Now is the moment for talk about our first 2 NFC Divisions
The Broken Man and the Alone Star
GM William Cook became the first GM saved by the QB injure clause, and if you stop and think about it for a second,is incredible haven’t happen before. At this point of the league we’ve seen multiple teams putting their GM on the Hot Seat, and every season we have a high ammount of QB missing multiple games due injury, so we waited 10 seasons for see the first clause. That’s incredible, and more if you add William have statement in tha past, he doesn’t like this clause at all, and that if you ask me i think he wouldn’t have accepted it, other than he would’ve affected Lions and Scott, which we’ll talk about later. The Cowboys season was a very cowboyish season, they started slow and closed the season strong, they even won a game 20-0 vs one of the strongest offenses of the league. GM Cook built a very interesting core of young and veterans players, but that wasn’t enough for make the playoffs in a very inspired NFC East. Now is time William makes the best use of the 1 year extension and makes playoffs if he doesn’t want to see him out of Dallas.
Giants almost pull the miracle
The New York Giants, made big moves at the offseason thinking they had a legit shot of playoffs and why not, a title. What went wrong, at some point they looked at their record and it was 0-5, and yeah that 5th lose was a hillarious one, for those that see me around Discord, will notice how obsessed i was with the ending of the game Seahawks vs Giants, and i’ll be for a long time, that series of events are the ones that make you scrath your head. Anyway at some moment Romeo went to the lockeroom and gave his players the speech of their lives, maybe a shit about inches or maybe he promised them the secret Bryan’s photos. Which one i’ll let it to your imagination but the Giants from that moment started winning every single game. And they looked extremely strong, they were playing the top football, but at the end not even the promised photos were enough and team felt short. For the next season there’s going to be the doubt was the 0-5 a bad streak and something shouldn’t have happened, or was it the reality and the win streak was the one out of place. Only time will tell.
Third’s time Charm
Brad Barber have become a journeyman after being fired by Lions and then by Jaguars, to be on he 3rd team is probably something he’s not proud of, but the truth is when you look at Barber’s job, he’s been a very consistent and complete GM, both Lions and Jaguars were good teams while he controlled them, so at the end i would say Brad have been just unlucky, and he proved that at his first season with Eagles, he built a competitive team for win now, but also started to work at the team future, he want to guarantee the success is something common for the eagles. The fans at philadelphia couldn’t be more happy with their new GM that landed them a playoffs travel, and that if wasn’t for a QB Injury, they might’ve done more. 2011 is a key year for the Eagles as is the year the found a captain for their ship. Aditionally this is the first season in my opinion i see QB Leftwich playing as the qb his attributes and talent indicate should be, let’s see if he can keep the pace.
The emperor is gone long live Bill
Whatever happens at Washington it’ll be hard to forget the success Bryan had there, but Bill have become a leader for the team and lead the to the playoffs. Guided by GM Ryan the Skins, commanders or how you want to call them, reached the playoffs again, and the team is walking at the right direction. Outside the play field, GM Bill Ryan shared with the league top high end content, with great analysis of the teams, and he’s thinking about to do an special series of interviews that can become one of the best content this league ever seen. So can’t wait to see how Redskins plays at 2012, but mainly can’t wait to see how those interviews going.
Bears sang the Super Bowl shuffle
We are the Bears, Shufflin' crew ,Shufflin on down. Doin' it for you, We'e so bad ,We know we're good !
The Chicago bears sang as the 1985 bears, as GM Brent Lachapelle added his name with gold letters at the Paul Criswell trophy. The 2011 was the years of the bears and as they’ve already did a great article about their pathway to the title, i won’t add much but recommend to go and read it. The comment i’ll do here is the same one i did there. The Bears surprised me with the way they managed their QB situation, did things that at first sight wasn’t conventional or that even looked at mistakes but at the end payoff for both the present and the future.
Scott Gardiner got a second chance
The 2011 season was a hard one for the Lions as they ended with the worst record of the league and Scott “Was fired” just to be resign again in a 1 season contract. I’ve always been a supporter of Scott’s decisions according rebuild, is important to consider the Detroit Lions suffered a lot from decision taken by the non related to William, Cook GM. Specially the trade that sent Vick to Pittsburgh, i consider Brad left a good team, but Scott received a team that needed a lot of help. So Scott started to sell his stars, to stack picks draft young studs and wish for the best, the problem is the low awr players only showed up twice per season vs Vikings. And the team sttrugled to win games, When you have 3 seasons is very complicated to turn around a franchise, and sometimes gotta decide if want to do the best for the organization or for yourself, and Scott decided to do the best for the Lions even if that put at danger his job, well deserved he got now a 2nd chance for correct the pathway and show us the results of his rebuild.
Cheeseheads melt with the hot seat
An impressive season by the always dangerous HB AdrIan Peterson wasn’t enough for avoid a season with lose record that sent GM Gary Hickman to the hot seat (If im not mistaken, for the first time ever), i don’t think Gary is in truly danger as he have the experience and the roster for survive it, but the team needs to improve the game we see at 2011 season, Matt Ryan wasn’t a dominant QB and that lack of pass attack was one of the reasons the team couldn’t win more games. The good thing is that AP delivered and will continue to deliver so if Ryan plays as a franchise QB, the Packers will be back at playoffs sooner than later.
A Series of Unfortunate Events for Vikings
The Vikings hangover after lose superbowl vs Jets few seasons ago, extended with a series of questionables moves by one of the best and with more experience GM’s Neal Wintermute, it all started with the trade at very low price of HB Michael Bush and it ended with losing a 1st round, while signing a FA QB that was Match Eligible. That’s the bad news, the good news is that as mentioned above, Neal have left that on the past and is focus to turn around the franchise back to where it belongs, playoffs and more. He have done high quality moves, and the roster looks extremely solid now. The team fall off short on their goal to make playoffs, as lost some key games, specially against divisional rivals, but the impression left by the 2011 Vikings season is they’re closer to that SB team quality version than to the Bottom. The key element for their near future is how Neal will manage the QB situation, with a Daunte Culpepper living the last days of his career.
