This article looks at the histories of the franchises in the SFL's AFC North.
Division Title
2002- Ravens
2003- Ravens
2004- Bengals
2005- Bengals
2006- Browns
2007- Bengals
2008- Browns
2009- Ravens
The AFC North has been one of the most interesting divisions in the SFL. It’s been very competitive through the eight seasons. The only team yet to win the division is the Pittsburgh Steelers and they would likely have done so had Michael Vick stayed healthy in 2009. The Ravens and Bengals have both won the division three times and the Browns have won it twice. This truly is a hard fought division that is up for grabs each season.
Playoff Records
Bengals- 2-4
Browns- 6-3
Ravens- 6-1
Steelers- 0-1
The AFC North has an impressive combined playoff record of 15-9. The Ravens have an unbelievable playoff record of 6-1. They have only been in the playoffs three times but when they get they, they like to stay there. We will see what the 2009 playoffs yield.
Regular Season Records
Bengals- 66-62 (4 winning seasons)
Browns- 70-58 (3 winning season)
Ravens- 63-64-1 (4 winning seasons)
Steelers- 52-75-1 (2 winning seasons)
When you look at the playoff records of this division, you might be surprised to find out that the regular season combined record of the division is only 2 games over .500. I think that’s a pretty amazing statistic: 6 games over .500 in the playoffs but only 2 games over .500 in the regular season. I guess when the pressure is on, the AFC North performs at their best.
