2008 NFC Predictions
By William Cook

NFC East

1. Philadelphia Eagles
2. New York Giants
3. Washington Redskins
4. Dallas Cowboys

Analysis: This year will signal a major changing of the guard in the NFC East. I firmly believe that the Philadelphia Eagles are primed to win the division behind veteran quarterback Drew Bledsoe. I also expect the New York Giants to vastly improve, though it might not be enough to make the playoffs. At the bottom of the division lay the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys whom I believe will suffer due to massive drops in secondary talent.

NFC North

1. Minnesota Vikings
2. Green Bay Packers
3. Chicago Bears
4. Detroit Lions

Analysis: In what could be the toughest division in the NFC, I think the Minnesota Vikings easily walk away with the division title. They would have won it last year if not for a QB injury so they have to be the odds on favorites. Behind them, I view both the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears as near-on equals in talent. Chicago has upgraded their team, but if Green Bay gets another surprise season out of Delhomme, they should be able to grab second place. In last place I expect the Detroit Lions to fall. They have a rookie GM who is still rebuilding his team, but his time will come.

NFC South

1. Atlanta Falcons
2. New Orleans Saints
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4. Carolina Panthers

Analysis: Yes, yes, I know I'm going to get a scathing text message from Nate because of "disrespect," but David Greene is still unproven. I think the Atlanta Falcons are a slightly better team that the defending champion New Orleans Saints, but only barely. They are the two obvious contenders in the division. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are depending on Marc Bulger for six wins. In last place is the Carolina Panthers who need to prove they can be patient before they rank higher -- benching young studs in week 12 in the middle of a division race tells me they're not ready to win.

NFC West

1. Seattle Seahawks
2. St. Louis Rams
3. Arizona Cardinals
4. San Francisco 49ers

Analysis: This is a very tough division to analyze. The Seattle Seahawks have the most raw talent, but the worst QB in the division, though I don't think that matters to Rock. I do think the St. Louis Rams will be markedly improved as long as their team decides not to frequent local hospitals. The Arizona Cardinals will very quickly miss the presence of Carson Palmer and Alfred Fincher as they realize Champ Bailey is nearing regression. Lastly, we have the San Francisco 49ers. I don't have anything bad to say about them. This is a favor to Peter. You're welcome. :)
