1.1- Indianapolis Colts- WR Jonathan Baldwin- Pittsburgh Jonathan Baldwin still should be the pick here to form a dominant trio of Randy Moss, Jonathan Baldwin and Brandon Lafell. Newly acquired David Carr will have no problem finding any of them since the smallest of the bunch is 6'3". Things are definitely looking positive in Indy!
1.2- San Francisco 49ers- RB Daniel Thomas- Kansas State I didn't want to put Daniel Thomas this far up and this could definitely change after FA but as of right now Brandon Jackson is the starting RB, his 3.94 YPC AVG is pedestrian, hasn't cracked double digit TD ever in his career and looks to be injury prone. Thomas comes in and steals the job day 1, BOOK IT!
1.3- Seattle Seahawks- CB Cortez Allen- Citadel (Previous pick- CB Richard Sherman) The Seahawks love Athleticism at every position and Allen unless he skews down in everything looks like the most athletic of all of them. He could go Sherman for the nostalgia or Ras-I Dowling but if Allen stays close to those numbers then you could definitely argue he should be the first CB off the board.
1.4- Carolina Panthers- WR A.J. Green- Georgia Marc Mariani struggled as the #1 WR in Carolina last season so what do you do about that? You select the 6'4" A.J. Green and pair him opposite and watch him shine as a scary duo.
1.5- Miami Dolphins- CB Ras-I Dowling- Virginia Dowling relies on his 6'2" frame to go along with his blazing SPD. He should have no trouble in any scheme with that combination but also comes with solid AWR, JMP, CTH and TAK which makes him a top 5 pick in this draft.
1.6- Jacksonville Jaguars- CB Richard Sherman- Stanford (Previous pick: CB Cortez Allen) They let CB Nnamdi Asomugha walk to the division rival Dallas Cowboys but still walk away with 1 of the top 3 corners in this draft class in Richard Sherman, at 6'3" he'll be a perfect replacement for Nnamdi who is an inch smaller. Paired with stud corner Antrel Rolle they should form a formidable duo right from the get go.
1.7- Arizona Cardinals- ILB Chris White- Mississippi State I think the cards will be ecstatic to get ILB Chris White here as Terry Pierce although still athletic is on the wrong side of 30. White is the total package being big, strong, agile, excellent burst, good tackler and reminds me of former Jags ILB Jordan beck who was amazing for us, he could excel that which is hard to beat.
1.8- Washington Redskins- RT Tyron Smith- USC A plug and play offensive lineman who will anchor the line for decades. he's a little light in the loafers for my taste but that is the only thing he lacks. SPD, STR, footwork, AWR, burst off the line and above average to elite pass and run blocking is his forte.
1.9- Denver Broncos- RT Anthony Castonzo- Boston College There seems to be an opening at RT and I think the broncos will use the free position switch. Castonzo is a bit light but other than that he is the type of player who can anchor the OL for the next decade with quick feet, brute strength, burst to pull or get out in front of defenders and above average blocking skills.
1.10- Denver Broncos- RE Kendrick Ellis- South Carolina After addressing the OL with the previous pick they now go to the DL and add the massive (6'5" 340 lbs) RE Kendrick Ellis, DE Terrance Knighton was a high draft choice for the Bills and I look at Ellis as a similar type of player that should dominate against the run and if his athleticism doesn't skew downwards he'll be a bitch trying to game plan against.
1.11- Arizona Cardinals- RE Cameron Jordan- California Jordan has nice size at 6'4", 285 lbs but his 90 SPD is going to give offensive coordinators nightmares to go along with his solid AGI, ACC and TAK. LB could also be in play here but to me whoever this is would be a future starter not someone who will start from day 1.
1.12- Miami Dolphins- LOLB Von Miller- Texas A&M (Previous pick: ILB Akeem Dent) Miller is 6'2" 240 lbs. which is why I took him over Mason Foster who's undersized for the position, the Dolphins switch him to LOLB but he can play in any scheme whether it's the 4-3 or 3-4 . He will make an immediate impact with his athletic ability, ability to drop into coverage and tackling.
1.13- Tampa Bay Buccaneers- TE Jordan Cameron- USC The Bucs add the dynamic Jordan Cameron to the lineup in the same mold as Gary Barnidge, Rob Gronkowski and Jermaine Gresham. He's as much of an athlete as all of the above, has great size, strength but lacks tremendously in CTH but lucky for the Bucs that is nothing TC and progression periods can't fix oh and having Peyton Manning throwing to you should help also.
1.14- Miami Dolphins- DE Robert Quinn- North Carolina It looks like a few DL contracts are up, I'm pretty sure Jay Moore will be resigned but Chris Canty has been almost ineffective for quite some time. J.J. brings that size, strength and athletic ability but should compete for the position right away.
1.15- Miami Dolphins- RB Mikel LeShoure- Illinois (Previous pick: WR Vincent Brown) Mikel looks like a back who can be a game changer in the SFL, now he doesn't have elite size like many GM's covet but makes up for it with speed, burst but can also juke you out of your shorts. great STR to start out, not terrible AWR, he'll need to work on his CAR and BTK but I can see him being an excellent backup to Jacobs and a scary change of pace back that can take any carry to the house.
1.16- Tennessee Titans- CB Chimdi Chekwa- Ohio State (Previous pick: SS Austin Yancy) The secondary gets a huge boost with Chekwa who can play NCB his first season and then slide into Brian Williams role after retirement or regression hits. At 6'0" he has plenty of size, unbelievable athlete who can turn into one of the best in the SFL.
1.17- New England Patriots- CB Jimmy Smith- Colorado Smith could pair right away with Jonathan Joseph or play NCB and learn behind some really solid corners in year 1 before completely taking over. The Pats have some capable corners but all are on their last legs, Smith would be a solid future prospect for them.
1.18- Tennessee Titans- SS Austin Yancy- Stanford After overhauling the WR core in FA with veterans they look to add youth movement to the secondary as CB Chekwa was added to boost the corners and now one of my favorite prospects in this draft looks to boost the safety position. His 6'3" 230 lbs frame to go along with his 92 SPD/93 ACC would be another solid addition.
1.19- Philadelphia Eagles- QB Andy Dalton- TCU With 2 QB's over 30 years old Andy Dalton looks pretty tempting or I'm just blowing smoke up your ass but we'll never know until draft day. Andy Dalton has the best AWR and THA in this class, let the red rifle fall to me!
1.20- Chicago Bears- WR Kris Durham- Georgia The Bears moved up and maybe the hope is a WR will fall to them, Kris Durham is a monster at 6'6" with plenty of athletic ability, where he falls short is .
1.21-Houston Texans- ILB Akeem Dent- Georgia (Previous pick: FS Robert Sands) Dent could come in and start right away for the Texans who are in a slight rebuild and looks like they might be looking to get a bit younger. Dent doesn't have ideal size but he definitely has the "IT" factor athletically, he's great in coverage and decent tackle.
1.22- New York Giants- RT Ben Ijalana- Villanova Ijalana doesn't have ideal height at just 6'4" but he's still a big man at 322 lbs., he's quick, strong as an ox and his burst to cut off defenders at the pass or as a swing tackle is unmatched. He could sit for a season or 2 behind Barron or start immediately.
1.23- Oakland Raiders- WR Vincent Brown- San Diego State (Previous pick: CB Patrick Peterson) I like WR Vincent Brown alot, he's 6' has blazing fast speed, unreal athleticism all around, his JMP is elite and his CTH is on par with the rest of the draft class. The Raiders have one of those rosters that most are completely envious of and just continue to add talent both of the veteran and young prospect kind.
1.24- New Orleans Saints- DT Marcel Dareus- Alabama (Previous picks: WR Tandon Doss) The for sure thing is Marcel Dareus would start on the New Orleans Saints roster as of right now since they don't have a DT on the roster. I didn't just throw a name out there because of this reason, I believe Dareus has 1st round potential if his STR stays the same or goes up, he's one of the most athletic at his position in this class and tied for having the best TAK which is all positive.
1.25- New England Patriots- LT Derek Sherrod- Mississippi State (Previous pick: LT Anthony Castonzo) The Pats fill in the LT position with the best OT left on the board which to me is Derek Sherrod, he's not overly big but his STR is off the charts, decent AWR, his footwork is top notch and already comes as an above average run and pass blocker.
1.26- Baltimore Ravens- ILB Kelvin Sheppard- LSU (CB Johnny Patrick) Sheppard can easily be a day 1 starter for the Ravens, he has the size, STR, AWR, athleticism and TAK that you covet at the position. The rest of the roster looks solid but there appeared to be an opening at ILB and this might be where the Ravens go on draft day.
1.27- Philadelphia Eagles- DE J.J. Watt- Wisconsin Watt would be an excellent addition on the DL, I doubt he starts right away but there's an opening if Udeze doesn't re-sign next offseason. Watt is a blend of athlete in a brutes body, he'll need to work on the tackling at the next level but the rest looks really good..
1.28- San Diego Chargers- RB Demarco Murray- Oklahoma I was trying to like any of the RB's in SD but I just couldn't, neither is an every down back imo and I think Murray can be with some TC love and rookie progression throughout the season, he has good size at 6'0" 214 lbs. , 81 STR and good SPD and ACC but will need to work on bot CAR and BTK.
1.29- Arizona Cardinals- OLB Mason Foster- Washington (Previous pick: RT Derek Sherrod) The Cardinals took care of a bunch of positions through trades and free agency plus land a good one here in OLB Mason Foster. I have Foster falling because of his less than ideal size but I truly think he'll go earlier but I'm not sure which GM that would be, in this scenario Gary Cohen is more than happy to take a LB with dynamic SPD/ACC?STR and TAK.
1.30- Cleveland Browns- LOLB Aldon Smith- Missouri (Previous pick: OLB Mason Foster) There appears to be an opening at LOLB and Aldon Smith would be an ideal candidate for the job. Great size at 6'5" 245 lbs, excellent athlete, with plenty of football IQ and can TAK, this could very well be the pick.
1.31- Tennessee Titans- RG Caleb Schlauderaff- Utah (Previous pick: RB Demarco Murray) Caleb should be a plug and play RG from day 1 for the Titans, I'm not sure if the plan is to move a RT over there but with -26M cap space after FA I'm guessing no. Schlauderaff is an excellent prospect but also fills a need..... Win-win!
1.32- Indianapolis Colts- CB Patrick Peterson- LSU Peterson is an all around solid CB who's 6'1" frame is coveted many GM's, he also comes with good AWR, CTH, JMP and TAK and should be in the mix at least as a NCB in year 1 to get some progression and eventually replace some of these older corners on the roster.
