Welcome to another League Article sponsored by the friendly red birds of the desert, on this one we’re going to talk about those players that fly under the radar but that could be the “X factor” for each team on 2009 season. I’ll mention some players of 2008 as example so we can have a clear idea: HB Brandon Jacobs of patriots, LE Jaquan Parker from Packers, WR Travis Taylor from Rams. All of them had a wonderful season but probably not many of us was expecting that kind of production. With that said, lets start!
Buffalo Bills – WR Jhonny Morant
For start this article Bills are a very hard team to predict, they had the talent enough for win back to back one of the hardest divisions of the league. In fact I believe their defense is one of the best of the league, so picking a defensive player here would be hard as they all have performance really well on the past. The offense is where all the doubts are, specially with a sophomore QB that broke all the records in interceptions, but I believe there’s the answer too. David booty is not afraid of throw the ball, he needs to do it better but still he pass a lot. Who’s going to get more of those targets? WR Johnny Morant a new Bills player acquired via trade with Vikings and that im sure GM Brandon Lindgren want him to performance as a top WR and make him forget he could’ve potentially pick CB Smith 1.1
Miami Dolphins – LE Jay Moore
Ok, I know he was a top 10 pick just 2 seasons ago, and that he has all the attributes for dominate. So why im picking him as an X factor? I believe the other player from that draft class 6”5 WR that make all the Gm’s of the league salivate, grab all the attention. I won’t say Moore numbers are bad, specially for a rookie – sophomore seasons. But I believe he hasn’t earn that QB hunter role, that make you worry when game-planning against dolphins. The fact he was on the block early this offseason confirms he’s not producing the numbers GM Daren Roberts was expecting, but my prediction is that change this year, dolphins going to be extremely happy he stayed on the team, Jay earn a 7 years extension and become one of the most dominant DL of the league.
New England Patriots – WR Clarence Moore
Another Moore here, is this the Moore year on AFC East? Definitely. The Patriots have lived a revolution and have seen 3 different GM in a short spawn of time, but GM Briston Redford is here for stay and I believe this season we’ll finally find out his game style. Patriots added one of the best HB’s of the league with Ladanian Tomlinson, they come from a dream season from Brandon Jacobs but there’s no guarantee he was going to repeat it, and bring a more complete halfback makes this already dangerous offense into one even more dangerous. Im a truly believe every time you add talent somewhere, another player gets benified. That player going to be Clerence Moore.
He’s a 6”6 perfect redzone target, thrown by a top QB, and in an offense that going to move the ball all the way down on the field. Im not sure he’s going to lead in yards, but I believe he could lead the league on Touchdowns.
New York Jets – FS Aaron Rouse
Can I mention all the team? Well because I feel that’s what happened last season. If you look at the Jets, they dominated all the stats as a team, but not individually. That tell you all the players did their job, so all of them were an X-Factor. But i need to pick one name and I’m choosing a Safety, yes, a safety. I know multiple people undervalue them but at impressive 6”4 body frame and a very respectable 88 speed with 70 awr. I think this is the season when Aaron Rouse raises the hand and claim himself as one of the best safeties of the league, are stats going to reflect this? Probably no. In my opinion there’s some position where stats are cruel and it’s hard to reflect the real impact of a player, but if someone watch Jets games, try to follow jersey #24. Good things going to happen there.
