AFC East1.
New York Jets
2.
New England Patriots
3.
Miami Dolphins
4.
Buffalo Bills
Analysis: The
New York Jets keep on pushing and this squad has the looks of a Kevin Mullendore Super Bowl squad -- they should win the division this year. The
New England Patriots should still be very good, however, and will be in the Wild Card (and likely division) hunt. Things are a little odd for the
Miami Dolphins. They've got a good team, but I don't think they quite have the power to compete with the Jets/Patriots. Last is the
Buffalo Bills whom despite lots of good moves by their GM will likely be playing cleanup to a tough schedule.
AFC North1.
Cleveland Browns
2.
Cincinnati Bengals
3.
Baltimore Ravens
4.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Analysis: I think the
Cleveland Browns were a good team last year that suffered at the hands of a neurotic GM -- but this year, they'll surprise and win the division. The
Cincinnati Bengals are still going to be competitive and angry they didn't make the Super Bowl. After those two, the talent drops off though with the
Baltimore Ravens still finding themselves amid a rebuild. Even worse off are the
Pittsburgh Steelers whom may be aiming for the #1 overall pick.
AFC South1.
Indianapolis Colts
2.
Tennessee Titans
3.
Jacksonville Jaguars
4.
Houston Texans
Analysis: A year without a Peyton Manning playoff trip is too much for the
Indianapolis Colts and I expect them to right ship completely for this season. Behind them will be the
Tennessee Titans whom had a strong end of the 2005 campaign and should see some success again this year. The
Jacksonville Jaguars mixed some things up and I'm not quite sure if it will do the trick -- either it really will or really won't, but don't put me in the camp of "believers" for Donovan McNabb. Last, we have the
Houston Texans whom are putting together some good pieces, but aren't quite there yet.
AFC West1.
Kansas City Chiefs
2.
Oakland Raiders
3.
Denver Broncos
4.
San Diego Chargers
Analysis: It's not the trendy pick, but I actually think the
Kansas City Chiefs will win the division this year. Byron Leftwich will continue to improve and the defense and offensive line are much improved. The
Oakland Raiders are the obvious choices, however, and you shouldn't be surprised to see them being much more competitive this season. The
Denver Broncos are still figuring things out with their new GM and should be focusing on a rebuild season. In last place, we have the
San Diego Chargers, who should have won the division, but instead decided to mortgage their entire team for a top 3 pick. That's how you end up in the cellar, folks.
