2006 SFL MOCK DRAFT V2

1.1- Detroit Lions- WR Brandon Marshall- UCF
This isn't changing. Cool

1.2- New Orleans Saints- DBrickashaw Ferguson- Virginia
If a trade down isn't in the works then I expect Ferguson to be the pick, he's the 2nd best player in the draft on my list and can play anywhere along the OL.

1.3- New York Jets- RE Darryl Tapp- Virginia Tech
After trading away DE John Abraham, OLB Jamir Miller and OT Kareem Mckenzie they replace one back with a younger version of Abraham in Darryl Tapp who should have a monster season right away.

1.4- Houston Texans- WR Corey Rodgers- TCU
A shiny new toy for either QB Carr or QB Ragone to throw to, Rodgers offers good size at 6'2" and off the charts SPD 99 and is right up there with Marshall as far as athletic ability.

1.5- Baltimore Ravens- DT Haloti Ngata- Oregon
Ngata is one of those DT's who can anchor your entire DL, I think he's that good and a reunion with a familiar team is always cool to. There are not going to be many interior OL who will be able to move this monster off the line.

1.6- Tampa Bay Buccaneers- CB Marcus Maxey- Miami
He would immediately be the #1 CB in TB right out of the gate and provides great size @ 6'1", he's the #1 CB on my list and would fill a big need.

1.7- Seattle Seahawks- DE Mario Williams- N.C. State
A speed edge rusher who will have double digit sacks year 1 is just what Rock Hewko needs to keep his job. Super Mario will be one of the premier pass rushers in this league for a long time.

1.8- Indianapolis Colts- ILB Leon Williams- Miami
Leon Williams will replace Brackett who although had a productive season is really on his last legs. Williams will bring fresh legs to the LB core and I don't see a big drop in production just because he's a rookie.

1.9- Carolina Panthers- OT Marcus McNeill- Aubrun
Green was solid at LT for Carolina last season with 76 PAN to 1 Sack allowed but that seems like a fluke to me. Mcneill has the potential to be a bookend LT for the next decade.

1.10- Carolina Panthers- QB Matt Leinart- USC
If GM Henry is looking for a QB of the future he has the chance to take a pretty good prospect who can wait in the wings for 2-3 seasons behind Brunell and Griese while progressing. Hopefully getting a few playoffs berths under their belt in the process.

1.11- Minnesota Vikings- RT Quinn Ojinnaka- Syracuse
Neal can't pass on these athletic OL and I doubt they go into the season with Gorin as the RT, I mean I hope they do but it's doubtful. Quinn is one of the most athletic freaks on the OL in this class.

1.12- Houston Texans- CB Tye Hill- Clemson
The Texans get the speed WR and now a #1 CB which they were lacking at the start of this draft. Hill isn't the biggest guy but he has all the attributes of being a shutdown corner.

1.13- Seattle Seahawks- RT Ryan OCallaghan- Cal
He's a physical specimen at 6'7" 344 lbs., not the fastest of foot but great burst off the line and not many will be able to blow past him with 98 STR.

1.14- New England Patriots- DQwell Jackson- Maryland
Teddy Bruschi isn't getting any younger and this should be his last season in NE. Although the 1 knock on Jackson is his size he posses everything else you look for in an elite LB and he has the makings of one.

1.15- New York Jets- OLB A.J. Hawk- Ohio State
And now here is the younger replacement for OLB Jamir Miller, who departed via the Philadelphia Eagles. Hawk is a younger version of Miller who is similar in many of his attributes.

1.16- Atlanta Falcons- RT Jeremy Trueblood- Boston College
Trueblood much like OCallaghan who went to the Seahawks isn't going to win any races but he uses his 6'9" 330 lbs. frame and STR to bull you off the line, he also has quick burst and above average run and pass blocking.

1.17- San Francisco 49ers- ILB Abdul Hodge- Iowa
Hodge would be an adequate replacement for Derrick Smith who although had a productive season did give up a bunch of pass plays. Hodge would be an upgrade at this stage of Smith's career.

1.18- Denver Broncos- ILB Stephen Tulloch- N.C. State
The only blemish on Tulloch is his size but I think he's still too good to pass up this late in the 1st round. SPD, AWR, STR, ACC and TAK are all top notch so I don't see him lasting much longer.

1.19- Miami Dolphins- DT Brodrick Bunkley- Florida State
There are some openings along the OL that look like they could be filled but I don't see a player worthy of this spot. Bunkley would add a nice 1-2 bunch alongside of Tubbs along the interior DL.

1.20- Chicago Bears- CB Jimmy Williams- Virginia Tech
You now have 2 teams in your division with two 6'4" WR's to sdeal with then it's time to bring in some big corners. I think whoever turns out the best between Jimmy Williams or Antonio Cromartie will be the selection here.

1.21- Minnesota Vikings- OLB Thomas Howard- UTEP
I think the Vikings could add another big speed LB here with Howard to go along with Henderson and Brooks. Not many other needs after taking care of the RT position earlier.

1.22- Denver Broncos- SS Roman Harper- Alabama
I'm sticking with Harper here. Kennedy had a productive season in 2005 but allowed double digit catches allowed for the 3rd season in a row, I think Harper would upgrade the position.

1.23- Arizona Cardinals- OLB Manny Lawson- N.C. State
Well after trading away OLB Shawne Merriman the former top 10 pick from last season why not add another large OLB in Manny Lawson who's one the biggest LB's in this class plus has the speed to cover TE's and RB's.

1.24- Cleveland Browns- DT Domata Peko- Michigan State
At this point I might put RB Lendale White as the pick here, did I just see the Browns trade for another RB? Peko would be a nice compliment to the run stuffing Jenkins as he's more the speed rusher to get to the QB.

1.25- Miami Dolphins- RG Davin Joseph- Oklahoma
Joseph would be a plug and play G for the Phins who have a need at the position and imo the best G in this draft class. A nice blend of SPD, power and above average blocking skills to boot.

1.26- Chicago Bears- TE Vernon Davis- Maryland
QB Alex Smith gets another target this time in the form of the very talented TE Vernon Davis, his SPD sets him apart from the rest. Besides being a mismatch for defenses he also has very good hands.

1.27- New York Giants- FS Pat Watkins- Florida State
Watkins is the Giant amongst the safety group at 6'5" plus he has SPD which is scary. I originally picked them to take a CB here but with Brown, Collins and Allen i think they can look at other positions to upgrade like FS.

1.28- Dallas Cowboys- LG Max Jean-Gilles- Georgia
The Cowboys filled the roster with some solid vets this offseason now some youth along the OL with Gilles here who adds brute STR with agility.

1.29- Carolina Panthers- CB Antonio Cromartie- Florida State
The Panthers have had a really good offseason imo. They added a top notch LT, QB of the future and now add a premiere CB in the form of 6'2" Antonio Cromartie. possibly moving either Henry or Baxter to SS.

1.30- Cincinnati Bengals- FS Nate Salley- Ohio State
I'm sticking with my original pick of Salley here, the Bengals were wise to match Edwards as it would have been a huge loss for them so now they can refocus on the secondary and Salley is an upgrade over the old legs they have there now.

1.31- New England Patriots- CB Josh Lay- Pittsburgh
The Patriots are all about the future with these picks and I see them continue to get younger in the secondary. Lay gives them size and speed which is needed now that the corners are another year wiser.

1.32- New York Jets- RG Tony Palmer- Missouri
To close out round 1 the Jets get the speed G out of Mizzou, Palmer has alot to like besides his quick feet and burst off the line, he also offers 90 STR, decent AWR and adequate blocking. His football IQ will increase in this offense.
