We’re past the middle of the season and I think is a perfect moment to say something positive about each team at the present and the future, everything was done being neutral and trying to offer an article with good content and that is enjoyable to read. Buffalo Bills
Why the team should be happy now?
Even with a 2-7 record the team have played really well and that just show how good the roster really is, develop a rookie is not easy and this kind of season was expected after trade mcnair but how well the rest of the team have played should be more than enough for be happy
Why fans should be happy about the future? When David booty progress the bills should be back in the sb contenders list, and fans should be happy about how GM Brandon Lingren is thinking in the future long run, a bit of bitter season in exchange for multiple sweet seasons. The buffalo bills are in great hands.
New York Jets
Why the team should be happy now? How not be excited after turn around a 0-2 season start and win 7 straight games and counting, with every line of the game playing great football is hard to not see Jets in playoffs and why not name them sb contenders. QB Plummer playing as one of the best QB of the league and their defense raising the hand in the important moments while they keep being a good rush team.
Why fans should be happy about the future? See some old faces on the team may worry some fans but GM Kevin Mullendore should be able to bring fresh talent, last year drafted QB Plummer Succesor so we shouldn’t be expecting a drastic fall down when he retires, and the strength in the other lines should be more than enough for keep the team winning in the next years.
New England Patriots
Why the team should be happy now? They’ve survived 3 GM office changes this season, but they finally have their leader at Briston Redford, and his debut have been really good keeping the team tied in first place on the hardest division of the league. Brady playing as the kind of player he is, and Brandon Jacobs been a great replacement for the Patriots legend Musa Smith. Patriots should be definetily a playoffs team.
Why fans should be happy about the future? This one could be very short and say: Tom Brady still have some years on tank, that’s enough but that’s not all. The patriots have very interesting players at both sides of the ball, 2 1st round picks and based on how Briston have done so far, a good offseason should be coming.
Miami Dolphins
Why the team should be happy now? Picture this, you traded your veteran qb and start a younger qb for develop at week 2 suffers a season ending injury, logic says you’re on the race for #1 pick. Instead dolphins are the #1 team of AFC and leading the hardest division of the league, QB Whitehurst have been good enough for win games with a team group effort. Football is a team sport and dolphins are one of the best teams.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Go back to last comment, give this team a pair of seasons to develop a QB or maybe GM office bring a veteran QB. This team is extremely talent at both sides of the ball, have the best WR duo of the league, pass rush, secondary. They are contenders this season and while time advance they’ll be a nightmare for the league. Stonks
Baltimore Ravens
Why the team should be happy now? They’re half the way to keep GM Norbert Huszti ahead of the team, and right now need to win 3 of 7 games. No one wish injuries, but on this moment what can be better than see Bengals, divisional rival and opponent in 1 of those 7 games. Tearing apart with injuries, and not just that, ravens recovered QB Thigpen and he shoud be able to lead the team to 3 more wins and keep GM Norbert on the driver seat.
Why fans should be happy about the future? This season is probably the hardest of the team transition between win the super bowl and rebuild for the future, a fantastic draft of Dwayne Jarrett and Tyler Thigpen should be enough, but last draft they also added quality I multiple positions, specially those that protect QB. Ravens like the draft, Ravens know how to draft and Ravens going to win based on drafted players
Cincinnati Bengals
Why the team should be happy now? This one at this particularly week is going to be one of the hardest to write up, hard to lose QB and CB at same week. But if you look at the bright side Bengals are a team, just as said above about Dolphins, Bengals are a team that win with an effort of all their players and that’s exactly what you need when your QB go down. Defense and rush game, if they pull off some wins could make playoffs and there anyone can take it all.
Why fans should be happy about the future? The franchise have raised the hand as one of the best defense units of the league, GM Brady Tinnin loves to invest there and that’ll pay off. While other teams focus on offense, Bengals have built at defense and when a game is close it is what matters, here I’ll use the old quote we all know about: Defenses win championships.
Cleveland Browns
Why the team should be happy now? They’re in the top of the division, the team that was fighting with them just lost QB and CB, and the rest of the division trying to avoid hot seat. So Browns looks as a virtual AFC North champions, GM Tom Collins now have 7 wins for try and improve the team and find the best lineups/gameplans thinking in playoffs and if someone know how to do it, it’s him.
Why fans should be happy about the future? In a league where the standard cost for franchise qb have become 3 1st + something, the Browns have Philip Rivers who should be the face of the team for multiple years, with the most important position covered, Browns doesn’t have the pressure to make splash moves and can build smart around an already good team.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Why the team should be happy now? There’s a new QB in town and he comes with one mission: To keep GM Tim Miller on the driver seat, is not an easy task, but steelers have good weapons and now they have a leader. 4 of 7 games is still possible and more if we remember last season when Steelers had one of the best season endings.
Why fans should be happy about the future? The last 2 drafts have been huge by Steelers bringing the trinity at offense: Martell – Nelson – DMC , in few season they’ll dominate defenses, and fans should be relax because have endured hard times but bright times should come soon mainly if players support current GM and win 4 games.
Houston Texans
Why the team should be happy now? They’re leading a division where all the teams are over .500 that’s enough statement of how good Texans are. With one of the best if not the best OL, a QB smart and precise an stud hb, and with solid wide receiver Texans offense is amazing. And defense have raised the hand in important moments, both their division and AFC wildcard will be hard but they’re a team that should be in playoffs.
Why fans should be happy about the future? The Texans have been a win now team for the last few years and while that could make some fans have doubts about the future, in my perspective this just show the talent GM Wade Pearce has to build around ready for win players, and as he stays ahead of the team Texans will always should be on contenders talks.
Indianapolis Colts
Why the team should be happy now? They just packaged QB Peyton Manning, but they also got QB Drew Bledsoe for this season, nothing have changed for this season as Colts remain on the hard fight for the AFC South. Won’t be easy but the Colts is a team no one should sleep on, not even after last trade.
Why fans should be happy about the future? 5 1st rounds picks and couple of past good drafts including the selection of HB Tony Hunt tell you how GM Ian Coyle working hard for the future of the franchise, and as Bellichick said once, better to sell 1 year earlier than 1 year later. And that’s exactly the right move Colts move, Indianapolis fans should be excited about the future.
Teeneesee Titans
Why the team should be happy now? Eli Manning have been exactly what Titans was expecting from him during offseason, coming from offense #1 last season and drew Bledsoe maybe the impact haven’t been noticed but they’re as dangerous as they were last year with the plus of not getting much attention/pressure and that’s amazing.
Why fans should be happy about the future? The same man mentioned above is the reason fans should be confident about the franchise future, have a franchise QB as Eli going to allow GM Gary Cohen to make moves in both sides of the ball without the pressure to fill the most important position, if you think in retrospective this worth every penny they paid for him.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Why the team should be happy now? They shocked the league when announced the acquisition of QB Kitna for 1 year, but it make sense when you think about to win. GM Brad Barber knew his team has solid pieces for think in playoffs and why not in superbowl, so he made an strong move that have them fighting for it.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Completely opposite than what said above, at same offseason as team acquired Kitna also acquired their successor, team probably going to have a pair of hard seasons. But their roster is deep with key players all around and it wouldn’t be crazy to think Jaguars will be able to win with a sophomore QB and team work. After it everything should be better and better.
Denver Broncos
Why the team should be happy now? The team is great, the team is playing very well and I have no doubt they’ll be able to pull the 6 wins required to keep GM Olivier ahead the team. Broncos have special players at the important positions, talent of those called Blue Chips and those kind of players are the ones that generate wins.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Exactly the same reason mentioned above the Denver Broncos are extremely talented as their GM office have made the right moves in the last offseasons, I find really hard not to think on this team as one of the teams called to dominate the next years.
Kansas City Chiefs
Why the team should be happy now? Even with a hard season start they’ve won multiple games recently and are just 1 game away from division leader, and no matter what happens Chiefs are in a win – win situation, either they make the playoffs or they get a better draft pick for GM Justin Herr keep his rebuild process, and if we learned something from last offseason is that he knows how to draft.
Why fans should be happy about the future? The amazing offseason displayed is a sign of great things coming for the chiefs, if they keep doing it soon they’ll be a truly dangerous team. Give them few seasons to see the results but fans should be excited about their new GM office.
San Diego Chargers
Why the team should be happy now? Another one that is a bit hard as they having a superbowl hangover and they traded his 1st round pick. The good news are while season advance and some doors close, QB Quinn will have less pressure and that’ll help him to progress thinking in next season.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Brady Quinn for the win, how many QB rookies can say they made the superbowl? In NFL = none, in SFL just 1 and that’s Quinn. As chargers have him they’ll always been in contenders list, this year hangover should be over by next year and from bad things comes good things, now GM Anthony Cepparulo know exactly what to improve to help his team.
Oakland Raiders
Why the team should be happy now? They leading their division and Rookie HB Matt Forte is killing it! Raiders hit a homerun drafting + giving the confidence to Forte and he have pay off, let’s not forget this team was in SB just 2 seasons ago, and they have one of the best QB + the rush game, and even if their defense had some hard games, overall they’ve played really well. The recent loses could be considered good if you think have taken pressure from a team that started the season as a top 3, as long as they make the playoffs have good chances of SB.
Why fans should be happy about the future? When you have a potential rookie of the year on your team it means front office doing a great job recruiting talent, overall the raiders team is solid at all lines and if they keep refreshing positions as they’ve been doing Oakland fans should know their team is a solid contender.
Dallas Cowboys
Why the team should be happy now? The team is winning, and after a hard start they’re 1 win away of the .500, their schedule doesn’t look as complicated as the first half and their team playing better as season advance. This is a marathon and after start slow here comes the Cowboys, and save this words if Cowboys make the playoffs they’ll be more dangerous than they were last year when were #1 team of the league.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Finally after multiple years of suffering the Cowboys have an amazing well coached team, in a very hard division they’ll raise the hand as favorite for the years to come. GM William Cook have found the recipe of succed drafting very well in 2nd round and managing really well 1st round picks in trades or smart grabs. Financially this team will be strong and that means powerful FA offseasons. Cowboys are a good combination of veterans and young players.
NY Giants
Why the team should be happy now? I find it almost impossible to find another 1-7 historically better than this Giants, they have the team and they play well they’ve just been unlucky. For GM Romeo Mendez the 6 games may look hard now as they need to win 5 of 7 games, but is still possible. Giants lost 5 games by less of 1 possession that’s exactly what they need know, and being optimist they’ve already being on the bad luck side, why they couldn’t close with good luck?
Why fans should be happy about the future? Whatever happen in the future the Giants have key players at key positions starting with Matt Schaub, probably one of the most underrated quarterbacks of the league, but he’s real and sooner than later he’ll show it. As all the other divisional teams grab the league attention the giants have the tools for eventually raise and create multiple problems for their opponents
Philadelphia Eagles
Why the team should be happy now? Ok I’ll try something new here; lets talk about them without mention the obvious. HB Daron Payne have been a revelation, OL playing really well and added to their usually dangerous duo of Mann – Olinger they grabbed an stud TE last draft at Barnidge. Defense haven’t been as dominant as they want but in big part is cause their offense score multiple points. Eagles are in good position for make the playoffs as wildcard or as division champions. Oh yeah and they acquired QB Peyton Manning.
Why fans should be happy about the future? GM Breck have found the recipe between veterans and young players and that’s the winners recipe. Fans should sleep well knowing their front office is very good and they know how to keep the Eagles being relevant for now and years to come.
Washington Redskins
Why the team should be happy now? Another year where GM Bryan Mellon (Insert eggplant + watermelon emojis) manage to grab game changers players that turn redskins in sb contenders. They currently leading one hard division and they playing good football. Musa starting to explode his potential and combination QB Palmer + WR Owens have been extremely prolific, defense side of the ball is a guarantee and OL paying well for run and pass. Redskins are a team no one would like to see on his schedule.
Why fans should be happy about the future? How could you be optimistic when your team never drafts in 1st round, and always acquire veterans? In what moment the team will turn into ashes of old players? The answer is easy when GM Mellon is not ahead of the team, in the opinion of this editor there’s no better GM at the moment of build a team thinking in win 1 season, and he seems to find a way to do it over and over. Yes you don’t see ton of draft picks at this franchise but their way to build already gave them 2 SB and if they keep doing it more could come.
Chicago Bears
Why the team should be happy now? They made huge improvements in the offseason bringing a top veteran QB as Hasselbeck and that have them fighting for the division or wildcard spot. The team is very solid at defense specially at secondary, and bears offense is very well balanced with cobbs + hasselbeck and good wr core. When the biggest question about your team is the division where you play it means the front office doing a good job
Why fans should be happy about the future? As they brought Hasselbeck they also drafted the future face of the franchise at Ainge, the team is working both in present and future and that’s something that fans should appreciate. Bears secondary is one of the best and it’s young so that’s something huge that make me think the team will keep as contenders for multiple seasons.
Detroit Lions
Why the team should be happy now? In a gray scenario is hard to find the colors, but Lions roster talent is better than that 2-7 record, and have multiple interesting players at different lines of the game. Seems extremely complicated to make playoffs but while on the race for a top pick, the Lions have 7 games where GM Stephan cook can learn more about the game and find schemes that fits the Lions thinking in next season.
Why fans should be happy about the future? When things goes wrong there’s something good and it’s from there thing cannot get worse, so from here the Lions going to rebound and start to build according the ideas and likes of their new GM, with 2 1st round picks Lions have the enough ammo for bring multiple talent to add to their current one. If they can manage the QB position Lions are a team that can play head to head with the big teams of the North.
Green Bay Packers
Why the team should be happy now? Adrian Peterson is the man, he’s leading the league in rush yards and is one of the reasons the Packers are in playoffs spots right now, if you add a beast season by Jaqua Parker at defense the cheese heads are a team that should not only be considered playoffs contender, but superbowl, more if we go back to the past and check the recipe of champions: Rush offense + defense and the packers have the best rush attack, but at same time is complete at other aspects of the game.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Matt Ryan haven’t play a snap yet but he seems to be the long term answer in green bay. He’ll get all the help he needs with Adrian Peterson and the team support. Some may think some rough years coming for the Packers but there’s an optimistic scenario where they’ll get able to keep being a playoffs team in the years to come.
Minnesota Vikings
Why the team should be happy now? The Vikings should be considered as one of the top contenders for the title, if want to dimension how good this team is should go back to last year and remember how they were able to grab wins with QB Culpepper out, now that he’s back this team is extremely dangerous. Well balanced in all the lines and with some really top players as WR Moss that as good wine he’s old but still really good. A team that combine young players with top veterans, no one will and no one should sleep on them.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Already mentioned how good this team is, if you add their front office commanded by GM Neal Wintermute is extremely sharp and smart during offseason adding quality FA and with perfect management of draft capital, as a Vikings fan you can only expect a title coming soon, if not this season the Lombardi and the Vikings are destiny to be together.
Atlanta Falcons
Why the team should be happy now? A series of unfortunately events as QB Couch injuried and the advantadge Saints have at the division make hard to think falcons have playoffs chances this year, but im sure GM Nic St.Marie won’t waste time and will use the last 7 games of the season for find gameplans and lineups that fits the team thinking in the next year.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Rebuild is an strong word but I believe that’s the apropiate word to describe whats happening in Atlanta, after multiple years with a different GM, Nic St. Marie took over a team that has talent but that saw his best players retire as green, and others regressing as TE Gonzalez. They focusing in progress some of the raw studs and adding new talent via draft/offseason. So if you’re a falcons fan should be confident once the rebuild is over this team going to compete strong.
Carolina Panthers
Why the team should be happy now? The panthers are the David of SFL, constantly an underdog that display the best of them when under pressure against opponents considered favorites, if wasn’t by some bad luck at first game panthers should be 5-4, just beat back to back teams that currently leading divisions and did it in 2 different ways first with an incredible defense performance and then with an strong offense. If they manage to be more consistent Panthers are a dangerous team.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Is not a secret their GM is constantly criticized by his decisions, but look like that have become his strength. Following their own way to build they’ve proved wrong the league multiple times. If the team keep doing what they consider is the best even if not the most popular decisions, panthers going to be a team with a bright future.
New Orleans Saints
Why the team should be happy now? They’re the SFL Champions and currently ranked as team #1 I can’t imagine a better scenario than that, their defense have been extremely dominant with good rush defense and a solid pass defense that allow a very low QBR. Their offense is not as explosive as they would want but the truth is they don’t need it, they’ve played the best football so far and playing it as a team, so it’s harder an injury hurt them as they trust in balance. They could become the first team to win back to back champions and no one would be truly surprised.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Here is hard to add something, other than by how Saints office manage their team leaded by GM Nathan Jones they’ll keep being a good team for multiple years, every time with players more progressed. Are we seeing a dynasty here? It could be, only time will tell.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Why the team should be happy now? All the decisions and moves they’ve done paying off and they are improving a lot. GM Bill Ryan is just 2 games away from avoid the hot seat and by how the team playing there’s ton of chances of this to happen soon. As playoffs still looks very complicated the main goal of the season was to avoid a GM change and they’re near to make it happen.
Why fans should be happy about the future? With a lot more of confidence after this season I can see Bill doing more aggressive movements for bring more talent to the team and from here the team should go up and think in fight for the division against the current champions, doesn’t sound easy but hard things are the funnier to accomplish and this ship has a captain.
St. Louis Rams
Why the team should be happy now? The rams definetily are better than their record shows, in big part because this season the NFC West have a complicated schedule, but as that plays out against them also affect the rest of division. So if rams wins games is very possible the rest of division lose games and eventually they have a good shot for win the division. This week is a crucial game but trust in brees and everything should be fine.
Why fans should be happy about the future? This going to sound similar to what wrote about Redskins and in part is because both teams have a similar philosophy they priorize in the win now mode, and as that usually end with the team in rebuilding as said with the Washington team that won’t happen in St.Louis because their GM Justin Walstead clearly know what he’s doing. Drew Bress = Security at the position and with him Rams always going to be a contender.
San Francisco 49ers
Why the team should be happy now? The same said about rams, the NFC West is very open to anyone and that should motivate the 49ers with a very important game this week. QB Orton could be considered almost elite and he has amazing weapons to play with. The 49ers have some young players but they play quality football.
Why fans should be happy about the future? The answer to this question has a name, Kyle Orton he’s the next Montana for the gold team. Next season he should be considered into the group of elite talent at the position with only 4 yrs pro, that’s an amazing player to have and guarantee the 49ers future, but it’s not only him, in the recent offseasons GM Peter Fenger have managed to draft special talent as HB Jackson and WR Rice, maybe they’re not as polished as he would want but with patience they’re truly gems. Diamond hands there.
Seattle Seahawks
Why the team should be happy now? Copy and Paste the said for the other 2 teams, the division is completely open and seahawks have a bonus, they have a great opportunity to take advantage in direct duel for the division with a win this week, the transition between Hasselbeck and Smith have been a bit complicated but they have talent enough in all lines for support Smith specially the best friend of a QB the HB. Alexander will be an incredible support to him and if seahawks stablish their run games they’re a playoffs team.
Why fans should be happy about the future? GM Rock Hewko is a man that is not looking for others approval, he has his own ideas and that’s exactly why Seahawks fans should be happy. Rock has a plan, has the resources the knowledge and he knows what he’s doing the moment he moves his piece not only the NFC West will be in serious problems, but the NFC and the whole league.
Arizona Cardinals
Before write about them should say im just an editor paid by this team, as I would like to leave this empty I was asked to say some words without being bias.
Why the team should be happy now? Currently leading the division and have 2 games of adventadge with a win this week guarantee 2.5 adventadge with only 6 games to play. The secondary could and should be considered the best of the league, and combined with a front 7 that is stopping the run and forcing sacks the defense is how Cardinals could be contenders. The offense haven’t been the same since WR meachem injury and having multiple young players makes the team inconsistent, but still could be a dangerous team at playoffs.
Why fans should be happy about the future? Is not a secret the team has 7 1st round picks for the next draft and that’s probably a record, but the answer of why Arizona fans should be happy is because their GM LOVES to build thinking in the future, if some young players develop as expected and can keep the salary under control the Cardinals will be contenders for multiple years.
