Mount Rushmore NFC West Edition
By Brent Lachapelle

I will start a series taking a look at the best of the best for every team in the SFL. Starting with the AFC and alternate conference until completed.
Lets take a look a four individuals from each team within the NFC West. These are players that could very well cement their legacy and etch their faces in stone for eternity.

Seattle Seahawks. WR David Tyree. Syracuse. (George Washington)

David Tyree taken 1.10 in the 2003 SFL draft. Tyree has all the tools you look for in a premier number one wide receiver. The athletically gifted college standout has yet to break out into the upper echlelon of his fellow peers. Still a young seed waiting to flower yet still the franchise's most promising player. The one year pro saw his season debut cut short due to an unfortunate injury. Since then he seems to have found his stride this season. Although the Seahawks are struggling as a team, David has been able to make statements against some of the leagues elite. Week 2 saw his breakout game against the Buccaneers. Pulling in 4 catches for 119 yards and 1 score. Week 5 saw him bust the century mark again against a very well coached Ram team. While his story is still being told along the West Coast of Seattle one thing remains certain. David Tyree looks to be on his way to arguably one of the greatest offensive careers in Seahawk history. Like the founding fathers before him, Tyree looks to make history one great catch at a time.

St. Louis Rams. QB Kurt Warner. Northern Iowa. (Thomas Jefferson)

Some call him a Stalwart while others, the quintessential leader in the locker room. One thing is for certain, Warner is the most valuable player in the St. Louis Rams organization. Hitting on all cylinders is how Kurt separates himself from the other quarterbacks in the league. While adversity has hit him in more then one occasion. The ability to display bounce back attributes has been prevalent throughout his career. Already a Superbowl winner and front runner for most valuable player to his team. Kurt is looking to go out with a bang. His words of "lets just get into the big show" can be heard echoing within the halls of the teams stadium. Clearly his name is headed for the football hall of fame, can he etch his face in stone with another Superbowl title. Only time will tell.

Arizona Cardinals. QB Carson Palmer. USC. (Theodore Roosevelt)

Carson's career is the polar opposite of the aforementioned Kurt Warner. Still young in age and his career still in its infancy. His future looks bright as his rookie season sent shock waves across the league. The biggest statement being " I'm here to stay". It is very rare to see a quarterback post a near 90 QBR Rating in his season debut. All the while posting veteran type numbers across board is nothing short of spectacular. His big breakout game came early, week 2 against the Seahawks. Carson was able to complete over 60% of his passes and total over 200 yards. Adding in 3 total scores and a passer rating of 124 was elite level. This type of production was beginning to become routine. As his favorite places to place include Seattle and St. Louis and his hit list goes long and deep. At his current projection he may even be in the conversation as the greatest to ever do it. While GM Tyler Richardson has still work to do to provide talent around him. Its appears that Carson is able to make the players around him better. That is one single trait that can be taken to enshrinement of the leagues best to ever play the game. Not bad for a sophomore with still plenty to prove.

San Francisco 49ers. WR Terrell Owens. Chattanooga. (Abraham Lincoln)

Terrell might very well be the most polarizing character in the entire league. There are two clear sides to his perception. We have the side that debates that he is egotistical, selfish and brash. The other will use the words like, generational, elite and exceptional talent. One thing that can't be debated is production. Owen's on field ability is near the Everest of peaks. Not many get to make that climb, while others are seen fallen to the bottom to never recover. Can Terrell go out on top? He could very well get that opportunity. One could question if he has been given his greatest chance to succeed. That remains to be seen. Having 10 games under his belt that crushed the century mark is remarkable. Crushing division foes is the other. Feasting on the Cardinals and Seahawks is just another day. Can GM Peter Fenger get his most polarizing player to take the next step into the stratosphere of the elite. Perhaps, but then will they commit to having him remain atop the franchise history books and etched in stone for eternity?

This concludes our second part of the Mount Rushmore series. As well will switch back to the AFC and continue our search for the best of the best.
