After week 3 lets take a look at players leading in stats at their respective positions. We'll also see how their play is shaping up for the season and if they can continue the same average for the entire 16 games schedule.
Quarterback.
Donovan McNabb. Philadelphia Eagles
Donovan is off to a great start in Philly. Throwing for a league leading 943 yards adding in 6 touchdowns and only one interception. With a passer rating of 115.7 this looks to be a year where GM Leonard Jones attempts to save his job. If McNabb can keep this up by years end he will look to rack up over 5000 yards plus 32 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. Equalling a passer rating of 115 should get him into the conversation of MVP talks sooner then later.
Trent Green. Atlanta Falcons.
Next up is Trent Green of the Atlanta Falcons. After a Bum week 1 things seem to taken a dramatic turn for the stellar. At this torrid pace we are looking to see Green rack up over 4200 yards through the air. The big number will be touchdowns, as it seems he may be able to hit an unreal number at 58 over the course of the season. Adding in only 11 interceptions and a passer rating equal to 120.9. Could that elusive SuperBowl be on the horizon!? Hard to argue against that if he can just keep up the status Quo.
Daunte Culpepper. Minnesota Vikings.
Last but certainly not least we look at Culpepper. His numbers are just below McNabb and Green in respective areas. The big number that he is leading in is passer rating. 149.3 after three games is elite. That's just below a perfect game in 3 outings. He looks to also add in over 4200 yards this season and pile up 43 touchdowns. Lets not forget that at this pace he looks to complete the season with an astonishing Zero interceptions. Tough luck for the boys in the NFC North and the NFC as a whole.
Running Back
Shaun Alexander. Seattle Seahawks.
It seems as Seattle has found new life in their running game. Alexander is hitting on all cylinders right now. If this trend can continue he is looking to put up over 2300 yards on the ground. Add in 16 total touchdowns and a yards per attempt at a lofty 7.0. This may be how the Seahawks GM is able to keep his job. It won't be easy to maintain this kind of production, but after 3 games this is his pace for the season.
T.J. Duckett. Atlanta Falcons.
We see another Falcon on this list. Wow, this really could be their year. Adding this complimentary piece along side Trent Green is a real game changer. He on pace for over 2000 yards rushing this year. Plus 16 touchdowns is no joke either. The real killer is his yards per attempt at a whopping 10 avg. The freight train in Atlanta has just boarded. Look for them not to make any stops along the way to the postseason.
Tim Biakabutuka. Carolina Panthers.
Another back from the NFC south and the third from the NFC conference. Time has quietly putting up extraordinary numbers as well. Tim is eyeing up the 20 mark for touchdowns this season and is on pace for an unreal 21. Adding in over 1800 yards and another monster yards per attempt at 9.0. This looks to be another reason why the Panthers were a favorite to reach the post season this year. If they can get the QB play up a notch then look out Y'all!
Wide Receiver.
Maurice Mann. Philadelphia Eagles.
Another Eagle has made the list. No surprise as him a McNabb clearly have a nice connection. If the first three games are any indication of how the season will go. Mann is looking at hitting over 2100 receiving yards and adding in 16 touchdowns. Not to mention have a catch avg per play at nearly 22 ypc. The Eagles are looking to get teams to respect the passing game early on, then unleash Steven Jackson down the stretch!
Randy Moss. Minnesota Vikings.
Here we have no surprise again. Moss is the best receiver in the league hands down. I think he actually makes Culpepper better and not the other way around. At this pace Moss is looking to gain just under 2000 receiving yards this season. The big number come in touchdowns. If everything stays the course look for randy to hit nearly 26 for the season. Plus his yards per catch is nice at 25 per catch. Things are looking good for Minnesota this season. They join a group of teams that are vying for the ultimate prize this year.
Chad Johnson. Oakland Raiders.
Chad has shown the ability to be a stand out at the receiver position since joining the Raiders squad last year. Not as flashy as the top guys but still impressive none the less. He is on pace to hit 1700 receiving yards this season. Plus a nice touchdown number at 21. His yards per catch is 18 but the touchdown percentage looks to remain around 25%. If this keeps up, I think the Raiders have found their go to guy for Jeff Garcia this season. There also looks to be a good chance they stay the favorite to compete for the Super Bowl this year representing the AFC.
So this is a look at the best offensive players so far this season and if they stay on pace the possible numbers they could put up come the years end.
