2010 SFL Mock Draft | Post Free-Agency
PICKTEAMPLAYERANALYSIS
1.01
WR Dez BryantThere is talk that Jerome Murphy may be the pick here, but we know that GM Brad Barber loves his wide receivers tall and fast. That describes Dez Bryant and I think he's the natural selection at this spot.
1.02
CB Jerome MurphyWith the Bengals signing DeMeco Ryans, this is a slam dunk obvious selection. Cincinnati has a good secondary, but with Murphy it can become great again. Murphy won't make it past the number two spot.
1.03
LT Russell OkungThe Cowboys have stated they plan on drafting Okung, so no reason to shy away from it here. Big D moves toward more of a balanced offense instead of the crazy passing attack they've had the past few seasons.
1.04
LE Carlos DunlapThere are rumors that GM Nic St. Marie is trying to move out of this spot. While I don't think it happens in the end, he'll be happy to draft Dunlap who is an oversized stud and will wreak havoc on opposing QBs.
1.05
WR Brandon LaFellIt sounds like LaFell is the second coveted receiver in this class and if the Colts want to rebound off of a disaster of a rookie season for Mark Sanchez, they need to give him more tall targets.
1.06
LT Zane BeadlesThere is a big hole on the left side of Carolina's offensive line. While there may be tempations for GM Leonard Jones to go defense with this pick, Zane Beadles is probably the safest option.
1.07
WR Arrelious BennI didn't think this pick was a wide receiver until I saw Nic's mock draft and realized this is a really smart pick for the Bengals. Arrelious Benn should be a difference maker and I think he's the pick here.
1.08
LE Jason WorildsThis pick may surprise some, but the Saints need to add a defensive end to their roster. New Orleans likes to select key positions in their draft and Worilds looks like he could slot in nicely at RE.
1.09
LOLB Keenan ClaytonThis seems to be the resounding theory -- Seattle is going to draft Clayton. That means none of us actually know what's going to happen (i.e. Stewart, Crabtree). The 9th pick will be a fun one!
1.10
WR Mike WilliamsThe fourth wideout off the board and it goes to Detroit. I'm sure the Lions are going to want to add people on offense, so it's just a question of who. Really, this could be one of a few wide receivers, but I'm hearing it's Williams.
1.11
CB Akasi Owusu-AnsahThis is excellent value for the Chargers, getting the second best cornerback in the draft at this spot. A year after cornerbacks were being selected like strippers at the SFL meetup, this proves for a good selection.
1.12
HB Ryan MathewsI didn't realize in my last mock draft, but New England does desperately need some need blood in the backfield. Mathews is a fantastic player, so I'm sure New England is happy to take him (remembering Musa Smith all the way).
1.13
LOLB Navorro BowmanDon't look now, but I have insider information on the Browns selection. Not going to tell you if this is true or not, but Bowman makes a lot of sense and fits into the scheme that GM Tom Collins is building.
1.14
CB Kevin ThomasWe've seen GM Brady Tinnin double dip on cornerbacks in the same draft before and I wouldn't be surprised to see him do it again here, especially with a talent like Thomas dropping this far. Means he may trade one of last year's starters.
1.15
TE Jermaine GreshamMiami throws the ball -- a lot. The one thing they've never had is a tall, speedy tight end. Imagine Gresham next to the wide receiver corps they have. I bet they wish they had someone like Tim Couch throwing now.
1.16
TE Rob GronkowskiI imagine San Francisco is hoping Gresham will drop, but they miss out on him by one selection. That leaves Gronk who is an excellent secondary option and may end up being just as good as Gresham.
1.17
DT Terrence CodySomeone told me that Jacksonville may be running a 3-4 next season. If that's the case, they'll likely look at drafting Terrence Cody as he is the exact definition of a nose tackle. And he's athletic to boot.
1.18
FS Nate AllenEveryone thinks this pick is Kam Chancellor. I bet that GM Neal Wintermute values speed over height at the free safety position and with Allen still very much available and one the board, selects him in this draft.
1.19
WR Carlton MitchellI'm looking to see GM Kevin Mullendore do something a touch different here. He goes for a tall receiver that isn't the fastest still available. It's an interesting selection, but I'd love to see it.
1.20
LG Mike IupatiThis is the point in the draft where you can start drafting based on need and I wouldn't be surprised to see Tennessee take the best interior lineman in the draft. Iupati's not a sexy pick, but he's an efficient one.
1.21
LT Charles BrownI maintain the fact that Charles Brown will go in the first round (though some have told me otherwise). I feel he fits a nice need on the Cincinnati offensive line and could easily start in year one.
1.22
WR David GettisIt's been years of me being beat my players such as David Gettis. It's about time I drafted one. Gettis fits into the roster nicely as a WR2, letting Ronald Curry slip back into the slot where he played last season.
1.23
WR Marc MarianiA small little run on wide receivers here, I feel like Carolina will want to give their quarterback a few more options next season in a division that is still very much winnable -- at least for the time being.
1.24
WR Taylor PriceThe run continues as Cleveland grabs the next best wide receiver, Taylor Price, who is being mocked in the top 10 of some mocks. I think this is more accurate on his range, but he provides another target for new QB Matt Schaub.
1.25
QB Sam BradfordThe slide ends here. Bradford is too good of a prospect to drop out of the first round, so someone is going to draft him. Bradford will likely start year one, with Brooks backing him up in case of injury. A better situation than Mark Sanchez saw.
1.26
WR Victor CruzThere are only a couple of first round potential receivers left and it's a position that Oakland rarely addresses in the draft. I believe that Cruz's speed will intrigue GM Garth Pearce and see him as the newest Raider rookie pushing for Rookie of the Year.
1.27
FS Eric BerryCan you imagine getting a talent like Eric Berry this late in the draft? GM Brent Lachapelle will be ecstatic if he can. Berry drops because he plays a low-impact position, but his skill level is undeniably high.
1.28
WR Emmanuel SandersGM Nathan Jones doesn't care about height in his receivers or secondary -- he cares about speed. He has a Super Bowl to show for it, so that's something. Sanders is an excellent fit for New Orleans.
1.29
LE Mike NealBaltimore is going to be moving in a different direction at defensive end. They drafted Veikune last year, but should look to add one more on the other side. Neal is the best player available and works well.
1.30
MLB Pat AngererI had Angerer at 1.02 in my last mock, but here he drops all the way to Arizona who picks him up in a heartbeat. He's not quite Alfred Fincher, but he's the type of player that GM Apolo Shapiro will make effective on day one.
1.31
CB Kareem JacksonSurprisingly, cornerbacks haven't been in high demand this draft. GM Scott Gardiner gets excellent value at the tail end of the first round in selecting a player who will likely start in Detroit week one.
1.32
CB Walter ThurmondWashington could go a few difference directions here, but I think Thurmond makes the most sense. They have a solid secondary, but will likely want to boost it up more. Thurmond makes the NCB or a depth starter.
