2006 Season Predictions
By Neal Wintermute

AFC East
Jets
Patriots
Dolphins
Bills

Summary: I was on the Patriots last year and they could have easily won the Super Bowl had a couple of plays gone differently, but I like what the Jets have done this offseason. The Patriots are riding some older players plus they lost Milloy. I think both the Jets and Patriots get in, but I'm taking the Jets to win the division.

AFC North
Bengals
Browns
Ravens
Steelers

Summary: The Browns are trending up and for that matter so are the Steelers but it's still the Bengals division. The Ravens are consistent and will certainly be a factor if Blake is the QB. I think the AFC Wildcard will be a fierce fight with the Browns just losing out. I've got the Bengals and only the Bengals going through.

AFC South
Jaguars
Colts
Titans
Texans

Summary: I think this is the division that is trending down. The Titans are leading the downward trend and the Texans are in rebuild mode. The Colts could win the division as their offense is poised to rebound but I think they miss out on the wildcard battling both the Chargers and Browns. The Jags are the best team in the division and will be the only team through.

AFC West
Raiders
Chargers
Chiefs
Broncos

Summary: The Chargers and Raiders will be in a dog fight for this division. Both teams have upgraded this offseason, but in the end I give the edge to the Raiders just because their roster was a bit better going into this offseason. The Chiefs will have a tougher schedule this season and the Broncos are still in a rebuild. Both the Chargers and Raiders get through.

Playoff Teams
#1-Jets
#2-Bengals
#3-Raiders
#4-Jaguars
#5-Patriots
#6-Chargers

AFC Championship- Jets vs Raiders
AFC Champion- Jets

NFC East
Redskins
Cowboys
Giants
Eagles

Summary: The Redskins quietly have built a brick wall on defense and the Cowboys are putting together a pretty good team as well. I think the Giants and Eagles are also pretty decent so this should be a really tough division. The Cowboys just miss out on the playoffs and the Redskins are division winners.

NFC North
Lions
Vikings
Bears
Packers

Summary: The Lions made the big splash of the offseason with Brandon Marshall. This team is coming. I think they a better version of the Colts. Great offense and will just outscore teams. The Vikings are still talent wise around where they have been the last two seasons. The Bears will be tough and the division will appreciate Brett Favre being on the golf course. Lions and Vikings go through.

NFC South
Falcons
Panthers
Saints
Buccaneers

Summary: This is the easiest division to predict. The Falcons win it going away.

NFC West
Cardinals
Rams
Seahawks
49ers

Summary: Like the NFC East, all four teams are legit. The Cards are poised to be just as good as last year. The Rams are older but have another year in them and the Seahawks and 49ers are coming. The Rams just beat out the Cowboys for the last wildcard spot.

Playoff Teams
#1-Cardinals
#2-Lions
#3-Falcons
#4-Redskins
#5-Vikings
#6-Rams

NFC Championship- Cardinals vs Falcons
NFC Champion- Cardinals

Super Bowl- Jets vs Cardinals
