Now that the first round of the 2011 SFL draft is in the books and I have had a few hours to take a deeper look, here go my top 3 “steals” of the 1st round.
(Please keep in mind that I liked a majority of the picks but didn’t want to go with the the best picks (I.E Baldwin), but rather the best value as I see it) Here we go:
1 - LOLB Aldon Smith to the Bucs with the 13th overall pick
The skew was pretty freakin good. After private workout his attributes were 84 spd, 69 awr, 85 agi, 87 acc and 81 tak. Adding that to the fact that he is only 20 years old makes me think that Bryan got himself a heck of a player that should be an anchor for the defense for the next 10-12 seasons. Bravo Bryan!
2 - MLB Kelvin Sheppard to the Giants with the 22nd overall pick
Another awesome skew here. 85 spd, 69 awr, 84 agi, 86 acc and 81 tak to add to his 6’3” frame. Romeo hit an HR with this pick. The Giants will be contenders this season and Sheppard will be a big reason why. Hate to say it but kudos to u on a great pick Romeo.
3 - OT Anthony Costanzo to the Dolphins with the 14th overall pick
98 str, 66 agi, 83 acc, 86 pbk, 88 rbk
I almost took him with the 7th overall pick instead of Smith. Only reason I didn’t was age due to the new regression system coming this off-season. I can see him ending up being the best offensive lineman to come out of this draft. I think the Dolphins crushed the 1st round and Costanzo is a big reason why.
This to me was a stacked first round with a lot of great picks. I think a lot of teams got better and can’t wait to see what is in store for the 2nd day of the draft. I expect a lot of trades since there seems to be a ton of talent still on the board. Big thanks to everyone who made it a great 1st round.
