Roster Movement: CBs on the Move
By Peter Fenger
Special to sfl-football.com

The first round of free agency has ended and in addition to the multiple team trades the changing landscape of the next SFL season continues. If you?re like me there have been so many trades it's hard to keep up. So if it can be some help, here is a list of teams with new defensive backs.

CB Terry Collins to the Cincinnati Bengals
The 31 year old veteran comes to Ohio after 2 seasons with the New York Jets. Perhaps not as quick as he once was, Collins will still be able to compete next season and the Bengals can rely on his awareness.

CB Troy Vincent, CB Chad Scott, CB Ralph Brown, CB Ike Taylor all join the Pittsburgh Steelers
An entirely new backfield in Pittsburgh! 35-year old Troy Vincent joins the team after being traded from the Minnesota Vikings. The 83 speed CB might be a good solution to switch to Safety or veteran depth. CB Chad Scott comes to Pennsylvania from the Houston Texans. Similar stats with Vincent, a taller, slower, but experienced CB joins the team. CB Ralph Brown comes from Indianapolis. He offers competitive speed, but we expect he will be used for depth. Finally CB Ike Taylor joins the Steelers from the Kansas City Chiefs. Taylor is my favorite addition to the team, as he offers good size, speed, and a lot of potential to grow with. Surrounding him with the older veterans should help balance the backfield.

CB Tory James and CB Marcus Coleman to the Minnesota Vikings
From Troy to Tory, the Minnesota Vikings exchange veterans Troy Vincent to Tory James at the CB position. Troy James joins the team from the Jacksonville Jaguars. James can offer a significant upgrade from Vincent with improvements to speed, size, and awareness. CB Marcus Coleman joins the team from Free Agency after seasons with the Texans and Giants. Coleman offers a great boost in awareness, but has lost his quickness.

CB Donne Abraham and CB Keiwan Ratliff to the Tennessee Titans
The All-Pro CornerBack joins the team from the Pittsburgh Steelers after one season. We expect the titans to put Abraham at the top of their defense to recapture his performance from his time with the New York Jets. CB Lito Sheppard comes to Tennessee from the Detroit Lions. A fantastic addition, Sheppard has both skill and awareness. His talent offers a lot of opportunity. CB Keiwan Ratliff comes to the Titans after a trade with the Washington Redskins. We expect Ratliff to be an addition for depth at the position.

CB Terrance Newman to the Denver Broncos
CB Terrance Newman lands his 3rd team after a trade from the Tennesee Titans to the Denver Broncos. The 27-year old CB offers great acceleration, he should keep up with the competition in the division and a strong skill set to develop for years.

CB Shawn Springs to the Buffalo Bills
The ex-Packer CB Shawn Springs joins the Bills in his 10th season in the SFL. The 31 year old veteran should help the team, offering speed, size and awareness to compete in that division.

CB Mario Edwards to the Green Bay Packers
With a vacancy left by Shawn Springs, Mario Edwards joins the team from the Atlanta Falcons. The 31 year old veteran can offer similar speed and size, but the Packers might be missing the awareness Springs brought to the team. We expect Edwards to be starting for the Packers in the new season.

CB Torrie Cox to the San Francisco 49ers
The tiny CB comes to the 49ers after two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. The only real skill Cox offers is speed, but lacks skills in most other areas.

CB David Macklin to the Miami Dolphins
David Macklin has packed his bags and on his way to Miami. The ex-Detroit Lion cornerback joins the consistently strong Dolphin defense. Macklin brings great speed and 90 awareness to his new team.

CB R.W. McQuarters to the Detroit Lions
If CB David Macklin left a hole, the Detroit Lions found a fantastic filler in R.W. McQuarters. The elite CB joins the team from the Tennessee Titans. Having even improved stats from the ex-Lion Macklin, we expect McQuarters to make a big impact and improve the Lions defense from last year.

CB DeAngelo Hall to the New Orlean Saints
The Saints get a great CB in DeAngelo Hall. Traded from the Miami Dolphins, the proven talents of Hall should make a great addition to the team. Playing alongside CB Brain Kelly, the Saints take a step forward in the development of their team. We expect Hall to make a strong impact next season.

CB Reynaldo Hill to the St. Louis Rams
CB Hill joins the Rams from the New Orlean Saints. Hill can offer decent speed and youth. This is a player the Rams could develop for years or could offer good depth at the position if additional talent is added. Unfortunately after being drafted in 2005, he has yet to see the field, but we expect his debut will be in a Rams uniform.

CB Travis Fisher to the Seattle Seahawks
After 4 seasons with the St. Louis Rams, Travis Fisher joins the Seattle Seahawks from free agency. Fisher offers competitive speed. We expect him to be a solid depth player.

CB Sheldon Brown to the New York Giants
The New York Giants got a surprise when Match Eligible Free Agent Sheldon Brown was signed after 4 years with the Philadelphia Eagles. The elite Cornerback joins the playoff bound Giants.

Teams with CB Needs
Atlanta Falcons
New York Jets
Houston Texans
Kansas City Chiefs
Washington Redskins
