AFC East
1.
Buffalo Bills
2.
New York Jets
3.
New England Patriots
4.
Miami Dolphins
Analysis: Nothing has been more consistent in the AFC East than a
Buffalo Bills squad with their GM on the Hot Seat. I think they deliver again this season, winning a division that seems a bit easier than in seasons past. The
New York Jets look primed for another decent season though -- despite the wake of the Jake Plummer retirement. Aaron Brooks is now the starter and looks like he can lead the franchise for a few seasons. In third, we have the
New England Patriots, whom I think are good, but I didn't see enough dynamite moves to pick them back-to-back. Last place is still the
Miami Dolphins but a lot of first-round picks have them looking up.
AFC North
1.
Cincinnati Bengals
2.
Baltimore Ravens
3.
Pittsburgh Steelers
4.
Cleveland Browns
Analysis: This is a gut feeling I've got, but this
Cincinnati Bengals team looks like the type of squad that GM Brady Tinnin has success with. It's been a long-term rebuild and the Cats are finally here. Which is disappointing for GM Norbert Huszti and the
Baltimore Ravens who are very vocal in thinking they are the top dogs in the division. They're second though, which isn't too bad. In third place, I'm putting the
Pittsburgh Steelers. I still don't trust the scrambler strategy, but it's actually won some games. In last place is the
Cleveland Browns who are going through a mini-rebuild after former GM Tom Collins darted for greener pastures in Denver.
AFC South
1.
Indianapolis Colts
2.
Houston Texans
3.
Tennessee Titans
4.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Analysis: The
Indianapolis Colts will go worst to first in this division. A lot of that has to do with GM Darryl Breckheimer, but a fair amount of credit goes to former GM Ian Coyle who had this team on the cusp. It's a tight division though, and I feel that both the
Houston Texans and
Tennessee Titans will be right behind them. I lean Houston, because the team is more well-rounded, but it's a toss up. The
Jacksonville Jaguars aren't far behind. I think this becomes their division consistently in the next 2-3 seasons, but they aren't quite there yet.
AFC West
1.
Oakland Raiders
2.
Kansas City Chiefs
3.
Denver Broncos
4.
San Diego Chargers
Analysis: Their roster looks a touch bare right now, but the
Oakland Raiders will be no joke once it's filled completely in the next few days. They've consistently been one of the better squads and there is no reason to doubt them now. Second place belongs to the
Kansas City Chiefs who have to hope that John David Booty is no longer throwing interceptions. The defense looks legitimate, but the offense may need some help. The
Denver Broncos fill third-place and new GM Tom Collins has something the former GM did not have -- time. It'll take him a while to get things clicking (gameplan, etc.), but the learnings of this season will lead him into a glorious future. In last place is the
San Diego Chargers. Look at their roster and you'll know why. They're REALLY bad.
