AFC East
1.
New York Jets
2.
New England Patriots
3.
Miami Dolphins
4.
Buffalo Bills
Analysis: I'd be stupid to not pick the
New York Jets to win this division. They brought back the majority of their Super Bowl winning roster. The
New England Patriots also made some solid moves and new GM Briston Redford seems to know the strategy he is pushing for. I'm expecting a down year for the
Miami Dolphins -- we saw them flail down the line last year and I don't think their quarterback situation is solved. Speaking of QB situations, the
Buffalo Bills are giving Booty a second chance. The only people getting booty, however, will be opposing cornerbacks.
AFC North
1.
Baltimore Ravens
2.
Pittsburgh Steelers
3.
Cincinnati Bengals
4.
Cleveland Browns
Analysis: Relevance has been the theme of the AFC North and I think the relevant team in the division this season will be the
Baltimore Ravens. They made some gutsy moves this offseason trading Chris McAlister and Ray Lewis, but I think it pays off as Tyler Thigpen evolves. Behind them, I actually think Tim Miller and the
Pittsburgh Steelers may figure out this scrambler thing -- not saying they make the playoffs, but good enough for second place. With the
Cincinnati Bengals, my question is whether they can play well at quarterback. The team is solid, but I don't see a leader. In last place, the
Cleveland Browns. The start of their schedule is brutal and I predict Tom Collins to blow it up after an 0-3 start.
AFC South
1.
Tennessee Titans
2.
Jacksonville Jaguars
3.
Houston Texans
4.
Indianapolis Colts
Analysis: There has been a lot of discussion about this division already and the general consensus is that the
Tennessee Titans will win the division. I'm holding true to that as they are the most complete team. I do think the
Jacksonville Jaguars will surprise a few people this season. I initially had the
Houston Texans second, but after looking over Jacksonville's roster, I think they could push for the playoffs, whereas I feel Houston will miss the presence of LT and Deltha O'Neal. The
Indianapolis Colts take last, but they knew that when they traded Peyton. Have to trust the process!
AFC West
1.
Oakland Raiders
2.
Kansas City Chiefs
3.
San Diego Chargers
4.
Denver Broncos
Analysis: This division belongs to the
Oakland Raiders until somebody takes it away from them and this isn't this year. San Diego continues to regret trading them a veteran QB. I do think the
Kansas City Chiefs have a good season as well. Leftwich is ready to be elite and the roster is fairly well rounded. The
San Diego Chargers continue to see growing pains, mostly because their GM decided to take the offseason off. In last place, the
Denver Broncos. I'm sorry Oli, but I have zero faith in Big Ben. I was burnt too many times.
