Although I think every team did quite well so far, these picks stood out to me at a value standpoint or just in general. Feel free to list your favorite picks from round to round in the comments, get some chat going before the draft begins in an hour+. Also remember this is all done before the skew so I'm just going by what I see before workouts.
ROUND 1
1.4- Kansas City Chiefs- DE Chris Long- GM Justin Herr I had Chris Long as the #1 prospect in this years draft and at a premium position so to land this stud Dl at 4 is excellent value and hit's BPA. Long is the the complete player... Good size, elite athletic ability, elite strength, excellent tackle, he could easily be a pro bowler in year 1, congrats to Justin Herr coming back to the Madden Leagues and putting his stamp on this draft.
1.22- Cleveland Browns- DE Calais Campbell- GM Tom Collins I loved Calais Campbell as a prospect, his size and athletic ability are very unique and should be a terror for the AFC North to contend with. His STR was definitely a factor which is why I think he fell since he wouldn't fit a 3-4 team but even the 4-3 teams passed on him which I was surprised. I know the RE position isn't as prominent but can't you just move him to LE? I don't believe AWR is as important along the DL, excellent value and player here Tom.
1.31- Pittsburgh Steelers- RB Darren "Run DMC" McFadden- GM Tim Miller I thought Tim had an excellent draft and Mcfadden was the top RB on my board. I know some live for STR but up until yesterday I didn't even know STR was important and I've gotten by just fine, as long as the OL is decent I think most RB should at least be serviceable. McFadden has the size I like, excellent speed, top notch 2nd gear , he's one of the more aware runners in this class, his CTH is solid , he needs to work on CAR but his BTK is on par with the rest of the class. Solid pick here by Timmay!
1.32- New Orleans Saints- LT Jake Long- GM Nathan Jones The rich get richer, the Saints GM Nathan Jones just lets the chips fall where they may and he lands the best LT in the draft, it's not as prominent as RT but the position is still very important and most QB's blind side. Long has great size, his STR is what is either going to make or break this value, if he stays the same or skews up it's an absolute steal, if the STR skews down then I no longer believe it holds the same value , sub 90 STR isn't my cup of tea.
ROUND 2
2.2- Baltimore Ravens- OLB Keith Rivers- GM Norbert Huszti Keith Rivers was the top OLB on my board, I didn't workout any LB so I'm not sure if Rivers skewed down or not. ROLB is not a premium position but I think Rivers has the potential to be a top player right away. He has the size everyone covets, decent AWR, his STR is very good and can play in either scheme, an elite tackler right out of the gate and 57 CTH makes him solid in coverage as well. Excellent pick here by Norbert.
2.8- Carolina Panthers- OLB Chris Chamberlain- GM Leonard Jones Solid pick here by Leo, Chamberlain is a little bit undersized for my liking but the dude is solid all around, as long as his speed doesn't skew downward he is fat, aware, top notch STR to shed tackles and a borderline elite tackler at a premium position, heck of an addition here.
2.12- Detroit Lions- DE Cliff Avril- SM Stephan Cook Solid 1st draft for Stephan here imo with a focus on the DL, battles are won and lost in the trenches. After letting long time player James Hall go, now enters LE Cliff Avril who I thought had 1st round potential much like Harvey who went mid 1st. He has excellent SPD, ACC but his STR and TAK are sub par, his TAK will go upwards in time with work, James Hall didn't have great strength for us and he was a double digit sack guy, Avril is even more athletic so I'd like to see if the same holds true for Avril, solid pick here for GM Cook.
ROUND 3
3.3- San Diego Chargers- FS DaJuan Morgan- GM Anthony Cepparulo I had Morgan as the #1 FS on my board, I'm not sure if he skewed downward or not but to get the #1 anything here in the 3rd round is extraordinary value. Morgan is at the 6'0" where I like the S position to be or taller, he has solid athletic ability, CTH, JMP and a good tackler, seems like an all around prospect for Anthony, great pick here!
3.5- Cleveland Browns- RB Rashard Mendenhall- GM Tom Collins I probably would have glanced over this move had I not known his private workout but Mendenhall looks like yet another solid addition for Tom here in the 3rd. After the Skew and points added in TC/Activity shop (If Tom wants to) then he has as much potential as the #3 overall pick Jonathan Stewart imo, talk about value, heck of a job here.
