Welcome to the pilot episode of “The Starman Show”, the place where i’ll do one of my favorite things: To talk about the SFL. Each episode will be different but mostly i’ll try to follow a formula. The show is expected to have 1 episode per SFL Week, and some specials during playoffs, preseason and offseason. From now on all my league articles going to be tagged as The Starman Show (Except final 2 parts of Bizarro vs Superman game, that still on the writting process). The show will be done with entertainment purposes and trying to bring quality content to the league, but, the most important part is YOU. I’ll highly appreciate your participation in comments, and every GM is welcome to being part of it as guest starring.
Main Sections:
- Previous Week Recap: (An small recap from previous week games, or outstandings performance by players or teams
- Current Week Predictions : Predictions with small comments or a curious fact (if can find one)
- Game Highlights: Here i’ll make a video with last week highlights, but i’ll need GM help. If one of your players made a great play, or Madden screwed you, or something funny happened at one of your games. Send me a PM with the broadcaster twitch and the time stamp . I’ll make a clip and put all of them together in 1 video.
Those 3 are going to be the core of the show and some weeks i’ll try to add more content, always there’s a solid topic, i don’t want to write stupid things just for fill it.
Once introduction done, let’s start with a simple league article called: “Last to First” i’ll try to ranked the 8 teams that ended last place on their divisions at 2010, based on how likely i think they can win their divisions at 2011.
#1 Indianapolis Colts: Darryl Breckheimer is their new GM, and he made a fantastic manage with the resources inherited by former GM Ian Coyle, yeah this team sttrugled last season going 3-13, but they had a ton of draft resources and cap space for make a championship team, and that’s what happened. With multiple veteran superstars, and other top young prospect this team potential is great. Also let’s consider AFC South had 3 new GM and Texans took a step back at QB position, Jaguars are too young for this season (Even if they’re set for dominate in the future). And Titans brought in multiple veterans but are not a ready team.
#2 Denver Broncos: Another GM with new job, GM Tom Collins currently hold the longest streak without miss playoffs, that’s something that can’t be ignored. Is he relevant? That’s a question for the starman show special episode #100. Broncos were leading the división earlier last season and they suddenly started a lose spyral, Collins is an expert working with HB like Steven Jackson and i consider broncos are capable of win the división. The reason they’re spotted at #2 is because AFC West is a hard place, specially Raiders that have been playoffs consistent during years, Chargers QB getting more ready and Chiefs have multiple blue chips.
#3 Cincinati Bengals: Brady Tinnin is back and that’s not good for AFC North, i’ve always have trouble predicting this división, their teams can beat the strongest team of the league and then lose vs the weakest. Pretty much is unpredictable, but a 7-9 season by Bengals during their rebuild process is what makes me pick them at #3, here i gotta admit i see a high risk they have a rebound, specially as i don’t trust at their offense. As mentioned AFC North is one división i can’t predict so let’s see what destiny have on mind.
#4 Miami Dolphins: I’ve mentioned before in another article i think the Dolphins going to win a SB soon, in a window of 5 seasons. They have potential to become a dinasty, the talent on the tea mis absurb good, but they’re young. And at least this year i can’t see them dominating the always competitive AFC East, i can see them reaching playoffs as a wildcard team, and already in playoffs they can be like 2005 Cardinals. But for the purposes of this article and with Jets-Bills-Patriots having better QB i’ll put Miami at #4
#5 San Francisco 49ers: Have you notice something while reading it? close your eyes, think about it 5 seconds and keep reading… All my previous 4 spots were AFC teams, and i don’t think is a coincidence, overall the NFC have some very well rounded teams that are hard to take down. So a jump from last to first place is harder. That’s exactly the scenario here, from all the 8 teams the 49ers probably had the best offseason, or at least the best draft. But NFC West is a very complicated place, with current champions Rams, stacked roster Cardinals and a team that have grabbed multiple blue chips as Seahawls. That’s why 49ers drop to #5
#6 Washington Redskins: The team have 3 SB championships and they still have the champion core, so probably is silly to rank them this low. As they have real chances of make playoffs, my reasoning behind it is similar to what happened with 49ers, i don’t see NFC East as strong as NFC West, but all the 3 teams made movements thinking in win now, mainly the hot seat Cowboys and Giants. They both wasted a future 1st + a massive contract in 30 years old players. So base don how much they want to win, i rank Washington at #6
#7 Detroit Lions: They have an impressive core at both sides of the ball, but for the future. Multiple young players are hard to manage, and the NFC North is not a friendly place. The Bears are becoming closer to a championship than to lose the división, the Vikings had 2 struggle seasons but they won conference before that, and Packers QB Matt Ryan is more ready than Sam Bradford. For all those reasons the lions make my #7.
#8 Carolina Panthers: At the final spot i’ll put the Panthers, Phill have showed he’ll be a succesful GM, but he took over a roster that needs time. NFC South have added multiple talent and is a difficult división, even if just 2 seasons ago falcons won it with an 8-8 record, yeah couldn’t avoid to joke about that again, sorry Nic i like you but that never gets old. Right now Phil is rebuilding the team as should, Drew Stanton can be a great QB but he’s not ready for win a división.
And with that, the pilot episode of The Starman Show is over, hopefully it is succesful and can reach the episode 100, so we can find out if Tom Collins is relevant or not. Stay tuned
