1.1- Arizona Cardinals- CB Brandon Browner- Oregon State This is a no brainer, there is no CB like him and he can hang with any WR in the league. Even if he skews down a bit he's an absolute stud in the form of Bobby Taylor and teamed with Joey Thomas is going to be a formidable secondary in the not so distant future.
1.2- Denver Broncos- WR Matt Jones- Arkansas Much like the pick above, there are going to be very few corners in this league who can cover him at all, put him at WR 2 and there will most likely be no corner who can cover this 6'6" 220 lbs. monster, I'm thinking Darryl and Will traded out of the #3 spot knowing they couldn't land Jones here, just a theory of mine.
1.3- Arizona Cardinals- OLB Shawne Merriman- Maryland This was a tough one between S OJ Atogwe and OLB Merriman but I chose Merrimean here obviously. I know Tyler in the past has said he doesn't value OLB very high unless he's a rare prospect. I think Merriman is a rare prospect, he offers size, speed, he's an athlete who will have no problem shedding tackles to get to the QB or RB, that being said I'm sure he'll probably go Otgwe then .
1.4- Detroit Lions- WR Braylon Edwards- Michigan I have 4 players who I really like in this draft that I think could make an immediate impact on my team and Edwards is one of them. I have not done any private workouts and won't up until draft day as I'll see who falls to me and then do my due my homeowrk but Edwards would be my immediate WR 2 opposite of Mason putting White in the slot.
1.5- Buffalo Bills- OT Wes Sims- Oklahoma The main goal should be to keep McNair upright so OL especially OT needs to be upgraded and Sims look the big dawg in this years OT class, he has a blend of size, speed and pure athleticism. The Bills could go a couple ways here but I think LT makes sense.
1.6- Jacksonville Jaguars- WR Mike Williams- USC Moss is a decent WR but to me he's more of a slot guy, Ogood is a solid WR 1 as he has the size to make a difference, put WR Mike Williams at WR2 and Eli has a pair of huge targets to throw to who can move.
1.7- Seattle Seahawks- FS O.J. Otogwe- Stanford This pick just screams Rock, I don't normally value a S this high but there is nobody in the league like him due to his athleticism and his safeties didn't make any impact at all last season, this will change in 2005.
1.8- Arizona Cardinals- ILB Alfred Fincher- UConn The Cards land yet another impact player here in Fincher, my preference would be Odell Thurman as i think he's the most polished but I know the Cards GM can't pass on the athlete that Fincher is, none of these ILB are huge but they all bring something different to the table. Another home run draft for the Cards.
1.9- Jacksonville Jaguars- CB Antrell Rolle- Miami The jags just drafted Tillman in last years draft in the exact same spot I have them taking Rolle this year, also they just picked up Aaron Glenn in FA but I view him as a NCB, he's only 5'9" and allowed 40+ catches allowed last season, he would be an elite NCB. Rolle brings everything to the table and paired with Tillman will be one of the best Corner trios in the SFL.
1.10- St. Louis Rams- QB Kyle Orton- Purdue The rams used Pace and a mid draft pick to move up to 3 which I thought the only logical scenario was for a QB who i believed to be Kyle Orton and since then the pick was moved and the Rams sit here at 10 and QB Kyle orton is still on the board, i still believe he's the pick here.
1.11- New Orleans Saints- OLB Cameron Wake- Penn State I don't see many holes in the Saints' armor so i went where there was a hole and it appears to be ROLB, he's outside the top 10 so you take best available and I think Wake falls into that category.
1.12- Chicago Bears- ILB Odell Thurman- Georgia Thurman to me is the complete package at the position which is why it makes me ill that he is going to a division rival. He isn't the tallest but he's an athlete who will have no problems shedding tackles to get to the RB or QB and should be really good in coverage with 62 CTH.
1.13- San Diego Chargers- LT Jammal Brown- Oklahoma The Chargers have some holes especially along the OL and Jammal Brown would fill a huge void. Brown is a big dude, Strong and has the highest football IQ, I view him as a guy who will be around 10+ seasons as a bookend OT.
1.14- San Francisco 49ers- QB Aaron Rodgers- Cal This team just lacks a QB, I would have went with Alex Smith here but he's a scrambler, I'm not sure if Rodgers turns into a scrambler or not with a workout but the 49ers get the new face of the franchise.
1.15- Chicago Bears- CB Stanford Routt- Houston With Al Harris on the wrong side of 30 , Ken Lucas will soon need a dancing partner and Routt looks like he'll be a top notch CB for quite awhile. He's tall, decent football AWR, a rare athlete, he can hang with most WR.
1.16- New York Jets- CB Corey Webster- LSU Webster is a steal at this point so it's fitting that he goes to Kevin and the Jets. He'll bring stability to the secondary after losing some talent there in FA. He's the height that the GM likes plus he has all around solid attributes.
1.17- Dallas Cowboys- ILB Jordan Beck- Cal Poly SOL Beck is BPA here and fits a need for the Cowboys, he'd be an immediate starter in the middle and is the biggest of the 3 ILB's, He has good athletic ability and a decent tackler.
1.18- Baltimore Ravens- WR Vincent Jackson- N. Colorado As i look at the Ravens lineup I see an almost complete team accept at the WR position and here sits a 6'5" monster and a poor mans version of Matt Jones who went in the top 5, this would be a steal here for the crows.
1.19- San Diego Chargers- CB Justin Miller- Clemson Miller has a chance to be a stud and won't need to start right away for the Chargers but he can if they need him to. Miller isn't the tallest at 5'10" but has everything else. With Burris on his last days Miller could play NCB in year 1 and then slide into the #2 CB role next year.
1.20- Atlanta Falcons- CB Adam "Pacman" Jones- West Virginia The secondary needs a complete overhaul and it starts with Jones at corner, he'll start along side Allen Rossem or Mario Edwards. There is still work to be done after that.
1.21- Cincinnati Bengals- OT Todd Herremans- Saginaw Valley Maybe it's not an immediate need but Kitna got sacked every 7 times he dropped back because of RT Mike Goff. Herremans is an athletic freak at the position I was just trying to find a right fit and I think I found one here in Cincy perhaps.
1.22- Kansas City Chiefs- WR Craig Bragg- UCLA Acquiring WR Donte Stallworth in a trade was a smart move and also acquring Byron Leftwich, now it's time to give the dude some weapons. Put Bragg opposite of Stallworth at the #2 position and watch him flourish.
1.23- Denver Broncos- RB Cedric Benson- Texas The Broncos have a few holes to fill and they fill a big one here with the addition of Cedric Benson who I consider the cream of this years crop. He is by no means the fastest RB to come out but he has a solid all around skill set to go along with his 5'10" 222 lbs. frame.
1.24- Carolina Panthers- FS Ben Emanuel- UCLA The Panthers have some glaring holes on defense and although DT is a pretty big need I'm going BPA at a position of need and to me that's Emanuel, he isn't Otowe but he has a very good skill set and at 6'3" with 90 SPD you just can't teach that.
1.25- Oakland Raiders- RT Pete McMahon- Iowa Mcmahon is a heck of an athlete at 6'8" and 330 lbs. there are not many like him around and there is a definite need to protect Garcia. I think this pick would make alot of sense.
1.26- Indianapolis Colts- CB Carlos Rogers- Auburn Rogers would be a welcome addition in Indy as the secondary other than Walt Harris and Donovan Darrius could use an upgrade. Rogers is a solid all around corner who would play opposite of Harris immediately.
1.27- Minnesota Vikings- LE Erasmus James- Wisconsin James brings size, speed, strength, he's pretty much the entire package. I looked at Cody and Spears here also but they'd have to take an AWR hit but that might not matter to Neal.
1.28- Minnesota Vikings- RB Ronnie Brown- Auburn Obviously it was between Brown and Marion the barbarian here but I went with Brown since both were close to one another I thought maybe Neal would prefer Browns height /weight combo. He would be the heir apparent to George.
1.29- New England Patriots- RG Adam Snyder- Oregon Snyder is just more insurance to keep your top notch QB upright, he is in my opinion the top RG out there in this draft and a big body at 6'6" 325 lbs., Tom Brady approves of this pick.
1.30- Miami Dolphins- RG Dan Connolly- SE Missouri State RG Fred Weary got pummeled last season with 41 PAn and 7 sacks allowed, more so that means Tim Couch got pummeled and you can't have that. Connolly is 6'4" 305 lbs but comes with 98 STR and nimble on his feet, he could come in and start right away.
1.31- Arizona Cardinals- TE Heath Miller- Virginia This pick has probably been traded for a top 5 by the time I'm done writing it but as it stands the RG selection pool just got thinned out but there seems to be a need for a difference maker at the TE position and Heath Miller seems like a great fit for a Cardinals team who is stocking up on talent left and right.
1.32- Miami Dolphins- WR Roscoe Parrish- Miami This may be a long shot but not only does Parrish have game changing speed/acc/and AgI but he can also catch, as an added bonus he's also a top notch kick returner. As a slot or #2 WR he can do some real damage.
