Best Player Available [BPA] ~ Pre-Skew / No Workouts ~QB: I value AWR/THA first and then consider THP ? There are 15 QB?s with AWR = 90 & THA = 90 (these 15 players have THP of 86 and higher, which I find acceptable). ~ If I lower the bar to AWR = 85 / THA = 85 it offers 20 players. ~
Worth noting ? this is easily the most valuable position in the game, though you can?t win with a quality QB alone it?s a PRETTY damn good start!Rookies: I think there?s 5 players worth drafting? maybe 2 worthy of 1st round consideration.
QB Kyle Orton [AWR = 67 / THP = 95 / THA = 86]: Safest bet if you?re deciding to draft a QB.
QB Alex Smith [AWR = 67 / THP = 90 / THA = 87]: Better have activity points in hand (100,000), he might be a Scrambler!
QB Aaron Rogers [AWR = 64 / THP = 87 / THA = 87]: Name recognition alone will get him selected in earlier than advisable (anyone remember Romo), I bet in the 2nd round early.
Career Back-Ups: Charlie Frye [AWR = 63 / THP = 93 / THA = 84], David Green [AWR = 63 / THP = 90 / THA = 86] & Jason Campbell [AWR = 61 / THP = 93 / THA = 82].
HB: I value SPD/STR/AGI/ACC/BTK first and make myself aware of CAR/INJ ? There are 13 HB?s with SPD = 88 / STR = 75 / AGI = 88 / ACC = 88 / BTK = 85 (these 13 players have CAR of 80 and INJ of 63 and higher). ~ If I lower the bar to STR = 70 / BTK = 80 it offers 21 players. ~
Worth noting ? the style of runner desired can vary from GM to GM? I tend to look for STR/BTK first and then set a bare minimum on SPD/AGI/ACC.Rookies: I view this class of runners to be WEAK attribute-wise and find name recognition to be mild (at best), possibly preventing GM?s from reaching.
HB Cedric Benson [SPD = 88 / STR = 67 / AGI = 90 / ACC = 90 / BTK = 89]: Safest bet if you need someone to carry the load.
HB Marion Barber [SPD = 87 / STR = 69 / AGI = 88 / ACC = 93 / BTK = 85]: He?s a poor man?s Cedric Benson and can return kicks [KR = 87] ? nothing flashy about him, but could get the job done.
HB Ronnie Brown [SPD = 87 / STR = 75 / AGI = 84 / ACC = 90 / BTK = 82]: I struggled to decide on who would make the top 3 HB?s, I guess he?s deserving.
Need a 3rd Down / Change of Pace guy? consider HB J.J. Arrington [SPD = 90 / STR = 68 / AGI = 92 / ACC = 95 / BTK = 75 & KR = 90]: I actually wouldn?t be surprised if Arrington is selected atop the HB options, his average BTK dropped him in my list.
FB: I don?t place much value on the position to be honest? if I think about what might make sense, I value STR/RBK first and then SPD/AGI/ACC. Bottom line, I want a lead blocker who can get me the tough yards when called on the few carries he might get in a game. Using STR = 80 & RBK = 60 I found 22 players ? when narrow further with SPD = 70 / AGI = 70 / ACC = 70 it leaves me with 12 players.Rookies: I?ll eat my hat if a FB is taken in the first round ? best bet, a FB gets selected out of need late in the second (more likely early 3rd round).
FB John Kuhn [SPD = 86 / STR = 80 / AGI = 85 / ACC = 89 / RBK = 61]: It?s possible someone take Kuhn earlier than advised (late 1st early 2nd) knowing they will have draft a player who instantly is the best at his position in the league ? no one currently can boast the attribute combination John Kuhn brings to the table.
FB Justin Green [SPD = 74 / STR = 72 / AGI = 77 / ACC = 74 / RBK = 59]: Respectable attributes here, will likely be a starter on a team needing a FB.
If you?re desperate for a FB? consider drafting a TE and convert him to FB ? maybe, TE Kevin Everett?
WR: You could keep this simple and set your bar with HT = 6?0? / SPD = 93 / ACC = 93 (a VERY sexy list ? 15 players). Realistically, a team needs 3 legitimate guys (3x32=96)? and knowing I value other attributes like AGI / CTH / JMP I adjusted my ?Fit the System? and came up with 76 players when I used SPD = 88 / AGI = 85 / ACC = 88 / CTH = 75 / JMP = 85 (got ugly trying to figure out 96 ? so I didn?t).Rookies: What GM?s are drawn to in a WR vary WILDLY? so this is just one GM?s attempt to identify no brainer?s?
WR Braylon Edwards [HT = 6?3? / SPD = 91 / AGI = 94 / ACC = 92 / CTH = 84 / JMP = 89]: I think Edwards is a cut about the rest at his position, he seems to check all he boxes and is a student of the game [AWR = 66].
WR Matt Jones [HT = 6?6? / SPD = 91 / AGI = 91 / ACC = 93 / CTH = 82 / JMP = 88]: There?s no ignoring his height at 6?6?, and a lot of GM?s will be instantly drawn in by that (I don?t blame him). Not sure whether his undisciplined nature [AWR = 51] has him fall in the 1st round or not (probably not).
WR Mike Williams [HT = 6?4? / SPD = 90 / AGI = 91 / ACC = 90 / CTH = 88 / JMP = 85]: Another big target that will go early (top half of the 1st round), excellent route runner [AWR = 61] and the best hands available in the draft.
Bang or Bust? both WR Roscoe Parrish & WR Craig Bragg can take the top off a defense and could be an option for a GM needing a BURNER (both can return kicks also).
OL: I like linemen that have a QUICK first step and are athletic [AGI = 60 / ACC = 70], I see 109 of those type of players. I also place value in speed and strength [SPD = 55 / STR = 90], I see 103 of those type of players. If you take all 4 attributes into account (and lower the bar slightly - -2 on each of those attribute standards) you?re left with 89 players (small pool when you consider there?s 5 positions to fill on 32 teams = 160). We shouldn?t forget why we need these guys, pass and run blocking? I set the bar at 85. So with the following [SPD = 53 / STR = 88 / AGI = 58 / ACC = 68 / PBK = 85 / RBK = 85] you?re left with 54 players.Rookies: This can be a difficult position to scout, but it?s clear the draft class has some special talent available!
LT Wes Sims [SPD = 68/ STR = 95 / AGI = 74 / ACC = 79 / PBK = 85 / RBK = 85]: Basically, you?re looking at Orlando Pace?s clone? probably the most complete player in the draft. I?ll be shocked if he?s not selected in the top 5!
LT Marcus Johnson [SPD = 64 / STR = 92 / AGI = 72 / ACC = 77 / PBK = 85 / RBK = 86]: Not everyone can draft Wes Sims, luckily there?s another fine talent in Marcus Johnson ? should be drafted in the top half of the 1st round (he won?t be sadly).
RT Todd Herremans [SPD = 70/ STR = 92 / AGI = 71 / ACC = 74 / PBK = 86 / RBK = 84]: All round solid player who has shown some signs of lacking discipline [AWR = 53] ? should be draft late 1st round.
RT Pete McMahon [SPD = 65 / STR = 95 / AGI = 69 / ACC = 73 / PBK = 82 / RBK = 78]: Love his size and ability to move? blocking needs some polish though.
Don?t over look? both LT Jammal Brown (smart AWR = 70) & RT Rob Petitte (strong STR = 97) would make GREAT additions to a team?s offensive line.
