Week 3 of the 2006 SFL season is in the books! Wow, things are getting really tough to predict around here. Some teams like the Packers and Saints have defied expectations and really stepped up this season. Meanwhile media favorites like the Cardinals and Jets have struggled to find their way. As am I right now, managing just an 8-6 record last week, and bringing the total for the season to
29-17. Fortunately, there is still a lot of football to be played! So, based off nothing more than my gut feeling this evening, here is how I see week four playing out:
Arizona Cardinals 27 @
Atlanta Falcons 24
One thing about Madden...just about the time you start to write-off a good team, is the time they bounce back. This is a true gut feeling!
San Diego Chargers 33 @
Baltimore Ravens 23
Ravens are really reeling right now, and that's not a good place to be with a young quarterback under center.
Minnesota Vikings 24 @
Buffalo Bills 23
Wouldn't surprise me if the Bills pull it off again, but I think they fall just short this week against the red hot Vikings.
New Orleans Saints 33 @
Carolina Panthers 20
The Saints are running the ball, stopping the run, and creating turnovers - and will continue to surprise as they move to 3-1.
Miami Dolphins 27 @
Houston Texans 17
Rumor has it Texans' GM Garth Pearce was on the phone with Brian Griese this week and they weren't talking about yoga and grandkids.
San Francisco 49ers 24 @
Kansas City Chiefs 20
Almost picked the Chiefs here, but gut feeling says they don't begin their late-season push just yet.
Indianapolis Colts 30 @
New York Jets 28
Really wanted to pick the Jets here as I think we match up well against the Colts with their one-dimensional offense and a defense missing CB Justin Miller. But Jets just playing too poorly right now and it's probably more wishful thinking than a gut feeling.
Dallas Cowboys 34 @
Tennessee Titans 25
Two teams that are seemingly headed in opposite directions right now.
Detroit Lions 22 @
St. Louis Rams 33Nobody playing better than Rams' Defense right now. Lions really missing Marcus Stroud with league-worst run defense and have moved Brandon Marshall to the slot to try and right the ship.
New England Patriots 29 @
Cincinnati Bengals 27
Patriots get another scare this week against a very good Cincinnati team. But gut feeling is they move to 4-0 this week.
Cleveland Browns 22 @
Oakland Raiders 32The one bad thing about dominant performances like what we saw from Owens, Bledsoe, and Co last week, is that they are rarely replicated the following week. That doesn't bode well facing a very tough Raider team.
Jacksonville Jaguars 24 @
Washington Redskins 34The Jaguar Offense leads the league in both interceptions thrown and fumbles lost. Hard to string together wins losing the turnover battle each week.
Seattle Seahawks 26 @
Chicago Bears 20
Without the injuries in the secondary I have a feeling the Bears would get their first win of the season this week. They still might.
Green Bay Packers 18 @
Philadelphia Eagles 24Given their 32nd-ranked passing offense and negative turnover differential, I'm not sure how the Packers are undefeated. My gut feeling is that ends this week.
