland Raiders- WR Deebo Samuel- South Carolina
The Raiders new GM solidified the secondary with CB Justin Layne and now comes back and grabs a solid WR addition to the core in Deebo Samuel who's a bigger version of Tyreek Hill who's been more of a return specialist the past years. Samuel has explosive speed, excellent burst, excellent starting football AWR and great hands, I see him filling for the sklot WR role.
1.14- Cleveland Browns- LE Brian Burns - Florida State
Burns is a very strange prospect, I love his height at 6'5" but is only 235 lbs. although in the same mold as Demarcus lawrence whos had a pretty solid career at his size. great SPD and busrt off the line, he has the STR to disrupt the backfield whether it be getting after the QB or tackling the RB behind the line of scrimmage I think he'll have a solid career for the Browns.
1.15- Oakland Raiders- DE Maxx Crosby- Eastern Michigan
Maxx Crosby comes home! The sack master himself at 6'5" 247 lbs. can start opposite of the big man Derek Wolfe. Crosby is a solid edge rusher with athletic ability to get around defenders and the sheer STR to bull them over as well. He'll have to get the AWR and TAK up but I see him creating havoc for the Raiders and opposing teams.
1.16- New England Patriots- DT Christian Wilkins- Clemson
Wilkins has excellent size to fit any scheme at 6'3" 312 lbs., his quick feet, closing speed and amazing STR pushing the oppenent back into the QB have to be enticing for GM's, other than the typical AWR and TAK he doesn't really have toi do much work and will fit right into that DL in New England..
1.17- San Diego Chargers- CB Trayvon Mullen- Clemson
The SB runner ups go for the big corner at 6'1" 186 lbs., he's not just a big dude but has 99SPP/97ACC potential. His 49 AWR is not ideal but all he has to do is play some at NCB for a year or 2, his 81 CTH is elite, he is an absolute ball hawk oh and elite JMP to boot, he will be knocking away or intercepting all those contested catches.
1.18- New York Giants- OL Greg Little- Ole Miss
I see him starting as the starting RG immediately for the G-Men, when he gets a little more polished he can move into the OT role but the need now appears to be on the interior OL. Little is my favorite OL in this class, 6'6" 325 lbs. , solid athlete with super quick feet and burst of the line, his STR is another plus and excellent starting run and pass blocking.
1.19- Chicago Bears- ILB Devin White- LSU
White is a bit of an older prospect and I usually like STR at the position but that's just nit picking, he'll be an absolute stud in any scheme, his athleticism is off the charts and then factor in his top notch AWR to go with elite TAK and you have an immediate starter, hopefully he tries harder than his GM.... I KID... I KID!!!
1.20- Oakland Raiders- RG Nate Davis- Charlotte
New GM of the Oakland Raiders has had a stellar draft and now closes with a big ugly along the OL in RG Nate Davis. 6'3" 316 lbs., excellent STR at 91 able to push the pile nicely, quick feet and burst and solid run and pass blocking to go along with his adequate AWR.
1.21- Atlanta Falcons- RT Andre Dillard- Washington State
Gardner Minshews top blocker in college is now on the rival dirty birds. He stand at 6'5" 310 lbs, he has plenty of power but uses his incredible athleticism to maneuver players out of the grasps of the QB, top notch football AWR and adequate run/pass blocking that will go up in time.
1.22- Baltimore Ravens- TE T.J. Hockenson- Iowa
I tried to find a home earlier for Hockenson but seems to be a great fit here with the Ravens who are looking to trade Jimmy Graham. He has excellent athletic ability, great hands, good starting AWR and a decent run and pass blocker. He could come in and start immediately if Graham gets traded or cut with those attributes.
1.23- Philadelphia Eagles- DT Quinnen Williams- Alabama
The Eagles select for the first time so they make it count here with stud DT Quinnen Williams. The fastest DT in this class by a country mile, mix that SPD with his STR and you got a got who is going to cause all sorts of problems for offenses. He doesn't have ideal size but his STR makes him playable in any scheme fit but work on that TAK at the next level and he'll be unstoppable.
1.24- Chicago Bears- DE Oshane Ximines- Old Dominion
This old school prospect is a pass rush specialist, I normally dfont like smallish DE's for a 3-4 (I think that's what the bears play) but his STR makes him scheme fit friendly. Only 6'3" 253 lbs. but man does he have a nice blend of speed and strength which means he will not only crush QB's but RB's also.
1.25- Jacksonville Jaguars- OG Michael Deiter- Wisconsin
Death, taxes and Will taking an OL in no particular order. Deiter could plug and play in any G spot where he'll thrive. He's 6'4" 328 lbs., 1 of if not the most athletic G in this class with top notch STR. He'll need to work on his run/pass blocking at the SFL level but that will improve with experience.
1.26- Philadelphia Eagles- OLB Josh Allen- Kentucky
Josh Allen 2.0 I call him was a little too risky for me to pick him higher but I think with a favorable skew to his SPD and he can be an absolute stud for the Eagles. He's got top notch STR, excellent AWR, elite closing speed and he can be effective in the passing game as well covering TE's and RB's but will have to work on that abysmal TAK.
1.27- Carolina Panthers- WR J.J. Arcega Whiteside- Stanford
6'3" 225 lbs. with athletic ability and 73 starting football AWR. I don't think I've ever picked a rookie WR that smart ever. He'd have to work on his CTH, he also comes with elite JMP and he's a top notch KR, I seriously am not sure he'll make it to me but I'd be thrilled.
1.28- Cleveland Browns- FS Will Harris- Boston College
Harris has excellent size for the position at 6'2" 210 lbs., an athletic freak , borderline elite JMP and elite tackler. He could be a plug and play but they'll probably get 1 more year out of Earl Thomas before he can come in and start.
1.29- Arizona Cardinals- MLB Ben Banogu- TCU
He should be able to play in any scheme fit with his 6'3" 252 lbs frame which is a plus. His football AWR is top notch so his learning curve will be much easier. He's athletic and an above average tackler who could sit a year before taking over the reigns Jamie Collins in a year or 2.
1.30- Houston Texans- RT Tytus Howard- Alabama State
The Texans land a solid OL prospect in Howard, he's very athletic for a guy 6'6" 308 lbs., has brute strength and already comes with above average run and pass blocking. He can learn form one of the best in Jah Reid for a season or 2 before taking over.
1.31- Pittsburgh Steelers- RE Nick Bosa- Ohio State
It was a disappointment when Bosa went down so far after being sought after as a top 4 pick but I don't think he's trash. He still has 82 SPD, 78 AGI, 80 ACC which means he has pass rush ability. He'll need to work on his AWR and TAK at the SFL level but I think he has potential.
1.32- Minnesota Vikings- WR Paris Campbell- Ohio State
What do you give the SB champs here? I see an aging Streeter and soon to be aging Shaq Evans so why not replenish. Campbell offers all world speed and ahas 99 SPD/97 ACC potential. Solid hands, above average at contested catches and has some return ability on special teams. His AWR is pedestrian but should go up fairly easy for the Champs.
