By Brad Barber
Special to sfl-football.com

Sorry all I have no clue how to put pictures on here anymore or even change the font size, I know what a noob but here is my Mock.... feel free to tell me who you're taking if I got it wrong!

2009 SFL MOCK DRAFT VERSION 2ND AND ONLY

1.1- Minnesota Vikings- CB Sean Smith- Utah (Previous Pick: CB Sean Smith)
This pick doesn't change, CB Sean Smith was basically the player most coveted at the top of the draft and I have no doubts will be the player selected later today. Neal pairs an awesome , young group of corners together to make this defense even harder to throw on.

1.2- Kansas City Chiefs- ILB James Laurinaitis- Ohio State (Previous Pick:CB Derek Cox)
The Chiefs have stated they're taking ILB James Laurinaitis and unless someone spends a kings ransom to move the Vikes out of 1.1 then I have every reason to believe them. Like I said, he has DROTY written all over him.

1.3- Buffalo Bills- DL Terrance Knighton- Temple (Previous Pick: ILB James Laurinaitis)
Brandon goes DL Knighton here and I put DL because they already have veterans Redding/Robbins with former 3rd rounder Mebane backing them up so maybe throw him in at RE since he has all the athletic attributes to play the position and could be pretty dominant there until the older vets retire at DT then slide him over, Knighton's versatile so you can put him anywhere along the DL.

1.4- Seattle Seahawks- LOLB Clint Sintim- Virginia (Previous Pick: OLB Clint Sintim
This pick stays the same but Rock always throws us for a loop when we think he's going to take this position of need he zigs and zags and takes something totally different like RB Jonathan Stewart. Sintim is a pure athlete at a position of need, maybe they were hoping for Knighton to fall.

1.5- Houston Texans- CB Derek Cox- William & Mary (Previous Pick:CB Keenan Lewis)
This makes me completely ill that a player of Cox's caliber falls all the way down to a division rival. I had CB Sean Smith only a hair better than Cox due to Smith's 2 inch height differential so the Texans get quite a player here.

1.6- Dallas Cowboys- TE Jared Cook- South Carolina (Previous Pick: DT Terrance Knighton)
They swung and missed on TE John Kuhn in FA and they are trying to trade veteran TE Alge Crumpler which to me says they either traded for a TE or they are drafting 1, Jared Cook is of the same mold as last years phenom Gary Barnidge and it's awesome to see more TE's in the top 10, Cook is every bit as good as Barnidge and he shares the same last name as the GM I mean is it a match made in heaven or what?

1.7- Indianapolis Colts- CB Vontae Davis- Illinois (CB Kevin Barnes)
The position stays the same but the more I look at CB Vontae Davis the more I like and he looks very similar to current stud Colts corner Justin Miller. Maybe not the tallest group but they have everything else.

1.8- Indianapolis Colts- QB Mark Sanchez- USC (Previous Pick:QB Mark Sanchez)
The Colts have the activity points to switch his scrambler tendencies and I think he's the 1st QB off the board. We'll be seeing that freaky looking bandana wearer in our division hopefully butt fumbling right to our defense but all that aside it makes alot of sense for the Colts and unless they go after and win Matt Hasselbach then I think this has to be the selection for them.

1.9- Detroit Lions- WR Michael Crabtree- Texas Tech
GM Scott Gardner's 1st ever SFL draft is a big one that will probably define his future in Detroit so he needs to swing and not miss. To me WR Michael Crabtree is the safest WR in this class and a solid future #1 with excellent hands, good SPD and excellent run after catch.

1.10- Arizona Cardinals- RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (Previous Pick: TE Jared Cook)
I know the Cards addressed the RB position with Edgerrin James but that's for the now but there is no future RB in place. Wells can sit a year or 2 behind James and spot start in year 1. I like Wells' blend of size/SPD and the fact that he can bowl you right over. The Cards haven't had a bruiser like this since Steven Jackson.

1.11- Detroit Lions- CB Kevin Barnes- Maryland (Previous Pick: CB Vontae Davis)
Kevin Barnes looks a solid choice here, I like Sherrod martin but his 47 AWR might scare off a bunch of GM's. Barnes is a solid all around CB with size, SPD, he'll need to work on some things but with a pair of veterans in front of him he can learn and play as the NCB in year 1 still contributing but not relied upon every play.

1.12- Arizona Cardinals- ILB Tyrone McKenzie- USF (Previous Pick: RB Chris "Beanie" Wells)
The Cards are 1M+ in the hole with a bevy of first rounders to sign when it's all said and done so I full expect ILB Jeremiah Trotter to be a cap casualty especially after missing out on ILB Ruud in FA. He will pair nicely with Pierce who offer different skill sets.

1.13- Baltimore Ravens- CB Keenan Lewis- Oregon State (Previous Pick: ILB Scott McKillop)
The Ravens picked up a few corners in FA but I don't think they're done, Lewis to me looks like a starting caliber corner who can play opposite Maxey. His 54 AWR although better than most will frustrate Norbert sometimes much like myself and Tramon Williams last season but it's the growing pains with rookies that you have to endure. Other than JMP which some GM's couldn't care less about he's an overall safe corner in this draft class imo.

1.14- Baltimore Ravens- LE Larry English- Northern Illinois (Previous Pick: NT B.J. Raji)
If the Ravens truly are transitioning to the 4-3 then Suggs makes no sense being the LE as he offers no true pass rushing ability. Larry English would be the perfect fit here as a natural pass rusher. He'll have to work on the TAK and AWR but other than that he looks like a double digit sack prospect right out of the gate.

1.15- New Orleans Saints- SS Patrick Chung- Oregon (Previous Pick: SS Patrick Chung)
The Saints don't have to many glaring weakness' but I do see an opening at SS and Patrick Chung at least in my opinion is the best SS in this class. He lacks in height but is athletic, will contest for jump balls, he's a tacklng machine and rarely gets injured but will have to work on his CTH.

1.16- Cleveland Browns- CB Malcolm Jenkins- Ohio State (Previous Pick: CB Malcolm Jenkins)
The Browns traded away 1 veteran corner and waived the other so I think Malcolm Jenkins comes in right away and takes 1 of the open spots. He has the size, AWR, adequate SPD and he doesn't get injured. This is a CB heavy draft and Jenkins has mid first round talent depending on skew.

1.17- Cincinnati Bengals- OG Andy Levitre- Oregon State (Previous Pick: LE Larry English)
I see a slight chink in the Bengals armor as the RG situation seems to be up in the air and you have one of the most talented OG prospects I've seen in quite some time in Levitre. He could be switched to RG or bump Larry Turner over there.

1.18- Chicago Bears- ROLB Marcus Freeman- Ohio State (Previous Pick: RB Shonn Greene)
I think he and Clay Matthews are neck and neck but I liked the STR of Freeman more which I believe makes a difference. The Bears don't have many needs at all but there could be an opening here at ROLB since the current doesn't have any starts under his belt.

1.19- Detroit Lions- QB Matthew Stafford- Georgia (Previous Pick: DL Sen'Derrick Marks)
This will be the Lions last pick in the first round who have already made some really nice picks but now they land future QB. No need to mortgage the future with Sanchez and even if some GM sneaks in and steals Stafford there is another QB who is neck and neck with Stafford IMO. I went with Matthew because he's only 21 years old which makes a huge difference, he can spot start year 1 to get that AWR up.

1.20- Arizona Cardinals- RT Phil Loadholt- Oklahoma (Previous Pick: ILB Robert Henson)
Brett Williams is a stud at RT but he's 29 with a big contract on a team that will have to pay the next crop of 100 rookies next offseason. Loadholt is a massive prospect at 6'8" 340+ lbs. with an all around good skill set and will eventually be able to plug and play once they decide to move on from Williams.

1.21- Washington Redskins DE Tyson Jackson- LSU (Previous Pick: OT Phil Loadholt)
Jackson isn't the most athletic prospect to ever come out but in a 3-4 he offers a solid all around player with a blend of athleticism and power which is rare because it's usually 1 or the other. My guess is that Marks is the NT, Spears transitions to LE and Jackson at RE. That is the making of one heck of a DL.

1.22- New England Patriots- OC Alex Mack- California (Previous Pick: OT Eugene Monroe)
The Patriots have an excellent veteran roster but they need to start thinking future and the OL is a great start. C Damien Woody is in the last year of his deal and 32 years old so let's start there and fix that with imo the best complete C in this draft class in Mack. He's athletic, strong and already an above average possibly elite blocker in both phases, QB Tom Brady approves.

1.23- Arizona Cardinals- LE David Veikune- Hawaii (Previous Pick: OC Alex Mack)
The Cards just keep plugging holes and this time there is a vacancy behind Ty Warren. I don't know what scheme the Cards play but at some point KGB was the starter and was only 250+ lbs. so Veikune could be a nice replacement down the road.

1.24- Cleveland Browns- OC Antoine Caldwell- Alabama (Previous Pick: OC Antoine Caldwell)
Back to back centers but this time I think Tom Collins tries his luck with that 95 AWR/** PBK while his 96 STR will make him very difficult to push him off the line just don't ever run up the middle for any reasoning.

1.25- Indianapolis Colts- WR Ramses Barden- Cal Poly (Previous Pick: RE Robert Ayers)
A giant target for newly drafted QB Mark Sanchez to throw to, whether that's at slot WR or on the outside he'll be a matchup nightmare to cover in our division again no less.

1.26- Washington Redskins- DT Sen'Derrick Marks- Auburn (Previous Pick: CB Brandon Underwood)
Marks just seems like a Bryan pick to me, he's versatile to play anywhere along the DL where there are openings available and with the drafting of DE Tyson Jackson above they have rebuilt the entire DL.

1.27- Oakland Raiders- LOLB Brian Cushing- USC (Previous Pick: ILB Tyrone McKenzie)
This may be a stretch having Cushing fall all the way down to 1.27 but I just didn't see a great spot until now. I'm sure the Raiders would be ecstatic with Cushing as he's just a notch below Sintim.

1.28- Indianapolis Colts- ILB Jason Phillips- TCU (Previous Pick: ILB Jason Phillips)
At this point the Colts are just filling roster spots but they're doing it with very good football players. Phillips is very similar to McKenzie above but not as strong, the athletic attributes are there and you can't teach those.

1.29- Miami Dolphins- RT Troy Kropog- Tulane (Previous Pick: RT Troy Kropog)
There's a need at RT and Kropog is still available, he's a tall guy, athletic, strong and comes with almost elite blocking on both sides of the ball which has to be a plus for anyone drafting him, I'd say he's plug and play right away with 61 AWR.

1.30- Indianapolis Colts- OL Andre Smith- Alabama (Previous Pick: OL Andre Smith)
I'd say Smith will be moved to RG where there is a roster spot behind Diem who's getting older. He can wait in the wings and learn under Diem, Smith is a road grader at 6'4" 335 lbs., strong as a brama bull, not as athletic as the guys listed above which is why I have him at RG where I think he'd be a perfect fit.

1.31- Minnesota Vikings- ROLB Clay Matthews- USC (Previous Pick: ROLB Clay Matthews)
Again I don't know if Matthews has a shot falling this far down on name recognition alone but the position isn't as sought after so in this mock he falls down to the SB runner ups who have a need there as Peek is getting old in the tooth. Matthews has a nice blend of size, speed, he can cover and already displays good tackling.

1.32- Tennessee Titans- OL Jamon Meredith- South Carolina (Previous Pick: OL Jamon Meredith)
I have Meredith landing here with the Titans as the RG, he's very athletic, unbelievable STR and above average blocking but will have to get his AWR up and fast especially if he comes in and starts right away.
