There was a previous post which named the top non-match eligible free agents. I thought we would now take a look at the top match eligible fee agents.
QB Charlie Batch | 79 OVR | 31 years old 71 AWR | 85 THP | 87 THA Batch is not a superstar but he can get the job done to the extent where he will at least keep you in a game if an injury hits your starting QB.
RB Corey Dillon | 93 OVR | 31 years old 89 SPD | 81 STR | 86 AWR | 87 AGI | 92 ACC | 91 CAR | 99 BTK While Dillon is no spring chicken there is no doubt he can still get the job done at the ripe old age (for a RB) of 31.
FB What? No match eligible FB's? :)
TE Alge Crumpler | 92 OVR | 28 years old 80 SPD | 74 STR | 80 AWR | 80 AGI | 82 ACC | 85 CTH With a weak upcoming TE draft there is a chance Crumpler gets offers from teams willing to give up a pick for him. There is really nothing to dislike with Crumpler.
WR Steve Smith | 97 OVR | 26 years old 96 SPD | 73 STR | 82 AWR | 98 AGI | 97 ACC | 94 CTH | 99 JMP Yeah, yeah, yeah, SMith is only 5'9". He has 73 STR though which helps sets him apart from the other shorter WR's. I was surprised to see Smith be in this position as it makes it very easy for someone to offer a large contract at Smith, one which the Panthers will not match gaining them a future 1st round draft pick. Multiple teams were willing to give Breck more than this for Smith during the season. Obviously Smith was a big part of the Panthers success in 2004. I see a new team for Smith in 2005. I wish I could say his new team was the Washington Redskins but I do not think we can afford him.

C Jeff Saturday | 95 OVR | 30 years old 66 SPD | 87 STR | 82 AWR | 66 AGI | 74 ACC | 98 PBK | 94 RBK Saturday will help anchor the offensive line for any team he plays for. If there is any weakness here it is the (perhaps surprisingly) lowish 82 AWR. This iwll only continue to increase though.
RG No match eligible players
RT Tony Boselli | 99 OVR | 33 years old 61 SPD | 95 STR | 93 AWR | 67 AGI | 73 ACC | 97 PBK | 97 RBK I am beginning to get confused with the Boselli twins. They seem to pop up all over the place including the retirement list. We now have a Boselli cousin somewhere in the league now too. I feel like we are in a Lifetime made for TV show featuring the Boselli family. If you are looking for a veteran RT to help keep your rookie QB upright you would not go wrong with offering Boselli a contact. I hear Cards GM Tyler Richardson like 1st round picks so I have little doubt he would allow Boselli to go for a good future draft pick.
LE Jason Taylor | 99 OVR | 31 years old 86 SPD | 85 STR | 85 AWR | 85 AGI | 89 ACC | 87 TAK Taylor is a superstar. In my opinion he would be worth a 1 year max deal offer which would assure him of landing with a new team in 2005 for the somewhat low cost of a future 1st round draft pick. If I am a hot seat GM I am considering making a serious run at Taylor.
RE Aaron Schobel | 93 OVR | 28 years old 82 SPD | 76 STR | 76 AWR | 81 AGI | 84 ACC | 84 TAK Schobel is a rock solid RE with the important category of age on his side.
DT Kris Jenkins | 93 OVR | 26 years old 57 SPD | 97 STR | 77 AWR |68 AGI | 78 ACC | 88 TAK This big, 6'4", 335 # man beast would be able to anchor any Dline in a 3-4 defense and could very well be worth a 1st or 2nd round draft pick. I doubt Jags GM Jason Arnold would allow Jenkins to go for anything less than a future 1st and most likely not even then.
LOLB Sam Cowart | 85 OVR | 30 years old 80 SPD | 71 STR | 85 AWR | 78 AGI | 83 ACC | 83 TAK Cowart is a solid player who can play well but not the type of player who is going to get a lot of attention from GM's who have to give up draft pick compensation (at least in my opinion).
MLB Jeremiah Trotter | 94 OVR | 28 years old 82 SPD | 84 STR | 93 AWR | 82 AGI | 85 ACC | 86 TAK Trotter is still young (under 30 years old) and could be a leader for any team who would decide to place a bid on him. With the Browns trading their other young MLB I expect GM Tom Collins to match just about any reasonable offer placed on Trotter.
ROLB Dexter Coakley | 97 OVR | 33 years old 85 SPD | 69 STR | 92 AWR |84 AGI | 85 ACC | 95 TAK Wow, what a player! Coakley helped bring a championship to the Washington Redskins and GM Mellon in 2004. If I were a GM, I would place a huge offer on Coakley as he will most likely help bring a championship to his next team too! Okay, now being realistic Coakley is getting older however he is still a freak of an OLB. I would match just about any reasonable offer as I need Coakley to help bring stability to a younger team.
CB Donnie Abraham | 97 OVR | 32 years old 92 SPD | 57 STR | 99 AWR | 91 AGI | 91 ACC | 80 CTH | 91 JMP | 62 TAK Like LE Taylor above I believe CB Abraham would really help a hot seat team. This interception machine is on the wring side of 30 and is less than 6 foot tall but if you are a hot seat team you take what you can get.
FS Keion Carpenter | 87 OVR | 28 years old 86 SPD | 64 STR | 82 AWR | 82 AGI | 86 ACC | 63 CTH | 88 JMP | 75 TAK Putting Carpenter in front of other match eligible FS's such as Lawter Millor and Jerome Woods will not be a popular decision. I did this based on Carpenter's age of 28 versus 32 for Milloy and Woods.
SS Deon Grant | 82 OVR | 26 years old 83 SPD | 73 STR | 69 AWR | 85 AGI | 87 ACC | 60 CTH | 84 JMP | 81 TAK Grant is raw but an enticing young SS. He lacks a bit in SPD but has great STR and let's face most GM's say SPD is not the most important aspect for a SS.
K Jeff Wilkins | 99 OVR | 33 years old 81 AWR | 93 KPW | 99 KAC Wilkins has a big, accurate leg and with a kicker there is nothing else to need or want. He will win a game if a potential FG is the decision maker. Is that worth a draft pick compensation?
P What? Are you kidding no match eligible punters? :)
