NFC East1.
Philadelphia Eagles
2.
New York Giants
3.
Dallas Cowboys
4.
Washington Redskins
Analysis: Listen, Leo. If you stay the course, find a steady gameplan, and play to your strength, your
Philadelphia Eagles will win the division. But you have to be patient. Find a gameplan and stick to it. No crazy changes after week 2. I believe in you. Otherwise, I think the
New York Giants take the division. New York had a down year last season, but I think Romeo is going to focus on running Tiki Barber hard and I like his chances for a bounce-back season. I know it might be a little presumptuous to put myself third, but I think the
Dallas Cowboys have a solid chance to win 6-7 games this season, especially looking at who I will be playing. Lastly, we have the
Washington Redskins. This may be a surprise, but Bryan's success hinges on McNair throwing and Portis running. Unfortunately, McNair no longer has good receivers (Lee Evans doesn't count as a #1) and his offensive line won't be able to protect either McNair or Portis. Rough year in Washington.
NFC North1.
Green Bay Packers
2.
Detroit Lions
3.
Minnesota Vikings
4.
Chicago Bears
Analysis: In what is likely the last hurrah for the
Green Bay Packers before legend Brett Favre retires, I would be remiss if I didn't pick them, purely because Favre has to stay healthy for a whole season once -- right? Behind them, I think the rest of the division is all very good and even matched. I do like the
Detroit Lions to continue to improve and progress and possibly push for a playoff spot. I also think we're likely to see some improvement out of a
Minnesota Vikings squad that has a lot more firepower than you would expect for a 5-11 record. I do feel bad putting the
Chicago Bears last, as I fully believe with a solid season they win the division. But someone has to be last here, and this year it may be the Bears.
NFC South1.
Carolina Panthers
2.
Atlanta Falcons
3.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4.
New Orleans Saints
Analysis: What we saw late last year from the
Carolina Panthers was impressive and part of the reason I picked them to do so well last year. They pushed for the playoffs and I believe they'll push hard this whole season and take the division crown. Don't expect the
Atlanta Falcons to back down though. Despite their strong start last year, they will likely regress a tad this year, but still very much be in the hunt for the playoffs. The
Tampa Bay Buccaneers also have some talent on their roster, but they likely necessary depth to win the division and with a lot of players retiring soon, I don't know if it will be getting better. Last, we have the
New Orleans Saints, whom have talent and a future, but don't have that hot ticket item to make them win the division. It's going to be a long year in the Bayou.
NFC West1.
Seattle Seahawks
2.
Arizona Cardinals
3.
San Francisco 49ers
4.
St. Louis Rams
Analysis: Here we go again. Call it intuition, but this seems like a "Rock" season to me, one of those where he is dominant all year long. He's had a couple seasons to build his lineup and is ready to plug in a gameplan that no one else in the division is ready for, pushing the
Seattle Seahawks to a division crown. I also think the
Arizona Cardinals are ready to make a jump. We saw signs of live early last season, before a large drop off, but with more talent being added, thanks to stupid GMs making trades with them, the Cards are ready to rock and roll and possibly push for the playoffs. I feel bad putting both the
San Francisco 49ers and
St. Louis Rams at the bottom of the division, as they're both solid teams. Truthfully, this whole division could end up at .500. I do think that both San Francisco and the Rams have aged and that might not help them this season. They could easily prove me wrong though.
