Baddest Man 2003 Edition
By Brent Lachapelle

Lets take a look at the leagues Baddest Men for the 2003 season.

Quarterback

Peyton Manning-Indianapolis Colts

Seems like a good idea to start with the obvious. Peyton is the cyborg of the SFL. Lets call him T1000 for short. Hitting over 5000 yards in back to back seasons is nothing short of remarkable. He also added 41 touchdowns last season and had a passer rating of 97.8. Although the T1000s numbers are slightly down from 2002, at this rate not a soul on earth is touching them.

Jeff Blake-Baltimore Ravens

Blake was able to do what the T1000 wasnt. Taking the Ravens all the way to the Super Bowl and delivering! Throwing for over 4000 yards adding 34 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions is stellar. His passer rating was a scholar like 102.3, its remarkable numbers like this that can take a team to the promised land!

Mark Brunell-Carolina Panthers

Filling out the top 3 sees Brunell Controversly make the list. His numbers are not as blown up as the first 2. But throwing 34 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions is nothing to scoff at. Delivering at a passer rating of 105.1 is remarkable and top tier status for 2003. Looks like throw power is not everything after all.

Running Backs

Priest Holmes-Kansas City Chiefs

This is a pretty obvious choice for the running back position. As Holmes is simply a Bad Bad man. Getting over 2000 yards rushing is crazy. Add in the 14 touchdowns and 6.2 yards per carry is icing on the cake. Lets not forget the guy only fumbled 2 time through all of that. Maybe we should change his name to T2000!

Ahman Green-Green Bay Packers.

Greens is another +2000 yard guy, but with 13 touchdowns and 5.9 yards per carry. He is just a slight step below T2000. Green does have one huge advantage, his age. Only 27 years old means this production is likely going to continue for a number of years. He also only fumbled twice last season, making Green a Bad Man!

Warrick Dunn-Atlanta Falcons

Dunn is a sneaky dude to make this list. As he only had just over 1600 yards last season. But he did get into the end zone 11 times and saw a carry average at 5.23 which is very good. The real underlying number is he is the only back with this kind of production not to fumble a single time. Quite remarkable actually. Can he duplicate this again....

Wide Receivers

Reggie Wayne-Indianapolis Colts

This goes hand in hand with the play ability of your favorite QB T1000. Even still Reggie had an exceptional season. Only 8 yards shy of 2000 is nothing to sneeze at. The 125 receptions are the most in the league and 15 touchdowns get him elite status numbers. The other big number is YAC. Over 500 of those yards were him juking and jiving down the field on his own! What do we have here? You got it! A Bad Bad Man!

Randy Moss-Minnesota Vikings

Attribute wise this guy is a stud. What to studs do?....back up that rep with exceptional play on the field. Getting over 1500 yards and a chunk play rating at 22.1 yards per catch is gruesome for the opposition. His low drop rating just shows how reliable Moss is and the 16 touchdowns are just gravy on the potatoes! The Baddest man!? Maybe!

Steve Smith-Carolina Panthers

Here we have the opposite of Randy Moss. 5 foot 9 and only 185lbs. This guy is literally flying under the radar. Getting on this list to prove size does not matter. Also receiving 1200 yards 10 touchdowns and only 5 drops gets elite level production. His YAC is nice at over 300, the real kicker is that he plays on special teams also. Acquiring over 1600 yards and a 97 yard TD return. Something both the other guys are missing! That is a Bad Man right there!

Defensive Line

Richard Seymour-New England Patriots

Here we have a guy that is only 25 years old, playing like a ten year vet. His ability to get after the quarterback is not in question. 21 sacks in 2003, back that up with 39 tackles and 6 TFLs. This dude is a problem. The Bad news is he is going to remain a problem for another decade! Yikes!

Warren Sapp-Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Warren is entering the twilight of his career. This dude is still getting it done, 20 sacks last season is elite numbers. His 49 tackles are large and 5 TFLs are just there to pump stats at this point. Even though Sapp has only a few great years remaining.....does not mean this guy...you guessed it! A Bad Man!

John Abraham- New York Jets

Another guy in the prime of his career. The prototypical pass rusher if you were to design one in a lab. He attained 49 tackles last season and 14 sacks. The other number that stands out are his TFLs. 13 is huge for an edge rusher. This is the kind of guy you build a team around...you know a Bad Man!

Offensive Line

Jonathan Ogden-Baltimore Ravens

This guy is setting the bar, six foot nine inches high! Call him the bully of the AFC. 128 pancakes in 2003, come on. Only giving up 2 sacks through all that seems like charity. He is entering the twilight of his career so it wont last forever. It might feel like it though as Bad men like this do not grow on trees!

Chris Samuels-Washington Redskins

Samuels is the next Bad man on the list. Having hit over the century mark for pancakes is elite level right there. Only allowing 4 sacks is the consistency you can only dream of. Put the two together and its a Bad Man meets worst nightmare type player.

Brad Hopkins-New England Patriots

Last on the list but certainly not the least is Brad Hopkins. He fell short of the century mark for pancakes. Even though that was the case, only allowing 1 sack is studdly. The way it looks he can deliver this for a few more seasons for sure. Bad Bad Man!

There you have it, The list for the Baddest Men in the SFL for the 2003 season!
