The #6 seed - Week 17

Remaining Games, Permutations
-----------------------------------------------------
San Diego 9-6 - AFC West winners

Tennessee 9-6

@ #8

This is pure winner takes all for the AFC South.

The Titans are the in form team and Jacksonville, after starting off 6-0, securing Jason Arnold's GM-ship, have lost 3 of the last 4. It is a home tie against Tennessee - it's too close to call - but I'm going with Jacksonville here in a barn burner.

Prediction: JAX 37 - 34 TEN

Cleveland 8-7

vs #26

The Browns secured a key win over Pittsburgh last week. They HAVE to beat Baltimore to have a chance to make the offseason - it is as simple as that.

Prediction: CLE 24 - 14 BAL

Indianapolis 7-8 - Eliminated

Oakland 7-8 Eliminated

Kansas City 7-8 - Eliminated

Miami 7-8 - Eliminated

So who gets the #6 seed?
It is no secret that GM Gary Cohen needs to make the playoffs to avoid the hotseat next season. He has two chances - beating Jacksonville or losing that game and hoping Cleveland comes up short. The same applies to Tom Collins on the shore of Lake Erie. Both need postseason football to extend their GM records.

Interestingly, Tennessee holds the H2H over Cleveland - and I'm not certain if that trumps the conference record or not in Madden but it does in the NFL. If it does, Tennessee are in regardless of next week's result and Cleveland cannot make the post-season unless Tennessee win and Jacksonville lose. Then - due to the H2H loss vs the Browns - Jacksonville will miss the playoffs.

So....
make the playoffs as #6 seed with a win and a Jacksonville loss due to the H2H record tiebreaker over Jacksonville.
They also have a superior conference record.

win the AFC South with a win; if they lose they are the #6 seed due to the H2H record tiebreaker over Cleveland.

win the AFC South with a win; if they lose they are eliminated - to Cleveland based on the H2H record tiebreaker.

I think that is correct but please feel free to jump in and tell me otherwise.
