NFC East1.
New York Giants
2.
Washington Redskins
3.
Philadelphia Eagles
4.
Dallas Cowboys
Analysis: People slept on the
New York Giants last year and they won the division, just like I predicted them too -- and they do it again this year! The
Washington Redskins are extremely improved, however, and I think they'll be competitive, at minimum. The
Philadelphia Eagles are in the midst of an interesting rebuild, but should be able to string together wins due to having a competent GM. As for the
Dallas Cowboys, I know there is hype, but don't buy it. Six wins may happen, but that's it.
NFC North1.
Detroit Lions
2.
Chicago Bears
3.
Minnesota Vikings
4.
Green Bay Packers
Analysis: This is going to be a very tough division and at the end of the day I expect the
Detroit Lions to come out the victor, mostly due to their impressive duo of wide receivers. I do think that the
Chicago Bears will be fairly competitive though. Look for a stellar year out of sophomore quarterback Alex Smith! It seems wrong to put the
Minnesota Vikings third, but someone has to and I like the Bears to make a bit of a surprising push this season. Not a slight on Minnesota, but props to the entire division for being tough. Last, we have the
Green Bay Packers, who look like they are in for a long haul of a poor franchise history.
NFC South1.
Atlanta Falcons
2.
Carolina Panthers
3.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4.
New Orleans Saints
Analysis: Not even I am going to pass up the no-brainer that is the
Atlanta Falcons winning their division. They need to enjoy it while it lasts, however. Behind them is where it gets interesting. GM Leonard Jones gets a lot of criticism, but this
Carolina Panthers team is still decent and should win some games. The same goes for the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but I think their upside is lower. Last is the
New Orleans Saints. They're starting David Greene and see him as the QB of the future. It makes you wonder who the GM of the future will be.
NFC West1.
Seattle Seahawks
2.
Arizona Cardinals
3.
San Francisco 49ers
4.
St. Louis Rams
Analysis: This is an extremely difficult division to call. When push comes to shove, I think that Rock Hewko's plan finally comes together and the
Seattle Seahawks save his job. But that's if he even knows that his job is jeopardy. I can't put the defending champs down too much, so they come in second. The
Arizona Cardinals got hot at the right time, but they are due for some injuries. I'm also a believer in the
San Francisco 49ers, but I think they need another season. Lastly, we have the
St. Louis Rams, who have an excellent roster -- but someone has to come in last.
