2011 SFL Post-Free Agency Mock Draft

Here’s my humble attempt at a mock draft for Friday’s upcoming draft. I do take into account team needs and player value. In probably more cases, I skew toward player value. Hopefully I have the latest trades factored in, but if I don’t I apologize.

1.1- WR-Jonathan Baldwin- Colts
22 years old, 6’5”, 99 SPD, 42 STR, 54 AWR, 99 AGI, 99 ACC, 77 CTH, and 84 JMP

He’s everybody’s #1 for a couple of reasons. He should be the most dominant player in the draft and Breck said he was taking him.

1.2- HB-Daniel Thomas- 49ers
23 years old, 6’2”, 227 lbs., 92 SPD, 82 STR, 54 AWR, 93 AGI, 90 ACC, 75 CAR, 81 BTK, and 90 INJ

I don’t like him this high but he is the best RB available and it’s crystal clear to me the 49ers are taking a RB.

1.3- CB-Cortez Allen- Seahawks
23 years old, 6’1”, 197 lbs., 99 SPD, 57 STR, 56 AWR, 95 AGI, 97 ACC, 64 CTH, and 68 TAK

The few times the Seahawks have drafted anywhere close to this high, they have taken physical freaks. Allen is a defensive freak.

1.4- RT-Tyrone Smith- Panthers
21 years old, 6’6”, 292 lbs., 69 SPD, 97 STR, 61 AWR, 74 AGI, 82 ACC, 88 PBK, and 86 RBK

The Panthers roster need more help than a two week old baby. Smith is a cornerstone RT which all teams need including this team.

1.5- CB-Ras-I Dowling- Dolphins
23 years old, 6’2”, 200 lbs., 97 SPD, 63 STR, 57 AWR, 90 AGI, 90 ACC, 63 CTH, and 64 TAK

I think the Dolphins would love to have Allen but Dowling is a phenomenal consolation prize.

1.6- WR-A.J. Green- Jaguars
23 years old, 6’4”, 206 lbs., 98 SPD, 31 STR, 57 AWR, 95 AGI, 97 ACC, 83 CTH, and 77 JMP

The Jaguars have a pretty decent roster but this is where I recommend taking the best player available. Green is the best player available.

1.7- MLB-Chris White- Cardinals
23 years old, 6’3”, 244 lbs., 86 SPD, 86 STR, 63 AWR, 82 AGI, 88 ACC, and 78 TAK

The Cardinals don’t need much, however, MLB is a clear need. White is an elite MLB and so I think this is an obvious choice.

1.8- LT-Anthony Castonzo- WFT
23 years old, 6’7’, 295 lbs., 65 SPD, 98 STR, 57 AWR, 76 AGI, 85 ACC, 86 PBK, and 87 RBK

The WFT needs help along the offensive line and Castonzo is pretty much the same quality as Smith. It makes this pick a no brainer.

1.9- ROLB-Von Miller- Browns
22 years old, 6’2”, 240 lbs., 84 SPD, 81 STR, 59 AWR, 85 AGI, 88 ACC, and 78 TAK

Finally the Browns go speed at OLB. Miller is top notch elite. He might have a shot at second year progression too.

1.10- CB-Richard Sherman- Bills
22 years old, 6’3”, 195 lbs., 92 SPD, 47 STR, 57 AWR, 95 AGI, 92 ACC, 54 CTH, and 64 TAK

The Bills just sent McCauley packing. They are high on Lito Sheppard and that is fine, but they need a tall CB and Sherman is a prime candidate to fill that role.

1.11- TE-Jordan Cameron- Cardinals
23 years old, 6’5”, 245 lbs., 88 SPD, 70 STR, 54 AWR, 82 AGI, 85 ACC, 68 CTH, 63 PBK, and 62 RBK

He’s an athletic freak and since the Cardinals don’t have many needs why not upgrade significantly at a position even if it is not a major position.

1.12- DT-Kendrick Ellis- Dolphins
23 years old, 6’5”, 340 lbs., 80 SPD, 75 STR, 55 AWR, 74 AGI, 87 ACC, and 79 TAK

The Dolphins allowed Jay Moore to leave in match eligible free agent and they seemed OK with that. Ellis would be a force to contend with at LE.

1.13- WR-Kris Durham- Cowboys
22 years old, 6’6”, 220 lbs., 95 SPD, 44 STR, 42 AWR, 86 AGI, 98 ACC, 69 CTH, and 87 JMP

I think the Cowboys are looking for player immediately ready to play which would not seem to be what Durham is. However, I think he’s too talented to pass up.

1.14- ROLB-Mason Foster- Dolphins
20 years old, 6’0”, 200 lbs., 85 SPD, 85 STR, 59 AWR, 85 AGI, 87 ACC, and 82 TAK

Another physical freak. I don’t think the Dolphins like how small he is, but the attributes can still be persuasive.

1.15- HB-Mikel LeShoure- Dolphins
22 years old, 5’10”, 206 lbs., 92 SPD, 76 STR, 56 AWR, 93 AGI, 96 ACC, 73 CAR, 82 BTK, and 93 INJ

I think the Dolphins want to move on from Jacobs. LeShoure can give them this opportunity. It might be a little high for him but the Dolphins have a ton of picks so they can afford a little reach.

1.16- WR-Tandon Doss- Titans
22 years old, 6’3”, 198 lbs., 93 SPD, 45 STR, 53 AWR, 95 AGI, 97 ACC, 74 CTH, and 92 JMP

Apolo could go with a smaller receiver with more speed but Doss will be really good and I’d prefer him over the other guys.

1.17- LT-DeMarcus Love- Patriots
23 years old, 6’5”, 315 lbs., 66 SPD, 96 STR, 54 AWR, 67 AGI, 74 ACC, 83 PBK, and 86 RBK

Love looks like a Patriots type of guy. Not as athletic as other guys but he has the strength and blocking skills that I think New England likes.

1.18- RT-Ben Ijalana- Titans
21 years old, 6’4”, 322 lbs., 66 SPD, 94 STR, 50 AWR, 71 AGI, 78 ACC, 82 PBK, and 82 RBK

Ijalana is an athletic OT who just needs some time to develop. I think the Titans may be up for a guy like this.

1.19- CB-Chimdi Chekwa- Eagles
23 years old, 6’0”, 190 lbs., 96 SPD, 54 STR, 52 AWR, 93 AGI, 94 ACC, 61 CTH, and 64 TAK

A 6’0” speed corner is a good player to have on your roster. The Eagles need to add at CB and so Chekwa could be the fit.

1.20- SS_Austin Yancy- Bears
22 years old, 6’3”, 230 lbs., 92 SPD, 57 STR, 51 AWR, 95 AGI, 93 ACC, 58 CTH, and 64 TAK

The Bears continue to have a talent rich roster but they did not retain MIchael Johnson. Yancy is a big time talent and they can get him here at 20.

1.21- FS-Robert Sands- Texans
23 years old, 6’4”, 221 lbs., 89 SPD, 48 STR, 55 AWR, 92 AGI, 87 ACC, 69 CTH, and 73 TAK

Sands is a monster FS and the Texans could use an upgrade there. Wade has been really efficient with his picks particularly in the secondary but Sands could be a big boost.

1.22- CB-Patrick Peterson- Giants
21 years old, 6’1”, 211 lbs., 91 SPD, 61 STR, 60 AWR, 96 AGI, 94 ACC, 71 CTH, and 67 TAK

Peterson reminds me of Cromartie who is already on the Giants roster. It’s a good get for the Giants if they can get him here.

1.23- LE-Cameron Jordan- Raiders
21 years old, 6’4”, 287 lbs., 90 SPD, 70 STR, 54 AWR, 78 AGI, 75 ACC, and 76 TAK

The Raiders know hoe to grab real talent late in round 1. Jordan is a real talent in my mind and I think he will be a big time sack guy.

1.24- DT-Phil Taylor- Saints
23 years old, 6’4”, 355 lbs., 57 SPD, 85 STR, 59 AWR, 71 AGI, 78 ACC, and 83 TAK

The Saints have built a nice roster but they could use a DT and Taylor is the best traditional DT in this draft.

1.25- LOLB-Aldon Smith- Patriots
20 years old, 6’5”, 245 lbs., 80 SPD, 75 STR, 69 AWR, 85 AGI, 85 ACC, and 80 TAK

Another pick that I think fits the GM well. Smith is a big OLB with great AWR and TAK. He’s not an athletic OLB per say but he can hold his own.

1.26- MLB-Kelvin Sheppard- Ravens
23 years old, 6’3”, 239 lbs., 84 SPD, 75 STR, 67 AWR, 81 AGI, 87 ACC, and 83 TAK

MLB’s always slide in the draft. The team that benefits this year from that slide is the Ravens. Sheppard is a legit player.

1.27- CB-DeMarcus VanDyke- Dolphins
24 years old, 6’1”, 95 SPD, 38 STR, 53 AWR, 92 AGI, 92 ACC, 56 CTH, and 48 TAK

The Dolphins would like to add to their CB stable. VanDyke is risky because of his age but outside of that he’s legit good.

1.28- HB-Demarco Murray- Chargers
23 years old, 6’0”, 214 lbs., 91 SPD, 81 STR, 57 AWR, 86 AGI, 91 ACC, 73 CAR, 76 BTK, and 91 INJ

Murray has the bones to be a good HB. He will likely need a year or two for progression.

1.29- CB-Jimmy Smith- Cardinals
23 years old, 6’2”, 210 lbs., 90 SPD, 56 STR, 59 AWR, 91 AGI, 92 ACC, 63 CTH, and 67 TAK

If Smith falls all the way to 29, I think the Cardinals run to the podium for him. Particularly after they just traded away legendary Champ Bailey.

1.30- WR-Vincent Brown- Browns
23 years old, 6’0”, 195 lbs., 98 SPD, 62 STR, 57 AWR, 90 AGI, 93 ACC, 74 CTH, and 96 JMP

Victor Cruz is a great WR but he could use a little help. In a draft that is so deep at WR it only makes sense for the Browns to add Brown.

1.31- LG-John Moffitt- Titans
24 years old, 6’5”, 323 lbs., 64 SPD, 97 STR, 49 AWR, 69 AGI, 80 ACC, 84 PBK, and 90 RBK

Another offensive lineman for the Titans? Yeah I think so. Moffitt is going to be really good. He will be quick to progress as well since he has such high blocking skills. I don’t love the fact that he is 24 years old though.

1.32- WR-Randall Cobb- Colts
23 years old, 5’11”, 188 lbs., 97 SPD, 46 STR, 52 AWR, 93 AGI, 99 ACC, 70 CTH, and 84 JMP

The Colts grabbed Randy Moss via trade but I think they add Cobb and load up at WR. I think they pass on QB here.

I'm sure I will be wrong on many of these but it's the fun of the draft to try to predict what other GM's will do.
