SUPERMAN vs BIZARO ll
Welcome to the anual edition of the Superman vs Bizarro game, for those that missed it last season this game face the top drafted rookies of each position (Superman team) vs the players taken after them (Bizarro team). This game have entertainment purposes but also is my way to measure how deep a draft class were, and how impactful are 1st rounders vs 2nd rounders.
Last season Superman took the first trophy with an amazing HB Ryan Matthews performance, GM Scott Gardiner lead them to the victory. This season we’ll have some differences in the way to write the article, last season focused merely in the attributes, and in do some fancy images, but felt it wasn’t a good read, at the end the season start made me ran out of time so didn’t post results or stats. So the formula for this year going to be like this:
Part 1: Superman Team with a personal commentary of the player
Part 2: Bizarro Team with a personal commentary of the player
Part 3: Results of the game (Going to be streamed and going to ask for 2 volunteers for gameplan/lineups) and final conclussions.
Before start an small note: If you do not want any of your rookies to be used on this game because maybe want to wait for season debut please let me know and i’ll gladly remove it.
As last season we following “ALL PRO” guidelines:
SUPERMAN TEAM
QB Andy Dalton - Drafted 3.16 by Minnesota Vikings
Andy Dalton the Red Riffle makes history at SFL being the first QB drafted at the 2011 draft, but not in 1st round, and not in 2nd round but in 3rd round. This definetily wasn't the year of the QB, pre skew no one seemed worth of a top pick, and to be honest i think the ones drafted at later rounds were with the hopes a great skew jumps in, that clearly wasn't the case for Dalton: 59 awr - 86 thp - 87 tha, makes him a QB probably never going to start a game. Vikings took a leap of faith with him, but didn't work. At the end he only cost a 3rd round pick and going to be a cheap contract backup.
HB Daniel Thomas – Drafted 1.15 by Miami Dolphins
Oh man, Daniel Thomas at 1.15 is a massive steal. Somehow whole league thought he was going to be drafted 1.2, yeah 1.2. I think 49ers made the right choice looking in another direction, but is not only 49ers passed on him, he kept falling spots, till the Dolphins shout: Stop! And grabbed a fantastic player at 1.15, Now looking at Thomas: He doesn’t have a killer speed or acc, but that’s the kind of HB that seems to have success at SFL. He comes with a very good body frame of 6”2 and 227 and he went to the gym and hit an incredible 82 str. He needs to progress his football skills, something that can be fixed with time and game time.
WR Jonathan Baldwin – Drafted 1.1 by Indianapolis Colts
No one saw this pick coming, Colts shocked the world when they selected WR Jonathan Baldwin, i mean a WR? They should’ve picked Dalton but… Jokes aside Jonathan Baldwin is a complete stud, he’s big at 6”5 and 225, he’s maxed out at Spd – Agi – Acc. He’s relative young at 22 years old and comes with a workable Catch since day 1. He should dominate the league and post wonderful stats. As rookie he’s probably the best WR the league ever seen, being better than Brandon Marshall. Maybe my only problem with Baldwin is he won’t receive rookie or sophomore boost at agi/acc. First wold problems.
WR AJ Green – Drafted 1.3 by Seattle Seahawks
If Baldwin doesn’t exist AJ Green is a complete stud, i’ll start exactly where i finished the analysis for Baldwin, and is rookie/sophomore boost. AJ Green after those should end maxed out as Baldwin with 99-99-99, AJ Green could perfectly being a 1.1 in almost any other draft, but he fell to 1.3 because there were more talent. I can picture Superman thinking how his WR going to crush Bizarro CB. Is almost unfair Dalton going to throw the ball.
WR Kris Durham – Drafted 1.9 by Cleveland Browns
Kris Durham is a really raw player, he’s the kind of dumb stud that have success. He won’t run Smart routes, he’ll probably drop passes but who cares if he’s going to moss CB and run straight to end zone. The fact he drop to 1.9 is incredible, because if you analyze, Baldwin > AJ Green because the body frame, but… Durham have a better body frame. If browns invest some love at him he can be 99 speed – 99 acc, and around 92 agi, a number that worked well for Meachem in Arizona. Browns got a guy that can win them games and sell tickets.
TE Larry Donell – Drafted 1.12 by Miami Dolphins
Larry Donel history is unique: He participated in a documental so he went to McDonalds every single day during 6 months. The guy reached the 365 pounds, then he went with Dr. Nowzadaran and lost 100 pounds in few days. Is this a sign for the upcoming SFL Lose weight challenge, is Larry Donell an inspiration story?. Well looks like all those out field topics were a distraciton for experts doing mocks but not for Miami Front office that grabbed a generational talent with Donell. The problems with him? He’s extremely raw so he’ll need time for reach his true potential, if he does.
OL Tyron Smith – Drafted 1.7 by Arizona Cardinals
As previously did im starting exactly where left Donell being raw, Smith is extremely polished for being 21 years old. And he’s extremely Athletic. I can see Tyron Smith being an anchor for at least 10 years. And i think all teams want that kind of players, one that makes you ignore the position for seasons and season. Cardinals start a new adventure and they do it the right way. He needs some progression at AWR for reach his top potential but should be not a problem.
OL Anthony Castonzo – Drafted 1.14 by Miami Dolphins
Anthony Castonzo is an Stud, he’s tall, strong, mobile and a good blocker, he and Tyron Smith are very similar, the reason castonzo fell some slots after Smith is because his age. Castonzo needs to improve his awr but right now he’s a force of nature out there blocking Daniel Thomas. As he’s also tal i wouldn’t be surprise if Castonzo is a pancake leader in some seasons.
OL Ben Ijalana – Drafted 1.27 by Philadelphia Eagles
Another very Athletic OL with good block skills, he fall some spots behind the other 2 studs but yet he’s a tremendous prospect. His 50 awr requires time and patience, but the good thing is he’s only 21 years old meaning he can play at least 10 quality seasons with Eagles, philadelphia must be happy to land a long time starter here.
OL Jah Reid – Drafted 1.29 by Atlanta Falcons
Just as first 2 OL were very similar, the same happen with the next duo, personally like more Reid because his height, but he’s also 1 year older and with that low awr that may be a more important factor than 3 inches, specially with the new regression system, you want your players to reach it the more progressed posible, so even if a stud Reid better start to progress his football skills. He’s an stud so should have no problems.
C Danny Aiken – Drafted 1.8 by Washington Redskins
Redskins fan probably thought it was a joke, personally i don’t consider C position something should be looked at 1st round, not at 1.8 and not with a C as Aiken. Mistake or not the pick is done and Redskins GM is more than capable to overcome this pick and bring Washington back to glory days. It’s hard to analyze this pick or player, he’s undersized, Athletic with wonderful strenght but very low block skills. He can “Progress” but the negative impact he can have to the offense probably have Washington wondering if must start him and make the pick look better, or just take the lose and move on.
DE JJ Watt – Drafted 1.20 by Chicago Bears
Just as with QB this wasn’t a good year for defensive linemen, but situation isn’t as awful as was with the mentioned position. The detail with DL this year is they have a big flat somewhere. JJ Watt is probably the more balanced and that’s why got picked 1st, also a wonderful name, who doesn’t love JJ?. Great 6”6 -285 body frame, decent speed, good str, agi and acc. His mainly flaw is his low tackle but after some progressions that can be easily fix.
DE Cameron Jordan – Drafted 1.28 by San Diego Chargers
Cameron Jordan is a very interesting case, the guy have stud speed, with a great size, and is really young. He’s a complete steal at 1.28, and was highly ignored pre-draft specially as he was 90 speed. At the end dropped to 86 but yet that is really high, the “deal” with Jordan is his low acc, at 73. Personally i do consider acc is the ability to move fast in a short distance, and DL need it. Anyway no one really know what is enough, and if 75 is enough, Cam Jordan going to dominate for years. Is a “risky” bet but is one can pay very well, as note his str is low too but in my book more than enough for DE.
DT Kendrick Ellis – Drafted 1.30 by Tennessee Titans
Nicknamed as the Apolo Special at some mock drafts, he fell to 1.30 where he could make the perfect match with a GM that loves this kind of mobile big defensive linemen. Kendrick Ellis is a homerun or bust, his size is unique for his speed-acc, his str is really low for the position average, and he can be moved to DE but is he fast enough?. Just as happens with Cameron Jordan he’s a unknown result, at some point he’ll have 90 acc, that compensate his speed and str? Maybe yes, maybe no, time will tell.
OLB Von Miller – Drafted 1.5 by Miami Dolphins
An stud with a very popular name, what else can be asked? Von Miller is good at everything, fast, strong, young and well progressed for the age. He’s a complete juggernaut and not surprised he was drafted that high. The main question about Miller is probably the impact his position has, does it really boost a defense ori s just a combination of nice numbers. Personally i think Von Miller will be a superstar and going to be a leader on a team going to win a SB in the next 5 seasons.
OLB Aldon Smith – Drafted 1.13 by Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bryan picking in the 1st round with a pick traded by Will? Are we living in the Matrix? Yes. Bryan picked in the 1st round, and he got an stud that going to last 10 seasons+, very Smart for being a rookie with a 6”5 frame. Im 100% sure he’ll be maxed in speed, str, acc. Ending at 86 speed – 80 speed – 90 acc and soon 90 tak, 80 awr. All of that at 6”5 and probably only 22 years old. Special note for Will: Don’t deal with the devil again.
MLB Chris White – Drafted 1.11 by Arizona Cardinals
Chris White is the kind of MLB i was expecting during the last 2-3 drafts, and finally Cardinals got an stud that going to dominate the front 7. He’s a taller and stronger versión of Alfred Fincher. White is a complete stud probably the best MLB prospect the league ever seen. He gives me vibes of a new Urlacher and similar to previously mentioned Alfred Fincher.
CB Cortez Allen – Drafted 1.2 by San Francisco 49ers
Peter Fenger is at bat, full bases, 3 balls – 2 strikes. 1.2 pick is thrown is a curve ball, people say pick HB Daniel Thomas but Peter ignores it, swing the ball, pick CB Cortez Allen and…. Grand Slam! 49ers grab a generational talent at CB Cortez Allen. Peter use his extra year as GM and have a fantastic draft. Allen is an stud sooned he will be 99-99-99, yes he needs work at his awr and the fact he’s already 23 is not good, but as he’s so fast he’s some of the few players that going to be able to survive the regression. 99-99-99 going to take a lot of regressions before he’s not an starter. Bravo 49ers
CB Richard Sherman – Drafted 1.4 by Carolina Panthers
Welcome to the SFL Phill !!!. Son of the evil emperor, Phil is the chosen one by the light side of the force for prevent another championship for his dad. And his first jedi knight is the 6”3 CB Richard Sherman. I do believe the most important answer for value this pick/player is: Is Height really important for the position?. Everybody going to have different opinions about it, but the important is 6”3+ CB are really weird and even if he’s not the fastest CB, he can be boosted up to 93 speed with around 95/96 acc. So Panthers grab an special player in a high demand position.
CB Ras-I Dowling – Drafted 1.6 by Jacksonville Jaguars
Ras-I Dowling is an stud, a fantastic pick by Jaguars. He’s fast at 95 speed and tal at 6”2, as mentioned at Sherman comment, if size matters, Dowling have it. If speed matters, dowling have it. He needs to progress his awr really fast for being an impact player, i can see him struggling during first seasons till he reach around 70-75 awr and that’s when Dowling going to be a game changer. Jaguars fans should be extremely happy t osee a player of this caliber being taken at 1.6, he can be 6”2 98 speed with some AP investment.
S Austin Yanci – Drafted 1.18 by New York Jets
Yanci is a complete stud for the Safety position, he’s fast and tall. All the comparison made have him tied with Sabby Piscitielli player drafted at 1.6 and that was traded for 1.1 3 seasons ago. If you can manage to grab a talent like that one at 1.18 is a fantactic grab. The biggest downside of Yanci is his 51 awr, he’ll bite in almost every PA attempt and well safety should be your safe bet at defense. But with some patience, once he reach the 75 awr going to be a gamechanger, he’s only 22 years old. Have a massive body frame and as is fast and tall he’ll be able to afford the regression. I can see Yanci playing all his career as starter till he retires.
S Sam Proctor – Drafted 2.1 by Jacksonville Jaguars
Sam Proctor was the chosen one for opening the second round, 2.1 pick offers the advantadge that gives you all the time for analyze all the talent that wasn’t drafted at 1st round, and doesn’t have pressure. Personally i think Superman would’ve liked to see Sands here and not with Bizarro team. But Jaguars grabbed a 6”3 safety with 22 years old and a managable awr of 57, that yes needs work but can be progressed. Proctor is not an stud but will be a solid starter.
Those were all the superman players for this year, stay tuned for find out Bizarro Team. Leave in the comments: Which one is your favorite player?.
