X-Factor 2009 - AFC South - Part 3/8
By Apolo Shapiro
Special to sfl-football.com

Now is the turn of the AFC South, a division that on my eyes is very dinamic, Texans and Titans have recently overcome the Hot Seat and went back to back to playoffs, and Jaguars - Colts doing some strong moves thinking on the future, specially with their young QB's

Houston Texans – WR Javon Walker

After 2 consecutive seasons on playoffs that not only saved GM Wade Pearce Job, but extended it to 3 seasons, now is that moment when you feel the price of use multiple veterans, for this year the Texans are still a very talented roster but you start to see holes that weren’t there last seasons. But when players leave = Opportunity for others, and that’s exactly what I see here. I don’t see Thomas Jones replacing Ladanian Tomlinson but he’ll be a solid player, anyway with a lower production need to take a look somewhere else and try to predict who’ll carry the Texans offense, and the player I’ll pick is WR Javon Walker, a respectable 6”3 body frame and high football skills going to turn him in the best target of QB Brian Griese that want to put good numbers before say goodbye.

Indianapolis Colts – LE Derrick Harvey

Im sure at some moment GM Ian Coyle sat at roster screen and thought about how great would’ve been to win a SB with a team that had QB Manning – HB James - WR Wayne – LE Freeney, etc. A team that was an offensive dynasty, but that missed the luck and clutch enough for take it all, but if Ian did that, was just for a second because Colts are back in the business. They killed the 2009 draft with 5 very solid picks, and adding more solid past drafts the Colts are a team that should be favorite to win division in 1 to 3 seasons. And my pick is exactly the direct replacement of one of those golden colts, LE Darrick Harvey, perhaps one of the most underated players in the last season. He didn’t get attention at draft, or during his first year. But as rookie posted 7 sacks, I can only expect a better number for his sophomore season.

Jacksonville Jaguars – HB Ronnie Brown

From now on, everytime write about the Jaguars is very very likely I’ll mention Ronnie Brown, and I can’t pick other than him for this exercise. Ronnie Brown is a former 1st rounder that was avail on this FA, he was in my opinion one of the best grabs of this offseason, even more after the Deshaun Foster disaster than im sure was a good lesson for GM Brad Barber. Now talking about Ronnie Brown, after traded Sjax 2 seasons ago, he came as a replacement alternative with some very similar attributes as a high str, btk and good size. Also I always noticed he never got AP bonus on speed, and he was a player that could play better than his poor numbers reflect. 2008 Week 5 must be the worst game for a HB ever. With 1 Yard on 15 attempt and 1 fumble. But I believe the change of scenario is going to be a 360 spin, and Ronnie Brown is going to be the workhorse of Jaguars with a high snap numbers, mainly with a sophomore QB under the center.

Tennessee Titans – WR Roy Williams

If I wasn’t the one writing this I’ll 100% describe this pick as lazy and out of place, end of the day we trying to look players that fly under the radar and can have a break season potential. Roy Williams was drafted at 1.10 and he was just traded for a 1st round and a solid replacement. But if you look at Williams stats he have only posted 2 seasons of more than 1000 yards and have never break the 10 TD barrier. Now let’s take a look at Titans, Eli Manning had a really strong first season on the team, and the team also have WR Anquan Bolding so they make a very strong #1 - #2 WR tandem. With Roy Williams attributes I feel we could have something similar to Eric Moulds golden days on Washington. Is clear GM Gary Cohen have a plan for him and my sixth sense tells me to bet on Roy for top production at 2009
