Mount Rushmore AFC West Edition
By Brent Lachapelle

I will start a series taking a look at the best of the best for every team in the SFL. Starting with the AFC and alternate conference until completed.
Lets take a look a four individuals from each team within the AFC West. These are players that could very well cement their legacy and etch their faces in stone for eternity.

San Diego Chargers. CB Quentin Jammer. Texas.

Quentin is the quintessential corner back you look for when acquiring or drafting a player. Six feet tall and just over 200lbs. This Third year pro is looking to continue his dominance over his AFC West counterparts. Things that separate him from his peers are his elite level awareness and solid athletic ability. With that we can see a high level of production and in turn a healthy paycheck. As Quentin clearly has the right agent representing himself. His devotion to the Chargers is evident in the division games he plays, loving to feast on AFC West opponents. half of his production looks to come within the division. This is were he loves to play and looking into the future I see a hall of fame career, not to mention his etching into the San Diego Chargers history forever.

Oakland Raiders. CB Charles Woodson. Michigan

Another Corner back takes the stage for immortality. Charles is entering the prime of his career. 28 years of age, Six foot one and 200lbs. This fella has the elite level athleticism you only dream of. The definition of shut down corner and the production to back it up. This guy is a pick six machine. Scoring 5 touchdowns in just over 2 seasons is quite the feat. Charles loves to play the Chargers as he has consistently had his best games against them. Looking forward most will agree Charles has only scratched the surface of his legacy. Time will tell if the Raiders pull out the chisel and get to work on that beautiful mug prominently displayed for all to see.

Denver Broncos. WR Anquan Boldin. Florida State.

Boldin was drafted last season at the 22 pick in the first round. He made his rookie debut against the Cincinnati Bengals. Going off for 133 yards and 2 scores, is how Boldin wanted to start the story for his career. Standing six foot one and weighing 216lbs Anquan has that work man like physique. While getting attention early in his carreer, Boldin was also breaking records at a furious pace. Getting over 1300 yards and 13 touchdowns in his debut season is nothing to balk at. Registering 4 +100 yard games and also doing it against some of the best defenses out there. His hit list includes, The Packers, The Patriots, The Chargers and The Bengals. Can this train keep the steam flowing or will we see him station at some point. With his current projections I do see Anquan Boldin getting the Mount Rushmore treatment somewhere in the Mile high City.

Kansas City Chiefs. QB Michael Vick. Virginia Tech.

Vick wont impose you with his size, he does have that flash you see with a confident young quarterback. Starter cap slightly tilted to the side, bright Nike high tops and a thick gold chain with a pair of Dog Tags attached. This guy has that IT factor thats hard to quantify with purely just stats. Truth be told not many running backs have his level of athleticism. Standing six feet tall and weighing 215lbs. Getting off the blocks is no problem for Vick. Add in his big arm, throwing accuracy and high awareness and only going into his 4th season as a pro. It looks like Michael Vick is just starting to scratch the surface for himself. Feasting on both the Raiders and Chargers comes to the delight of GM Tim Miller. I can imagine him calling into the city officials preparing for the day to get Vick enshrined into the football hall of fame. Tim can be seen occasionally with chisel in hand waiting for the day to come!

This Concludes our first part of the Mount Rushmore series and with any luck we hope to complete this before the season ends. Stay tuned for our next series as we switch to the NFC and take a look at some of the best there is to offer.
