I always feel like everyone wins on draft day so I never do draft winners and losers. I truly feel like on this day we all win accept for the Vikings, Bears and Packers, they will always suck (In my eyes)
. Here are some of my favorite steals in the draft. Feel free to share your thoughts.
1.10- WR Roy Williams- New Orleans SaintsSolid pick, Williams was the top WR on my board. At 6'2" 212 Lbs., he won't blow you away with his athletic ability but he's solid in every attribute with above average CTH and elite JMP. He is the most complete WR in this draft so landing him all the way at 10 was a solid value for the Saints.
1.14- RB Steven Jackson- Philadelphia EaglesIsn't this the same league that just gave up a billion 1st round picks for Clinton Portis, Ladainian Tomlinson and Stephen Davis? Steven Jackson is an absolute monster and I have no doubt he'll translate in the SFL. How he fell to 1.14 is he skewed upwards in many categories is beyond me. Great value pick here and if all else fails trade him for 3 first round picks down the road.
2.4- DE Jason Babin- Chicago BearsYuck.... I hate giving praise to division rivals but I give credit where it's due. The Bears seemed to have hit a homerun here with Babin, rated the top DE in this draft on my board and appears to be a great find for Da Bears.
2.9- S Madieu Williams- New York JetsWilliams appears on paper like he is an immediate starter who can have an impact right away. I didn't really care for most of the S in this class but Williams was 1 that I felt had the most potential but I didn't work him out.
2.20- TE Casey Cramer- New York JetsI have to get more in tune with positions on these games, for some reason I knew that a FB can be converted to a TE, I do it all the time but I did not know a FB could be converted into a TE, maybe because they usually aren't big and fast enough that I totally glanced over the whole position change. Smart move by Kevin and now he has 2 similar tight ends much like Ben Watson with his athletic frame, I see future pick(s) coming his way for Cramer.
2.32- Tennessee Titans- RB Tatum BellAgain I feel like there's a premium on RB's and Bell is LTish am I wright or am I wrong? There are very similar traits but of course I don't know if he got skewed or not. As of right now though it looks like tremendous value for Gary this late.
3.2- Cleveland Browns- S Bob SandersAlthough Sanders isn't a giant by any means there is no denying he is one of the most talented S in this class. His SPD is above average for the league, He has elite burst to close on defenders, also elite JMP and tackling.
3.8- Denver Broncos- MLB Rod DavisWho knows how well he skewed or didn't but on paper he was in the mix with MLB's Landon Johnson and Courtney Watson at least on my board and I was monitoring him to see if he would have a chance at making it to 4.28 and it became clear fast that he wouldn't. He has a little less athletic ability than the 2 but comes with excellent TAK right off the bat.
3.9- San Diego Chargers- DE Will SmithMuch like the Babin selection I had Will Smith high on my list (also Rest In Paradise ) as he had an excellent blend of athletic ability, enough STR with above average to elite burst, You can't beat that in the 3rd round.
3.11- Dallas Cowboys- LT Chris SneeAnother one I was hoping to fall when Rod Davis came off the board but was gone pretty much as soon as I had the thought in my head. Another athletic, Strong as an ox type of player and above average or average Run and pass blocking skills. His AWR is brutal but it will go up fast if you can string some wins together.
