In case anyone needs a refresher, in the offseason we?ll be able to resign 1 player with an expiring contact to a default contract (default according to the age of the player) and have a chance at declaring another player with an expiring contract as match eligible meaning a team would receive draft pick compensation in the following year?s draft if another team wins that player. Another team wins that player by outbidding all other teams and having the previous team decide not to match the highest. If that doesn?t make sense please check out rule 4.07 at this link: http://smashmouth-football.net/lg_rulebook.php?t=1506&skin=lp
In addition to the resign and match eligible options a team has 1 restructure per season. Each GM can earn up to 2 more restructures per season via Activity Points.
Now that I have all that out of the way, here we go:
*Note: I had planned on doing both offensive and defensive players tonight but this took longer than I expected. I?ll do defensive players later
Marc Bulger- St Louis Rams http://smashmouth-football.net/player.php?year=2002&id=1214&skin=lp 2003 Projection: I believe if Bulger was going to be traded it would have happened just before the season started. I think Bulger resigns with the Rams and will give them a great backup in case Kurt Warner gets injured.
Randy Moss- Minnesota Vikings http://smashmouth-football.net/player.php?year=2002&id=1664&skin=lp 2003 Projection: He will be resigned or restructured by the Vikings. This is close to a no-brainer. The only other option I could see if the Vikings offering to trade Moss for a truckload of 1st round picks.
Ike Hilliard- New York Giants http://smashmouth-football.net/player.php?year=2002&id=809&skin=lp 2003 Projection: I believe he will be re-signed by the Giants unless another teams offers Hilliard a deal and GM Mendes decided to accept a deal worth a 2nd or maybe even a 1st round pick.
Mike Rosenthal- New York Giants http://smashmouth-football.net/player.php?year=2002&id=824&skin=lp 2003 Projection: I believe Rosenthal and the Giants is a similar situation as Tauscher and the Packers. I believe the Giants will allow Rosenthal to test free agency.
Mike Wahle- Green Bay Packers http://smashmouth-football.net/player.php?year=2002&id=1041&skin=lp 2003 Projection: A good blocker with age on his side (just 25 years old) but he is not strong. I think the Packers allow him to become a free agent due to other players and needs.
