Wild Card Weekend

Analysis: These are some tough, evenly matched games! I originally had all four home teams winning, but that has only happened twice in the history of the SFL (2005, 2011). Thus, odds are it isn't going to happen this season either, so I took a deeper dive to see which road team is most likely to advance. I'm tempted to say the Cowboys and Lynch will surprise, but the Redskins have the third-ranked rushing defense which is going to force Lynch to win it. The Dallas defense will keep it close, but I don't see Lynch making the clutch play when it's needed to finish the deal. The Bengals could surprise the Chargers, who are dealing with the sudden loss of FS Nate Alllen. But the playoffs is where 49awr Safeties get exposed and Waller has really cooled off down the stretch after a great start. I expect a similar result to week twelve when these teams met. Give me the Chargers in a high-scoring affair. I've gone back and forth on the Vikings/Redskins game. As mentioned in the recent radio show, Tyler Wilson has struggled this season and turned the ball over A LOT! Yet in spite of that, the Vikings are still +9 in Turnover differential - which says something about the champ's defense! The Redskins do have a shot as I just down think a quarterback that has struggled all year can suddenly flip the switch in the playoffs. But in the end, I suspect the Vikings go with their most reliable offensive gameplan (Steelers) for the playoffs and they are 7-1 this season when doing so. The Vikings will do just enough to advance to the divisional round. That leaves my Jets as the likely candidate to disappoint their home fans this week, and I think that is exactly what is going to happen. I don't see Brohm having two bad games in a row (even though he did to begin the season). And even though we changed out a few players and gameplan for a mostly meaningless game in week 17, Madden still made sure I knew who was in charge at game's end. CB Aikens still being hurt will help lessen the impact of an injured Greg Little, but I still feel like the Jets will find a way to lose. We haven't won a playoff game since 2008. Give me 27-26 Browns in another heartbreaker. I just hope we don't embarrass ourselves and lay another egg. Keep your heads up, boys! At least we're off the Hot Seat!
