I'm sure by the time this is done all of the picks will be traded to different teams but here is my mock for the season, good luck in the draft all accept the Texans, Titans and Colts of course!!!!
[size=24]1.1- Arizona Cardinals - WR Jordy Nelson- Kansas State If things stay the same and 1.1 stays with Apolo I think Nelson is the selection. I don't see Long making much sense with KGB/Warren already in the mix and James Hardy is the more raw of the 2 in my opinion. Nelson will add to a solid duo and give them an insane slot WR in year 1.
1.2- Kansas City Chiefs - WR James Hardy- Indiana I'm going out on the limb and saying the Chiefs will take whichever stud WR falls to them and they wouldn't mind either. It's awesome to see hardy on here (rest in paradise), his 6'5" frame is going to be a bitch for him to cover, decent hands out of the gate but his AWR is a bit low which made me believe Nelson is the top dawg.
1.3- Cleveland Browns - CB Aqib Talib- Kansas I think Chris Long makes sense but after trading away Samari Rolle it left a big hole across from Barber who's regressing as we speak. Talib is bar none the best CB in this draft class and has shutdown characteristics being tall, aware, fast, can catch and jump for contested passes.
1.4- Tennessee Titans - RB Jonathan Stewart- Oregon I'm pretty sure the target is CB Talib but in this scenario he's off the board, I wanted to go DE Long but with Burgess still signed for 2 seasons I just don't see it. Getting an impact starter is a must top 10 and Stewart makes the most sense to me.
1.5- Arizona Cardinals - RT Carl Nicks- Nebraska This would be a huge hole to fill on the cards roster, literally and figuratively. As the 6'4" 340+ pounder also boast excellent STR and comes with solid football AWR, his blocking is outstanding also.
1.6- Arizona Cardinals - LE Chris Long- Virginia He could very well go 1.3 and it would make perfect sense but he falls in my mock draft but not far. Long will sit behind KGB for a season or say screw it and just select Long to replace him, either way I think Long is the best all around player in this class.
1.7- Chicago Bears - RG Chilo Rachal- USC RG Taylor Whitley gave up the most sacks on the OL (11) and that needs to be cleaned up. I don't normally think a rookie OL is always the answer especially ones with sub 80 PBK but his 98 brute STR will make it very hard to push him around plus he has really quick feet which makes him an immediate starter.
1.8- Carolina Panthers - RT Gosder Cherilus- Boston College I'm going to assume they let Bryant McKinnie walk if Leo gets a first round tender for him, if so then Cherilus would be an immediate starter right away. I just don't see where a DE would make much sense since those positions are filled nicely already.
1.9- Kansas City Chiefs - TE Gary Barnidge- Louisville Normally I wouldn't take a TE this high but Barnidge is definitely special at his position and a real need. He's 6'6" which gives Leftwich a massive target when things break down. He is a great athlete, who can catch, JMP and block, an all around solid player for the Chiefs.
1.10- New England Patriots - QB Brian Brohm- Louisville The thought process is that the Patriots probably won't be picking this high again for awhile, why not find Brady's successor? Not many needs on this team but no backup QB.
1.11- Oakland Raiders - RT Oniel Cousins- UTEP Age and mediocre play from Sims makes the Cousins pick a real possibility. Cousins is aware, strong, agile and already an adequate blocker in both the run and pass game, he could sit and watch for a season or poach Sims' job.
1.12- Detroit Lions - LE Calais Campbell- Miami Pass rush has to be top priority here in Detroit, with the Packers, Minnesota and Bears all having legit QB's you have to push them into making mistakes. We didn't do that enough in Detroit and now were on a different team. Campell is not very strong but he is an agile beast, 6'7" and a decent tackler.
1.13- Miami Dolphins - RB Matt Forte- Tulane The Dolphins have had Portis on the block since the offseason, for what they paid I highly doubt GM Daren Roberts can be happy with barely 1,000 yards and 4 TD. I doubt he every gets the same value back but Forte looks like a stud RB in the making.
1.14- Jacksonville Jaguars - LT Jake Long- Michigan Protecting newly acquired QB Jon Kitna (PLA) is top Priority, we already have stud RT Brett Williams on the right side now Long protects his blind side. I'm all in this year and he can also block for newly acquired RB DeShaun Foster.
1.15- Baltimore Ravens - DT Red Bryant- Texas A&M I feel like I'm always picking a DT for the ravens each season but this time I think I'm right, he could anchor the interior DL with his brute STR but is also agile for a big man and comes as one of the premier tacklers of this DT class.
1.16- Indianapolis Colts - G Sam Baker- USC I think Baker would make an excellent G, he has the perfect size, he's agile, strong and a very good blocker. Keeping Manning upright in what could be his final year is imperative.
1.17- Baltimore Ravens - ILB Philip Wheeler- Georgia Tech Wheeler will eventually take over for Lewis when he retires forming a formidable duo with Scott in the not so distant future. Wheeler has the 3-4 size but lacks STR, he's a pretty solid tackler right out of the gate plus he has at least a year to groom.
1.18- Minnesota Vikings - SS Dominique Barber- Minnesota Barber stays home here in Minnesota where the Vikings got to watch him throughout his career. He is the fastest S in this draft class but not only is he fast but also comes with pretty good AWR, decent CTH, he can contest for JMP passes and is a tackling machine.
1.19- New York Jets - RG Branden Albert- Virginia Albert would make alot of sense here, he has the G frame at 6'5", he also has excellent STR with surprisingly quick feet, 1 of the more agile OL in this draft (72 AGI/72 ACC) and an adequate blocker. He looks like he could start right away.
1.20- Baltimore Ravens - SS Craig Steltz- LSU Demps seems very replaceable to me, I just don't see anything special about him, I think Steltz is an immediate upgrade which the Ravens are looking for to keep their job.
1.21- Green Bay Packers - QB Matt Ryan- Boston College I know everyone has their own version of what a franchise QB looks like but Ryan definitely should be at the top of the QB list. he's 6'4", 22 years old, even if his arm strength stays at 88 he can max at 91 which is plenty plus he already comes as the most accurate QB of this class to groom behind Delhomme for a year or 2.
1.22- Seattle Seahawks - RE Derrick Harvey- Florida I think GM Hewko would appreciate what Harvey brings to the table, a pure athlete with a solid combo of size, speed and the ability to get to both RB and QB on any given play.
1.23- Cincinnati Bengals - SS Caleb Campbell- Army I had Campbell neck and neck with Steltz so this would be a solid addition for Brady. He has the size, good enough STR, his football IQ is on par with the rest of the prospects, has speed, agility and a natural finding the play and making the necessary tackle.
1.24- Tampa Bay Buccaneers - ROLB Keith Rivers-USC Rivers would start immediately on the outside, he seems to be the most polished of this group of OLB but I'm not a real fan of this class in general. If I had to choose 1 it would be Rivers by a wide margin.
1.25- Cincinnati Bengals- - RB Darren McFadden- Arkansas The Bengals shored up the secondary with Campbell at SS now look towards the future with the selection of McFadden who traded veteran QB Jon Kitna to yours truly for this pick. McFadden will give insurance if Barber goes down with injury. He's a big back at only 20 years old and has plenty of upside including his blazing speed.
1.26- San Francisco 49ers - FS DaJuan Morgan- N.C. State Morgan can start right away for the 9ers, he provides stability at the position and is already a better all around athlete than Sammy Knight who has lost many steps at his age. Morgan has the size, speed, agility, ball hawking skills and tackling that GM's covet at the position.
1.27- Seattle Seahawks - LOLB Chris Chamberlain- LSU Although Anthony Simmons has put up respectable stat even in his advanced years at some point the position needs to be addressed and it's always better to do it a year sooner than a year too late. Chamberlain is athletic, tall, sheds tackles with ease and also a tackling machine.
1.28- Cleveland Browns - LE Cliff Avril- Purdue I see a pretty big hole here at LE, I know Tom mentioned a deal that had to do with a DE but right now I see a starter like CLiff Avril who has pure pass rushing ability and those guys are really hard to pass up this far down the draft board.
1.29- Buffalo Bills - WR Malcolm Kelly- Oklahoma Brandon has been mentioning in the forums his need for a WR, he did get 1 in David Boston but Malcolm Kelly looks like a real good prospect who they can bring along slowly if need be since he's only 21, his 6'3" frame makes him a big target, his hands are already almost elite (88 ) and his 96 JMP will make him a reliable target right from the get go.
1.30- Washington Redskins - RE Lawrence Jackson- USC If there was a spot on the roster that could use upgrading and RE stood out to me. I think Lawrence could come in and be affective right off the bat. He has a nice blend of size, strength and athletic ability and should have no problems rushing the passer or getting behind the RB for a TFL.
1.31- Tampa Bay Buccaneers - RG Daniel Dye- Ohio State Much like ROLB, RG had a glaring hole and Daniel Dye is still sitting here. He's a bit light on his feet at 280 lbs. but what he lacks in size he makes up in brute STR and such quick feet. He'll need to work on his blocking but should progress quickly as a starter.
1.32- New Orleans Saints - RG Corey Gibas- Texas A&M I have the champs taking RG Corey Gibas, he's a very athletic G who has the luxury of playing behind one of the best in Kyle Turley for a year until he can take over he will learn what it takes to be a pro in this league. Not the strongest but uses his speed and agility to keep defenders at bay, he can progress his run and pass blocking on the fly.
